On the second day of the second week, we resumed our observations to complete our
four learning tasks, compensating for the missed opportunity on the previous Tuesday.
Despite the initial setbacks, this experience underscored the importance of resilience and
adaptability in the face of unexpected challenges.
Learners' Safety: During the observations, I noticed that many Grade 7 students struggled
with understanding mathematics, which was evident in their performance on quizzes and
assessments. For instance, one student received a score of 0 on a quiz, indicating a
significant gap in understanding the material. This observation highlighted the necessity
for differentiated instruction and the need for additional support to help students grasp
complex concepts.
Mrs. Mamac primarily used PowerPoint presentations for her discussions and the
chalkboard for solving problems. While these methods were effective in presenting
information and demonstrating problem-solving processes, it was apparent that some
students required varied instructional strategies to fully comprehend the lessons. The lack
of group activities and collaboration in the classroom further highlighted the need for
diverse teaching approaches to cater to different learning styles.
Reflecting on these experiences, I realized how critical it is for educators to be prepared
for unexpected disruptions and maintain a flexible mindset. The fire incident and the
subsequent travel to Caridad National High School were daunting, yet they highlighted
the need to remain composed and focused on our educational goals. This lesson in
resilience is invaluable as we move forward in our teaching careers.
One of the significant benefits of self-reflexivity is the ability to identify and address our
own biases and assumptions. As educators, we must be aware of the preconceived
notions we bring into the classroom and how they can impact our teaching. By critically
