Barrow goalkeeper Wyll Stanway starred as the 10-man Bluebirds won 2-1 at Walsall to end the League Two leaders' eight-game unbeaten run.

Stanway made a string of saves to thwart a Saddlers side that had 24 shots including 11 on target.

The visitors weathered early Walsall pressure and led after 31 minutes with Ben Whitfield crossing for Elliot Newby to stab home from close range.

Walsall twice went close before the interval but Stanway smothered a shot from Rico Browne and made a flying stop to thwart Courtney Clarke.

Barrow were reduced to 10 men after 56 minutes as full-back Lewis Shipley received a second booking for pulling back Daniel Kanu, having been cautioned for a similar foul in the first half.

But the Bluebirds doubled their lead 12 minutes later when Charlie McCann coolly finished a swift break from 12 yards.

Kanu pulled one back in the 74th minute, twisting in the box to fire in low.

However, Stanway made four superb saves to thwart Kanu from close range, a Charlie Lakin rocket and two Clarke curlers.

And when Aaron Pressley headed against a post from six yards in stoppage time, the points were Barrow's.
