Hello GitHub Community, I’m experiencing an issue where all of my historical GitHub contributions associated with one of my verified email addresses disappeared from my contribution graph. My GitHub username: Affected email: Here is what happened: On August 6, 2026, at approximately 2:21 AM, I accidentally removed the email address: This email address had previously been used as the author email for many of my Git commits. Shortly afterward, I added the EXACT SAME email address back to my GitHub account and verified it successfully. However, after re-adding the email, all historical contributions associated with that email disappeared from my contribution graph. This is NOT limited to one repository. Contributions from approximately 15+ repositories that were previously attributed to this email are affected. What I have already done:
Example affected commit:
From: Sohail Shabbir [email protected] The important point is that the email is now verified and attached to my account, but the historical contributions that were previously associated with this email are still missing. New commits are appearing correctly, so my account and contribution graph are currently working. The problem appears to be specifically with historical commits created before I removed and re-added the email address. I have also checked my GitHub email settings and the exact email address is currently present and verified. Has anyone experienced the same issue after accidentally removing and then re-adding a commit email address? Is there anything else I can do to restore the historical contributions, or does this require GitHub Support to manually rebuild/re-index the contribution history? I would really appreciate any advice or confirmation from someone who has experienced this before. Thank you! |

Username: aniketshukla1 I have at least five public pull requests authored by this account and marked merged: floci-io/floci#2031 |
|
Adding my case here since it matches what I've seen others reporting. I have 5 merged PRs that meet Pull Shark's criteria (authored by me, merged into the default branch of repos I don't own):
Verified commit email, "Show Achievements" enabled, no badge ever appeared. With the "Show Achievements" setting disabled, my profile shows a banner saying "You unlocked new Achievements on GitHub! Show them off by updating your Profile settings" pointing at the general achievements toggle. When I toggled that setting on, the banner changed to a different message: "You unlocked new Achievements with private contributions! Show them off by including private contributions in your Profile settings", pointing at a completely different setting. I enabled that too. Still nothing renders. So the backend appears to know achievements have unlocked (it's actively telling me so, twice, with two different explanations), but nothing is displaying regardless of which settings are toggled on or off. |
|
Please fix it. Everyone in the world is using GitHub, but you can't fix a simple issue. For me too, both badges are not showing |
|
I’m experiencing this as well. My GitHub profile is not displaying achievements that I should have unlocked, despite the relevant PRs being merged and my settings being enabled. This appears to match the profile/achievement rendering issue described here. Happy to provide specific PRs or other details if useful. |

Hi GitHub Community, I believe my issue may be related to this incident. My GitHub contribution graph is still showing contributions for commits that have already been removed from my repository history. The repository is I have verified that the remote repository is clean: git log origin/main --grep="test: activity"returns no results. git rev-list origin/main | wc -lreturns There are also no other remote branches containing those commits. However, the old contribution squares are still visible on my profile, even after more than 48 hours. When I click an affected day, it shows a contribution under So the contribution graph appears to be retaining stale contribution data for commits that are no longer present in the repository. I can provide screenshots of the affected contribution day and the unavailable commit if needed. Thanks! |

Hi GitHub team, I am experiencing the same profile achievement issue on @qingbo1011. "Show Achievements on my profile" is enabled and saved, but the Pull Shark achievement is still missing for both signed-in and public visitors. The following pull requests were authored by my account and merged by the upstream repository owner into the public repository default
The GitHub REST API reports both as merged, and GraphQL includes both pull requests in my contribution collection. More than 72 hours have passed since the second merge. However, my public profile still contains no native Achievements section or Pull Shark badge. Could you include this account in the profile achievement indexing investigation? Thank you. |
🆕 Community Manager Update: Monday August 17thHi everyone! Thank you for your patience and continuing to provide reports for this issue. The team is working on resolving this as soon as possible and I'll share more updates as they become available. |

Thank you for the update and for your continued work on this issue. The Achievements tab is now accessible on my profile, and I was also able to earn the Quickdraw achievement. However, the Pull Shark achievement is still not showing, despite my two pull requests having been successfully merged. It has now been six days since the qualifying pull requests were merged. Could you please confirm whether these pull requests meet the requirements for the Pull Shark achievement, or if there is any additional processing or delay that I should be aware of? Thank you again to the GitHub team for your time, support, and continued efforts to improve the platform. |

Hi GitHub team, I am experiencing the same profile achievement issue on @GuTS805. "Show Achievements on my profile" is enabled and saved, but the Pull Shark achievement is still missing for both signed-in and public visitors. The GitHub REST API reports both as merged, and GraphQL includes both pull requests in my contribution collection. More than 72 hours have passed since the second merge. However, my public profile still contains no native Achievements section or Pull Shark badge. Could you include this account in the profile achievement indexing investigation? Thank you. |

Hi GitHub team, I’m also experiencing this issue. I have 2 pull requests that were successfully merged into external repositories, but the Pull Shark achievement is still not appearing on my profile. My profile achievement settings are enabled. I’m sharing my case here as additional information for the investigation. Thank you for looking into this. |

Hi GitHub team, I'm experiencing the same achievement/profile issue on my account: @BLCCoreStudio. Quickdraw was successfully unlocked on August 29, 2026, but other achievements appear to be missing. In particular, Pull Shark has not appeared despite multiple pull requests authored by my account being merged into external public upstream repositories:
I also have activity that may qualify for YOLO, but that achievement has not appeared either. "Show Achievements on my profile" is enabled, and Quickdraw being recorded suggests achievement activity is associated with the correct account. Could the team please include @BLCCoreStudio in the investigation and check whether my achievement records need to be reprocessed/synchronized? Thank you! |
|
Following up on my August 16 report: Pair Extraordinaire was granted on August 19 and now appears on my public profile, which confirms that achievement visibility is enabled and working, but Pull Shark is still missing. I now have three pull requests authored by my account and merged into public upstream repositories' default |

