B. Motivation “Pyramid Words”

Before starting our discussion today, let
us first have a warm-up activity.

To play this game, here are the

instructions. As you can see, there are
five triangles on the pyramid; behind that
are jumbled words. Your task is to guess
what word it is. You will have 5 to 10
seconds to take a guess.

Do you understand, class? Yes, ma’am.

Okay, very good. Let’s start

First word: OKOB

Ma’am, book.
You’re right! Very good.

Second Word: UORJANL

Ma’am, journal.
You’re right! Very good.
Third Word: OGOGLE

assignment what sources do you use
mostly?
I thoroughly checked

of the source as well as
the website, ma’am.

Very good.

In researching about our assignments

and projects we do not just copy
everything we see in the internet or book,
we must only choose reliable and credible
sources. It is also necessary to recognize
and cite these sources.

C. Presentation of In your last week’s lesson, you have

the Lesson learned the purpose and importance of
citing sources. Your teacher also gives
you a little background about the
American Psychological Association
(APA) referencing style.
In today’s lesson, we will expand your
knowledge of writing a bibliography using
APA format.
D. Presentation of Here are the objectives for today.
Objectives
At the end of the 60 minutes wherein we
will be discussing the concept of
bibliography and the various APA format
of different sources; you are expected, or
at least 75% of the class are expected to:
1. define key concepts of
bibliography;
2. write the correct format of citing
various sources using appropriate
punctuation marks; and
3. make a bibliography key using the
APA format.

E. Lesson Proper Before we proceed with our discussion.

Let us first have another activity.
1. Activity
In our activity earlier, I asked you what
sources you usually use in researching
your projects and assignments. Now,
imagine that you are tasked to do
research work on stories of Filipino
women. You decided to go to the library
and you have found this book.

Now, your task is to look closely and (The students will do

I will give you 2 minutes to answer this
activity.

2. Analysis Let us check your work.

these information and cite them in your
research?

the reader with more
Very good. information about the
sources, ma’am.

3. Abstraction

In our lesson for today, you will learn the

skills of using convention in citing sources
in writing a bibliography.

Let us first take a look at the sample text

inside the box. How many sources do you
see?

There are three

sources, ma’am.

Very good.
One way of citing your source is by listing
them on a separate page of your paper.
This page is what we call a bibliography.
Let us define the bibliography.
Who wants to read?

Thank you.
A bibliography is a list
A Bibliography is taken from the Greek

like books, periodicals, and the websites
you used to research your work.
In general, the bibliography should
include:
1. author's name
2. Title of the source.
3. Name and location of publisher.
4. Date of Published.
5. Page numbers of your source if it is
part of multi-source volumes.
There are many styles or formats in citing
or listing sources, depending on the
subject.
The three main citation styles are the

citing sources. However, in today’s
lesson, we will be focusing on the APA
style.
Why? Because today APA style is used
across disciplines as the standard style
for academic and professional writing.
Knowing the basics of APA format will
help you to document sources ethically.
Is that clear, students?

Very good. Yes, ma’am.

Alright, let us start learning the

bibliography citation standard on the
different types or formats of sources of
information in Print and Online using the

Because knowing how

is an essential skill that
we need to learn to

assignments and
research papers.

Very good.
Knowing how to write a bibliography will
help us give credit to the owners of the
ideas, photos, or videos we use in our
assignments. Giving credits is our way of
respecting the ideas of others; it also
builds our academic credibility. As you
move higher in the ladder of education,
may you not forget the importance of

student but also as a person. Always

V. EVALUATION

Entry It Right

Direction: Prepare a bibliography for the following references below, observing the correct
use of punctuation marks and proper indentation. Arrange the list in alphabetical order. Write
your
answers on a separate sheet of paper.
1. You are writing an essay about improving your listening skills in English. You found a
book in your library titled “How to Improve Your Listening Skills,” written by Belinda Gomez
and Francisco Conde. The book was published by Lawig Publishing, Inc. in Bayugan City,
and its copyright year is 2017.

2. You also found an article from a journal titled Journal in Early Education, which you got

Pupils Through Nursery Rhymes,” written by Allan Perez, Gina Cruz, and Alma Campos.
The serial information is Volume 11, Issue No.6, Published December 2017, pages 17-23.

Google. You clicked on a website article titled ‘Ten Ways to Improve Your Listening Skills. It
was posted on a website named iTeach Magazine, and the author of that article is Lesly
