Introduction:
Good morning, Grade 10- students, and welcome to your English Class with teacher France.
May I introduce myself first. I am Mary France L. Malto, a BSEd-4 English student teacher.
Today I will be your teacher; you can call me Ma’am France. I hope we can have fun and learn
together.
Prayer:
Before we begin, let us pray first.
Let us bow our heads and feel the presence of our almighty God.
Praise be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now and forever amen.
Classroom Management:
Before taking the comfort of your seats, kindly look if there are litters of paper under your chairs.
Then, arrange your chairs properly. If everything is settled, you may be seated.
Okay, I hope you are all well today and ready to listen and participate in our class discussion.
Are you ready, class?
Okay. Very good.
Recall
Before we proceed to our lesson proper, may I ask for a volunteer to give us a quick
recapitulation of the topic discussed before this meeting? Anyone, what was your last topic?
Very good, it seems like you really understand your past lesson.
Motivation:
“Pyramid Words”
Before starting our discussion today, let us first have a warm-up activity.
To play this game, here are the instructions. As you can see, there are five triangles on the
pyramid; behind them are jumbled words. Your task is to guess what word it is. You will have 5
to 10 seconds to take a guess.
Do you understand, class?
Okay, very good. Let’s start
First word: OKOB
You’re right! Very good.
Second Word: UORJANL
You’re right! Very good.
Third Word: OGOGLE
You’re right! Very good.
Fourth Word: EBSWET
Good job!
Fifth Word: EINZGAAM
Correct! Very good.
Sixth Word: WSENERPAP
You’re right! Very good.
That ends our Pyramid Words game.
Are you familiar with the jumbled letters we solved?
Good.
What are these words?
These are sources that we can use when we are researching for our project or assignments.
Now, when you are doing your assignment what sources do you use mostly?
Books
How did you make sure that your sources are credible and reliable?
I thoroughly checked the author and the title of the source as well as the website, ma’am.
Very good.
In researching our assignments and projects we do not just copy everything we see on the
internet or in book, we must only choose reliable and credible sources. It is also necessary to
recognize and cite these sources.
Presentation of the lesson:
In your last week’s lesson, you have learned the purpose and importance of citing sources. Your
teacher also gives you a little background about the American Psychological Association (APA)
referencing style.
In today’s lesson, we will expand your knowledge of writing a bibliography using APA
format.
At the end of the 60 minutes wherein we will be discussing the concept of bibliography and the
various APA format of different sources; you are expected, or at least 75% of the class are
expected to:
1. define key concepts of bibliography;
2. write the correct format of citing various sources using appropriate punctuation marks;
and
3. make a bibliography key using the APA format.
A. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
In our activity earlier, I asked you what sources you usually use in researching your projects and
assignments. Now, imagine that you are tasked to do research work on stories of Filipino
women. You decided to go to the library and you have found this book.
I will give you 2 minutes to answer this activity.
Let us check your work.
1. Title
2. Subtitle
3. Author
4. Name of Publisher
5. Place Published
What is the complete title of the book?
the complete title of the book is Proud Pinay: Inspirational Stories of Filipino Women.
That’s correct!
What is the name of the publisher?
Perlas Publishing.
Where was the book published?
Cebu City, Philippines.
Very good.
When you are doing your research work, do you closely look at the parts or details of the
sources that you use? Why?
It helps us determine if the source is reliable.
Very good.
Do you think it is important to take note of this information and cite them in your research?
Why?
To give credit to the authors and provide the reader with more information about the sources,
ma’am.
Very good.
Abstraction:
In our lesson for today, you will learn the skills of using convention in citing sources in writing a
bibliography.
Let us first take a look at the sample text inside the box. How many sources do you see?
Very good.
One way of citing your source is by listing them on a separate page of your paper. This page is
what we call a bibliography.
Let us define the bibliography.
Who wants to read?
Thank you.
A Bibliography is taken from the Greek word ‘biblion,’ which means ‘book,’ and ‘graphia,’ which
means ‘to write.’ Hence, it contains an alphabetical list of sources like books, periodicals, and
the websites you used to research your work.
In general, the bibliography should include:
1. author's name
2. Title of the source.
3. Name and location of publisher.
4. Date of Published.
5. Page numbers of your source if it is part of multi-source volumes.
There are many styles or formats in citing or listing sources, depending on the subject.
The three main citation styles are the following:
Who wants to read the first one?
Thank you.
How about the next one? Please read.
For the last one. Please read.
Thank you.
Those are the three styles we can use in citing sources. However, in today’s lesson, we will be
focusing on the APA style.
Why? Because today APA style is used across disciplines as the standard style for academic
and professional writing. Knowing the basics of APA format will help you to document sources
ethically.
Is that clear, students?
Very good.
Alright, let us start learning the bibliography citation standard on the different types or formats of
sources of information in Print and Online using the American Psychological Association (APA
Style)
Are you all ready, students?
Alright! Before we start, grab your pen and paper and copy the formats that we will discuss.

Publisher.
Familiarize or even memorize the format of the Book with one author.
Let’s have this example:

punctuations did you observe?
Very good.
In the formats above, where can we find the comma?
Correct.
How about the period?
You are correct.
How about parenthesis?
Very good. You did understand our discussion for today.
We are about to end our discussion.
What did you learn today?
Do you think it is essential to know how to write a bibliography?
Why do you say so?
Very good.
Knowing how to write a bibliography will help us give credit to the owners of the ideas, photos,
or videos we use in our assignments. Giving credits is our way of respecting the ideas of others;
it also builds our academic credibility. As you move higher in the ladder of education, may you
not forget the importance of maintaining your credibility not just as a student but also as a
person. Always respect other people’s ideas, never steal them from anyone, class. Remember
class, always practice honesty and integrity in doing your tasks and homework.
Before we end our meeting, I will first explain your assignments.
