‘The Thing’ Character (1.5mm crochet hook)

If you want to knit different

sizes, the information is
available in the image.

For this recipe; we will

knit the 4.2cm size.
! ExplanaTION !
# We will use a thin yarn to make it small while knitting the hand (The Thing). The
yarn I use for the baby's skin color consists of 6 strands when I divide it into layers.

# We will use half the thickness of the skin coloured yarn we use for the baby. If
you have a yarn of this thickness, you can use it.

# Otherwise, you can create thin yarn by seperating 6 strands yarn into 3-3 wires
as I did. I seperated 4 meters and 6 strands yarn into two and I created 8m yarn in
total. 8m yarn was sufficient but in case, create a thin yarn of 10 meters.

# You can use a suitable crochet hook according to the thickness of your yarn. I
used 1.5mm crochet hook.

First, we will knit 5 fingers with skincoloured yarn:

2 fingers (Thumb and index finger):

Rnd 1. mr 5sc
Rnd 2-5. 5sc
Finish and cut the yarn.

1 finger (Little finger):

Rnd 1. mr 5sc
Rnd 2-4. 5sc
Do not cut the yarn. We will continue.

2 fingers (middle finger and ring finger):

Rnd 1. mr 5sc
Rnd 2-6. 5sc
Finish and cut the yarn.
Rnd 1. We continue to knit from the the
little finger.

Let’s knit 2sc from the little finger, put

the ring finger next to the little finger and
knit 2sc directly from the ring finger.

Put the middle finger next to the ring

finger and knit 2sc directly from the
middle finger.

Put the index finger next to the middle

finger and knit 2sc directly from the index
finger.

We will attach the thumb later.

Now, we have jointed the palm of the hand.

We start knitting the other side of the hand by knitting the

remaining 3sc on the index finger.

Let’s knit the remaining 3sc’s from the index finger, middle
finger, ring finger and little finger in order.

We have finished the first row.

Now, you can put your stitch marker.

Rnd 2. 20sc
Rnd 3. 8sc, 1dec, 8sc, 1dec :18sc

Rnd 4. 7sc, we will joint the thumb. Let’s take the thumb and put it next to the next
sc. We joint the sc by taking 1sc. from both the finger and the hand. And we joint by
taking 1sc more in the same way. (In other words, we joint the finger to the hand
with 2sc.),9sc

Rnd 5. 7sc, knit (sc, inc, sc) over the

remaining 3 sc on the thumb, 9sc
:20sc

Rnd 6. 20sc
fill the fingers with very little fiber.

Rnd 7. (3sc,1dec)*4 :16sc

Rnd 8. (2sc,1dec)*4 :12sc

fill the hand with fiber

Rnd 9. 12sc as flo

Rnd 10-12. 12sc

Rnd 13. 6dec as blo :6sc

Gather the remaining loops with the needle and finish.

Let's process scars,

Let's embroider scars using thin single strand black yarn.

(you can get help from images for scars.)
Since the scar I made with red was a wound that occurred later in the series,
I made it with red.
