Author’s Note: DXRacer provided us with a review unit for this write-up.

Back again with another look at a new premium, luxurious gaming chair from DXRacer. DXRacer allowed us to check out their newest line of high-end gaming chairs, the Martian Series. DX Racer’s Martian Series provides a new type of Smart Electric Gaming Chair. This is not my first DXRacer chair. I previously reviewed a unit from DXRacer’s Craft Series several years ago. However, this is quite possibly one of the more luxurious and ritzier gaming chairs I’ve had the experience of owning.

The biggest difference between the Martian Series chair and the Craft Series iteration is that the Martian Series is electric. It works similarly to power seating in a car or electrically controlled reclining seats at a nice movie theater. The Smart Electric Chair features were easily the most exciting part of working with the Martian Series unit.

The Martian Series features built-in adjustable airbags that can be controlled on the right side-mounted controls. These can be adjusted to the natural S shape of the spine for maximum comfort. It’s a versatile control set, and the additional lumbar support is appreciated. The left side-mounted controls adjust the backrest of the chair, which can be shifted from 90 degrees to 135 degrees. I greatly enjoyed this feature, as all my previous gaming chairs had manual reclining controls. The electric recline makes the adjustments much more precise, versus the Craft Series version, where using the lever to manually recline the chair can sometimes be a bit of a herky-jerky, janky process. Overall, the smart electric features work great.

Another exciting new feature of the Martian Series is the memory foam head pillow, which attaches to the headrest area using a magnet. The Craft Series chair also has a memory head pillow, but it attaches to the headrest using an elastic strap. The magnet attachment for the head pillow is surprisingly strong, and it works well. It doesn’t casually fall off, and it stays attached to the headrest incredibly. DXRacer’s continued innovation with their chair units through features such as this is quite impressive.

For the electrical features, DXRacer provides a wired AC power adapter that can be plugged into the chair to power the electric controls. The chair also includes a rechargeable battery pack, so the chair doesn’t need to be plugged into the wall with the AC adapter all the time. I’ve certainly spent some time using the battery pack and the controls, and it’s lasted for more than a week so far. The battery pack can also be recharged using the wall adapter.

The DXRacer Martian Series chair presents a case of some assembly required. Thankfully, the chair kit includes all the tools and items necessary to assemble the chair at home. It might take a couple of hours to complete, but someone with experience assembling a premium gaming chair who knows what they are doing can likely set it up much quicker. One thing to keep in mind, since this is an electrically-powered gaming chair, it has electric wiring and parts throughout the chair and seat.

Some of the metal chair pieces can also be quite heavy, so it’s important to be mindful and take care not to damage the wiring and plugs during the assembly process. Overall, the assembly process was fairly doable and understandable. Although the instructions could’ve been a bit more descriptive, they get the job done fairly well. DXRacer’s YouTube channel also has helpful videos on the assembly process if needed.

The Martian Series provides excellent rocking motion, without making you feel like you are about to tumble out of your chair. The important thing to note is that while a DXRacer chair does come with a hefty price tag, DXRacer chairs are luxury items for a reason. My previous Craft Series chair is at least three years old, and it’s still in excellent condition. The 4D armrests provide a nice variety of adjustments and also work great.

DXRacer makes exceptional quality chairs that are very durable and will last you for at least several years. They are a long-term investment, and they provide maximum comfort for gaming, or even just doing work at home, especially if you are streaming or shooting videos or podcasts. I’ve only had the Martian Series chair for a short time, but it looks to be just as durable and strong as the Craft unit with its resilient steel frame. Considering their price, these chairs are built to last, which is important when making the choice to buy one. I had that experience with the Craft series, and the Martian Series looks to be no exception.

The DXRacer Martian Series is available now at DXRacer’s website in five different colors. Chairs are available in Large and XL sizes. My color of choice was the Red Black unit. Between the electrical features and controls, the magnetic head pillow, and the cool design, it feels like a gaming chair of the future. It’s easily the most versatile and fun gaming chair I’ve owned in the past ten years.
