Parts of Speech
1. Noun: If a part of speech reveals any kind of name, literally name of any person, work,
thing, nation, time etc. is called Noun.
Example: Shakib loves Cricket.
**Here, Shakib is noun because it’s a name of ‘a person’; again Cricket is noun as it’s a
name of ‘a game’.

2. Pronoun: Replacement of noun is called Pronoun. The condition of being Pronoun is; it
needs to be the replacement of Noun and it cannot be a name.
Example: He really loves it.
**Here, He is Pronoun because it’s a replacement of the name ‘Shakib’ (Noun); again ‘it’ is
also a pronoun as it is the replacement of the name ‘Cricket’ (Noun).

3. Adjective: If a part of speech reveals/modifies the situation of a Noun or Pronoun, then it

is called an Adjective.
Example: Shakib’s love is unconditional for this game.
His love is increasing day by day.
**Here unconditional is adjective as it reveals the situation of ‘Shakib’s love’ (Noun phrase)
as well as increasing is also an adjective because it reveals the situation of ‘his love’
(Pronoun phrase).

4. Prepositions: ‘Pre’ means ‘before’ and ‘Position’ means ‘placement’. Actually Prepositions
are placed before the Noun, Pronoun and the Adjective and locate their positions.
Example: Shakib loves to be in the field.
That is a great honour for us.
There are plenty of reasons for loving him.
**Here in reveals the position of ‘the field’ (Noun), for reveals the position of ‘us’ (Pronoun)
and for reveals the position of ‘loving’ (Adjective).

adjective or another adverb or any sentence is called an adverb.

the situation of ‘developing’ (Adjective), very reveals the situation of ‘fast’ (Adverb) as well
as Quite frequently reveals the situation of ‘he gets half century’ (sentence) .

7. Conjunction: If a part of speech creates dependency, connect, or detach two clauses that
is called Conjunction.
