STUDY PLAN

To help students gain the knowledge and skills so that they will be able to function in society is
the main purpose of education. And students of science have shaped our modern society. That’s
why I took science as academic discipline since it stimulates our natural curiosity to understand
natural phenomena. Moreover, it teaches method of enquiry and investigation to stimulate
creative thought. For this I have decided to study applied mathematics in future. My name is
Musfika Yesmin. I have passed my SSC exam from Ispahani public school & college and HSC
exam from Chittagong College in 2015 and 2017 respectively. I have been studying Computer
science in Chittagong University of engineering and technology since I completed my higher
secondary education. I was born and brought up in Chittagong, Bangladesh and 29th April 1999
is my date of birth. My goal is to become a mathematician. For this reason my preference is to
achieve a greater academic accomplishment by pursuing Bachelor of science in Applied
Mathematics.

Why I wish to study in Canada for the program for which I have been
accepted?
There are many reasons that triggered my decision to choose Canada as a destination for my
university education. One of the biggest reasons for selecting Canada is the quality of a Canadian
education. Canadian college and university degrees are well recognized around the world and
Canadian universities consistently do well in international rankings. Canada boasts an enviable
quality of life, with a cost of living that is lower than in other countries and offers safety,
stability and respect for the rights of individuals and communities. So, having a bachelor
degree from Canadian university will pave a way to success. Beside this, Canada is a
bilingual country. Though English and French are the official languages of the country, the
primary medium of instruction in most of the Canadian colleges and universities is English. For
this reason it will be more convenient for me to study in English as I have got a band of overall
7.5 in IELTS exam in spite of the fact that English is not my native language. Another force that
encouraged me to choose Canada is most study programmes delivered by Canadian universities
focus a lot on research and students get to engage in intriguing experiments and projects, meant
to provide them a complete study experience, based on innovation and forward thinking .
Additionally, Canada is incredibly open and friendly, where professors are merely the guides that
help students become independent learners. I have already got an acceptance letter and after
considering all the facilities that are available in Canadian universities I am looking forward to
have a BSc certificate from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

What is your overall education goal?

At first, I would like to say that I have studied computer science for some time in Bangladesh but
do not feel passionate about the subject and also I cannot connect to the courses that were
offered. Besides Mathematics is my favorite subject hence I decided to study applied
mathematics after realizing the stated facts. I have also set my education goals. Firstly, I have to
complete the core degree requirements in the first year id study then I will choose applied
mathematics as my major. Throughout the time of studies I have to maintain a presentable CGPA score
that will guide me to get a good job in my own country. I am fully acquainted that I have to undergo a lot
of hardship for keeping up a good CGPA score. That’s why I will try my best to be serious and
conscientious about my studies.

Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence of
citizenship?
Canadian education system provides world class facilities compared to Bangladesh as the quality
of education is still satisfactory in Bangladesh. Also university programmes in Canada are
organized through traditional lectures, combined with workshops, group work, assignments and
projects which is not available in Bangladesh because of being underdeveloped and
overpopulated country. There is not much opportunity to do research in Bangladesh because of
large number of students and poor research facilities can obstruct the process of completing a
degree successfully.
I would like to say that the Canada is the best place for me to get high quality education considering my
financial situation and personal choice.

How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your

country of residence or citizenship?
Bangladesh has made remarkable progress by sustained economic progress and
Within near future Bangladesh will be the one of fastest growing economy in the world.
Consequently, there will be need for financial experts who will study market by collecting
data, analyzing this data and present their findings with the aim of solving practical problems in
business, government, engineering and science. After completing by bachelor I would
definitely get a chance to apply for a job as an actuary or a finance adviser in banking and
finance sectors, health sectors, general insurance and investment fields in my country.
Similarly, I can pull out the responsibilities of different investment banks as an investment
banker. Moreover, there will be an opportunity to be a teacher in different prestigious colleges
and universities so that I can contribute to the education of nation and development of the
economy.

What ties do you have to your country of residence or citizenship?

I am a citizen of Bangladesh and I am proud of my country. After completing my studies in
Canada there will be scope for me to contribute to the country by doing a job in my native
country. Moreover, my father, Abdur Rahim, who is a businessman of Auto Spare parts have a
desire that I should help him grow his business and being the youngest daughter of the family I
have to fulfill responsibilities and duties towards my family member. Also my sister whose name
is Fahmida Yesmin is a final year Pharmacy student of University of Dhaka will soon start
practicing as a pharmacist and my brother, Isfak Ahmed , is a first year intermediate student
studying in Cantonment English School & College and he has to go a long way for being a
supporting hand to my family. For this reasons, as soon as I complete my studies I have to come
back so that I can take care of my family. This is the country where I was born. I grew up with my
family and friends living around me. I am also a member of our society or community consisting of senior
residents. In addition to family I also have some responsibilities like providing education to the
underprivileged as a member of community which play an effective role in the development of the
society. In this way ,I can prove myself to be a responsible citizen of the country.
