Task 1: The maps below show Hunderstone town at present and a
proposed plan for it.
The pictures depict how the hunderstone town after some
significant development.
Overall, it is readily apparent that the town witnessed a
wide variety of alterations, with the most noticeable of which being
seen in the establishment of A4 highways built, a new intersection
added and the conversion of an airfield into an industrial estate.
At the moment, there is a roundabout on the A2 road, which
connects to a railway line going from north to south. There is a gas
station on the south side of the road and an airfield on the north side.
The town center is in the southeast and is surrounded by a built-up
area and a ring road.
In the future plan, the airfield will be removed and replaced by an
industrial estate. A new road, called A4, will be built from the town
center going southwest. Another roundabout will be added where the
current road crosses the railway. The gas station will stay in the same
place. The town center and the ring road around it will remain, but the
new roads will help people travel to the center more easily. There will
also be a new bypass road on the right side of the map, which may help
reduce traffic.
The map below shows a school in 1985 and the school now. Summarize
the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make
comparisons where relevant
The two maps compare the layout of a school in 1985 and at
present.
Overall, the school has become more modern and
larger, with more classrooms and new facilities added, while the
number of students has also increased significantly.
In 1985, the school had a simple design. There was a two-storey
classroom block in the middle and a small car park next to it. On the left
side, there was an office, a library, and another car park near the
entrance. The playing field covered a large area in the south. The school
population was only 1,500 students at that time.
Now, many changes have been made to the school. The small car park
has been replaced with new classrooms. The library has been removed
and replaced by a learning resources centre and a computer room. The
classroom block now has three storeys, and more classrooms were
added on the right side. A swimming pool and a fitness centre have
been built in the southwest corner, reducing the size of the playing
field. The car park near the entrance is now much bigger, and some
trees have been planted in the center. The school population has grown
to 2,300 students.
