CAS Shield Guidelines for Interview

CAS-Shield Related Information
1. Students will receive a CAS Shield Welcome Link at their registered email
address within 24 to 48 hours of offer issuance.
2. Upon receiving the link, Setup a password to login.
3. Complete the information check section only. At the end of this section, the
students are required to enter financial information.
4. In the Finance section, mention some predicted values as of now.
5. For Example: Loan type: Part of an academic or educational loans scheme,
Loan name: Education Loan, Loan provider name: Prabhu Bank, Amount:
£30000/-
6. Do not upload any documents in the CAS Shield.
7. You can record the Final Interview in the CAS Shield.
How Pre-CAS interview gets recorded?
1. Students have to login their CAS-shield
2. Upon starting interview, you'll get 30 seconds time to read each question.
3. After logging in, there is a section called "Interview'
4. Then, the screen will split into two parts.
➢ In the left screen: The question will remain visible for you to read, if
needed
➢ In The right screen: You will see your video ready to record.
5. There you will find the option of 'Start Interview’, After this you'll see the
option
6. 'Let's start' twice and click the both options.
7. Make sure to have your passport by your side.
Things to Remember During Recording
1. Lightning should be proper
2. Room should be quiet/make sure there is no interruption
3. Check the Camera position while giving interview.
4. No one to be present in the room except the applicant, make sure no one disturbs during
the interview
5. Make sure the background is clear, no promotional posters, banners, logos of any other
countries, universities should be visible.
6. Arrangement of Alternatives:
7. If electricity goes off, no internet access, lower battery status
8. Adjust Mic/ headphones properly
9. Take unlimited mobile data as an alternative
10. Do not move too much while giving the interview
11. Do not copy answer or try to hear from someone else (You will be caught)
12. Do not address by saying Officer, Ma'am or Sir as you're recording your interview in AI
Basic Instructions for Interview:
1. Time to read questions: 30 seconds
2. Time to answer questions: 1 minute to 1 minute 45 seconds- depends upon question too
(for major question it will be more than 1 minute)
Step 1: student will be asked to pronounce any 3 words-
For e.g.: Welcome to your recorded video interview. The following is an audio check. We also
use vocal analysis to ensure it is actually you completing the interview. Please look at the camera
and read the following three words clearly and out loud: Juggle, Wobble, Hippopotamus
Step 2: Please read the following statement out loud
I confirm that I understand the seriousness of this interview process and acknowledge that any
instance of cheating, attempted deception, or fraud on my part will result in the withdrawal of my
admission offer.
Step 3: Passport verification
Open your passport to the page with your photo. Hold the passport in front of your face for 3
seconds then move the passport next to your face (no more than 20cm away from your face).
Read the following words out loud: Hocus-pocus, Jibber-jabber, Babbling This helps us to
confirm your ID. Once you have finished, click Stop Recording to go to the next step.
Compulsory Question for PCI:
1. When was your last education qualification completed and what have you been doing
professionally since you completed your last course/qualification?
2. Have you ever received a visa refusal? If so, please explain why you have been refused.
3. Do you have any known health conditions that may affect your ability to study with us?
University Related Queries and things to be known.
1. Introduction and History of the University.
2. Mention about some of the rankings of the university (Do complete research about it in
the website of the university as well) and mention the source that has done the survey.
3. Discuss the cost-effectiveness of the tuition fees and course available here for your
interest.
4. Location of the university.
5. Talk about some of the facilities provided by the university.
6. Diversified student life
UK Related Queries and Things to be known
1. Highlight the educational benefits exclusively.
2. Avoid comparing with other countries at the beginning.
3. You can say some reasons for not studying in Nepal.
4. Mention more about facts and figures.

Career Plan
1. It's mandatory to state that you will be returning to your home country Nepal after study
2. Mention that the UK's degrees are recognized worldwide, and Nepal has different
underlying opportunities,

4. (mention designation/position, research 2/3 companies and specify only one.)
5. Mention that your expected salary will be GBP 1200-2000 monthly
6. Do not talk about opening business soon after returning to Nepal.
7. You have to mention that you will be gaining some experience first before opening the
business [Note: Do not mention about PSW- Post Study Work
Financial Part
1. Mention that your parents will be supporting you financially and make sure that the
income of both parents is being segregated.
2. Do not mention support from your brother, sister, or other family members.
3. You can specify the income source through business, land lease, earning via agriculture
or many more
4. Make sure that your parents’ annual income is justifiable corresponding to the total
course fee and living expense
5. Make, parents' annual income should be within the range of GBP 25000 GBP 20000,
6. You can talk about loan if applicable or you are planning to take it further.
7. Do not mention other currencies rather than GBP
Know about the living expense of city you will be living and studying at
as per UKVI
1. Inside London: 1483 GBP Per month
2. Outside London: 1136 GBP per month
The UKVI financial requirements for international students include
living expenses that are intended to cover basic costs while you study in
the UK.
The examples of what living expenses may include are as follows:

Important Note for MRes Students:
1. MRes students should avoid mentioning any dependents during the pre-CAS interview.
Know the restrictions of working in UK as student
1. 20 hrs. per week in term time and 40 hrs. per week in vacation or holiday.
Accommodations:
Know your accommodation options- off campus and on campus both- search of university
websites and other websites like casita.com.
Things to remember in accommodation
1. Street number
2. Weekly rent
3. Location
4. Apartment and building name
5. Any other relevant details
Know the distance of accommodation from University- Refer google map
The accommodation should not be far more than 5 to 6 miles.