Adding a data point to this thread, as I'm experiencing the same issue. Username: @tntrock Merged pull requests:
What I've already checked:
Following the thread for updates — thank you for the continued transparency, @ebndev. |

Hi, the same here: Pull Shark is missing despite two successfully merged pull requests. Account: @arsenii-titov Merged PRs: |
|
Same issue I also completed already a month gone so I again tried the pull shark and it's already 2 weeks gone again and still not showing total 5 PR merged successfully, even though not showing any Pull Shark Badge Account - @abhisheksharma611 |

Hi, could I ask for guidance on whether this might be related to the profile-rendering issue, or whether I should check something else about achievement eligibility? My profile is https://github.com/Kidpech-code?tab=achievements. On September 5, 2026, I enabled “Include private contributions on my profile”; “Show Achievements on my profile” was already enabled. Quickdraw then appeared, along with Pair Extraordinaire x2 and Pull Shark x2. An authenticated GraphQL query currently returns 128 authored-and-merged pull requests, while the profile still shows Pull Shark x2. The latest five merges completed today around 08:55 UTC. I understand the community-reported threshold of 128 may not equal GitHub's internal qualifying count, and processing may take time. Is there a recommended waiting period or a supported way to distinguish delayed profile updates from ineligible contributions? I would appreciate advice on what evidence to provide if this needs further investigation. Thank you! |
|
Adding another account with the Pull Shark tier stuck at default. Account: dappermint As of 2026-09-06 the badge shows no tier label (default, threshold 2). Bronze needs 16. GitHub search returns 65 merged public PRs authored by my account:
Happy to provide anything else that helps. |
|
Adding another data point here. Achievements are enabled and working generally, I recently earned Quickdraw and it appeared immediately. However, Pull Shark is still missing despite five public merged PRs across multiple upstream projects:
I also contacted GitHub Support. They re-ran achievement processing for my account and confirmed on September 7 that it completed successfully without any errors or issues, but Pull Shark still was not generated. Posting this here in case it is useful as another example for the ongoing achievement/profile investigation. |

Hi @ebndev My profile's "Show Achievements on my profile" setting is enabled, but the Achievements section/tab is still completely missing from my public profile. I have already: Confirmed that Show Achievements on my profile is enabled.
At this point, this appears to be a GitHub-side profile/achievement synchronization or rendering issue rather than a profile-setting issue. Could someone from the GitHub team please check whether my account's achievements are being generated correctly and whether the Achievements section needs to be resynchronized or restored? GitHub username: Profile: Achievements page: https://github.com/SHEKHAR-Y I've attached screenshots showing the enabled setting and the missing Achievements section. Thanks. |
|
GitHub account: @Deepnar I'm also affected by the missing Pull Shark achievement. “Show Achievements on my profile” is enabled and my email is verified. I currently have at least five PRs authored by my account and merged into external public repositories: OpenAgentHQ/modeldock#221 All are shown by GitHub as merged and authored by @Deepnar, but the Pull Shark achievement has not appeared on my profile. Could my account please be included in the achievement indexing investigation? |
|
Hi, my Pull Shark badge is still at the basic tier: kudala-bharani. GitHub shows 23 public PRs authored by this account and marked merged. These were merged into the original projects, not only into my forks. The 16th public merge was palinode#181 on September 3. Cyclopts#942 and Railtracks#1540 have merged since then. The badge is still basic on both my signed-in profile and the public page. Its history only lists the original May 18, 2026 unlock for the second merged PR, with no higher tier recorded. Could you check whether my account is affected by this issue and whether the achievement record needs reprocessing? Thanks! |
|
Hi GitHub team, I'm also affected by the achievement/profile issue described in this incident. GitHub account: @coni233 “Show Achievements on my profile” is enabled, but the Pull Shark achievement is still missing. I have two public cross-repository pull requests authored by my account and merged by the upstream maintainers: https://github.com/coneypo/Dlib_face_recognition_from_camera/pull/71 https://github.com/Starlwr/StarBot/pull/38 The second qualifying PR was merged at 2026-09-05 10:26:55 UTC, so it has now been more than 5 days, well beyond the usual 48-hour waiting period. I have already tried signing out and back in, confirmed that achievement visibility is enabled, and reported my case separately here: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/207034 Could my account please be included in the ongoing achievement indexing / profile rendering investigation, and if possible have the Pull Shark achievement record reprocessed? Thank you for looking into this. |

Adding a verified account-level case for @TongyiDai. Achievement visibility is enabled. Quickdraw, Pull Shark, and Galaxy Brain render correctly, but YOLO and Pair Extraordinaire are absent. YOLOThis is not based on one recent test. An authenticated GraphQL audit of the first 100 merged PRs returned for this account found 98 public PRs that meet the strict observable conditions: personal repository owned by @TongyiDai, PR authored and merged by @TongyiDai, merged into the default branch, zero review submissions, and zero review requests. At least 24 of those PRs contain commits authored with the account-linked GitHub noreply address. Representative examples:
The earliest clean example is approximately one month old, so this is well beyond a normal 24–48 hour delay. Pair Extraordinaire
The PR was merged into the public default branch. GitHub GraphQL resolves both human authors to accounts: @TongyiDai (ID 86219965) and @Peganofred (ID 91362722), and the commit is associated with the merged PR. A support request was filed as #4748535 and reopened with a request for account-level achievement reprocessing/re-indexing. Could @TongyiDai be included in the incident investigation or reprocessing set? |
