Q. Define Database.
Ans: A database is an organized collection of interrelated data about
a topic or subject. There are two types of database. They are:
a. Computerized database and
b. Manual database.

Q. What do you mean by DBMS?


Ans: DBMS stands for Database Management System, is a computer
software or program designed to manage the database. E.g. Ms-
Access, MySQL, Fox-Pro etc.
Q. Write the features of DBMS.
Ans: The features of DBMS are:
a. It is used for the easy and timely access of store data.
b. Provide the storage of data.
c. It eliminates the redundancy (duplication) of data.
d. It allows the multiple users at a time.
e. It guarantees the correctness of data.

person, events or thing etc. it is also called tuple.

b. Field: A column in a table is called field or attribute. It contains specific


piece of information within a record. Its another name is domain.
Q. Define the term RDBMS in short.
Ans: RDBMS stands for Relational Database Management
System. The database system which stores and display
data in tabular format of rows and columns like
spreadsheet is known as RDBMS. E.g Ms-Access, Oracle,
MySQL etc.
Q. Who is system analyst?
Ans: A system analyst is a person who uses analysis and
design techniques to solve business problems using
information technology.
Q Differentiate between centralized and distributed database system.
Ans: The differences between centralized and distributed database system
are:

responsibilities of DBA?
Ans: DBA is the most responsible person in an organization with
sound knowledge of DBMS. The main goal of the DBA is to keep the
database server up-to-date, secure and provide information to the
user on demand.

The major responsibilities of DBA are:


i. Installing, monitoring and upgrading database server.
ii. Providing different facilities for data retrieving and making
reports as required.
iii. Creating user manuals, giving training and telling the entire
facilities offered by the system.
iv. Maintaining database security and backup recovery.
v. Take care of the Database design and implementation.
