sanctioned to reduce cross movements of Harduaganj powerhouse loads and Chandausi
bound trains.
2- 3rd line between DAQ and ALJN under construction. TDC June’ 24 . This 3rd line will
eliminate holdup of Up trains from DAQN to ALJN

Prominent Speed-barriers in TDL-GZB/UP
1. Late lowering and non acceptance of various Loads at CPYZ by the DLI division due to
limited connectivity of 3rd line in GZB yard. In this regard, NI of GZB yard to be executed
by NR, is pending since long. The work needs to be expedited and commissioned
early to facilitate smooth reception of UP trains at GZB.
2. Loads outside ICDD due to no room at ICDD due to bunching, shunting of POH/ROH due
rakes/ brake vans, low pendency specially on Sunday and Monday.
3. Bunching at ALJN goods shed, because of only one good shed line at ALJN (earlier it was
two and one line got converted as 3rd Line).
4. Diesel movement for WCLS/SOMNA Wonder cement.
Prominent Speed-barriers in TDL-GZB/UP
5. Hold up of freight trains coming from Agra Fort direction and going to terminals of IR and
loads towards HGJ side during M/E block between TDL – ALJN.
6. ALJN-HGJ single line and speed 50 kmph due to tramway OHE.
7. Movement of trains towards HGJ side involves Surface crossing at ALJN.
8. Bunching of NTCD Loads at DER causing controlling of NTCD loads at DER.
9. Surface crossing at KRJ.
10. BRN-ETH single line, longer block section and many PSRs/TSRs.
Prominent Speed-barriers in GZB-TDL/DN
1. No Load acceptance at KRJN/BRKN from 05:00 hrs to 09:00 hrs by the EDFC due
to Traffic and Power blocks.
2. Long Haul formation at DER and KRJ
3. Surface crossing at KRJ coupled with Mail/Exp. Bunching at KRJ. Surface
crossing at DAQ. Surface crossing at MTI.
4. Stabling of loads sometimes in the section due to heavy pipeline and congestion
at destination terminals.
5. Bunching at ALJN due to single CD siding.
6. Reversal and cross movement at ALJN specially ICMB & SCIC loads coming from
ICD DER and going to HGJ side
7. No 3rd line between ALJN-TDL and hence regulation of goods trains for M/E
passage.
8. HGJ-ALJN Single line and 50 kmph speed due to tramway OHE.
Action Plan for removing Speed Barriers TDL-GZB/UP
1. Currently, loads coming for WCLS are getting detained for power change( electric to diesel). This
issue will be addressed with the electrification of WCLS siding, which is expected to be
completed by 15.12.2023.
2. The sectional speed of ALJN-HGJ section is restricted to 50 kmph due to tramway OHE since
electrification of line. The work of replacement of OHE has been completed and this Speed
restriction will be relaxed to Normal by 21 Dec 2023.
3. NCR has planned two new B-class stations in BRN-ETH section and subsequent raising of section
speed. Connectivity of this section with EDFC will further reduce speed barrier due to
avoidance of surface crossing at BRN. Expected to be completed by Mar 2024.
4. 5.5 km length DAQ-ALJN 3rd line is in fast progress, TDC Jun’ 2024. It will enhance the mobility
of trains between DAQN - ALJN. It will also provide alternative path via 3rd line independent
of main line for ALJN and other terminals.
Action Plan for removing Speed Barriers TDL-GZB/UP
5. Two flyovers connecting ALJN – DAQN for Dn trains and ALJN- HGJ for Up trains for HGJ side are
sanctioned. The execution has been given to Bridge & Roof Co. These ROR’s once commissioned
will eliminate surface cross movements of HGJ Power House and Chandausi bound trains at ALJN
and DN trains at DAQ. PDC-Jan,2025.
6. NCR has already developed Good shed at MWUE as an alternate goods shed for ALJN. But
currently it is unutilized for the want of road connectivity with the Highway. For this purpose, NCR
has coordinated with the UP state govt. and with these efforts a road connecting MWUE- to High
way no. 91 has already been sanctioned by the UP state govt. at a cost of Rs.30 Cr., expected to
be completed by 2024. MWUE Goods shed will decongest ALJN goods shed. NCR is also
developing one more Goods unloading line along with other facilities at HGJ Good shed at an
estimate of 27Cr., which will further decongest ALJN. PDC-June,2024.
7. Survey for TDL-ALJN 3rd line is under process. The work of 3rd line between TDL – DAQ is being
proposed in UW 2024-25. This 3rd line will help in movement of both Up and Dn freight trains during
Coaching block on main line. Also, cross movement in MTI for AGC side loads will be eliminated.
Additionally, coaching trains punctuality will improve.
Action Plan for removing Speed Barriers TDL-GZB/UP
8. Decongesting of GZB by running loads like MJPJ, MIGK, BVH & PMRG via WDFC. Currently, 7-8 loads of these
destinations are being run via GZB, which get detained outside GZB for the want of LC ( general detention of 2-3
hours per load in DER-CPYZ section). Running of these loads via WDFC will decongest GZB and will reduce this
detention outside GZB. The Bye pass line at New Rewari to have forward movement for these loads has
been physically constructed but signal interlocking of this line is still pending, which is likely to
commissioned by June’2024.
8. NI of GZB yard, giving full functional connectivity of 3rd line with the GZB yard resulting into improved mobility
via 3rd line is also to be taken up by Northern Railway on priority.
8. KRJN-KATN section is now opened for full fledged train running. DLI division has started giving LR to
SRE/MTC base crew. After LR, all UP/DN trains shall go via KRJN-KATN bypassing KRJ. This will result
into elimination of surface Cross movement in KRJ yard. The work of commissioning of loop lines at 5
stations in this section needs to be expedited to ensure full transfer of Freight trains from IR to DFC line.
8. WDFC trained crew in sufficient number is to be provided by NWR/NR for better utilization of WDFC resulting into
decongestion of GZB.
Action Plan for removing Speed Barriers GZB-TDL/DN
1. Block hours at EDFC shall reduce in due course and hence detention of down trains at DER shall also
reduce. However, EDFC was supposed to reduce it to 2 hrs from 4 hrs as discussed in meeting
chaired by GM/NCR, on 8th Sep,2023 with DFC official & DRM/PRYJ.
2. Development of one more Goods handling line at KBP good shed and doubling between Jamuna
bridge – Agra Fort stations with bridge at Yamuna river in AGRA division, will lead to enhanced
mobility in this section and thus reduced detention to loads at Tundla station either for want of room at
Kuberpur Goods shed or for NWR/ WCR bound loads due to single line connectivity between Jamuna
Bridge – Agra Fort. Kuberpur Goods Shed PDC – June-2024, Yamuna Bridge Doubling –
March,2024
4. Long Haul formation at KRJ, will no longer be required after full opening of KRJN-KATN.
5. ALJN-DAQN flyover is sanctioned and is being constructed by B&R Co. It will reduce the surface
crossing at DAQ. PDC-Dec,2025.
Average Speed Calculation Issues
1. Load stabled on account of non-acceptance/planned by Board/Zonal
authorities should be excluded from calculation of average speed of
Freight trains in any section.
2. Load reached to terminal and awaiting placement to Depot should be
excluded for calculation of average speed.
A suitable change in programme may be put in place in FOIS. This will
improve average speed of remaining trains taken into consideration,
reflecting actual picture of train running. As such suitable modification in
Average Speed Logic need to be made.
