1. What ICT tools do you/your school head use in School administration/management?
Specify the use
Information and communication technology (ICT) plays a vital role in improving
educational quality. ICT administration and management applications are now popular in
schools due to their capabilities in aiding administration operations ranging from data
storage to information management. In GNHS, our school administrators installed CCTV
not only in hallways but also in the classroom. Apart from safety, this is to maximize the
use of ICT in instruction such that learners can still attend school even if they are absent
as long as they have an internet connection. Regularly, in the school, we use a smart
TV, speakers, and laptop computers for both administrative and classroom
management. We also use the different google apps in the submission of reports and
accessing instructional resources. The Facebook messenger app is as well maximized
to have immediate collaborations, updates, and reports.
2. What ICT tools did you use in the activities you had today? How about in other
activities?
For the activities I had, today is scheduled for our 2nd quarter cards day. I used
the messenger app to message and update my learners and their parents. Also, the
same app is utilized in our school to give immediate feedback and report on the
classroom PTA meeting, attendance, and other concerns.
In other activities, I used MS word to make my daily lesson plans. With, I make
my instructional materials using MS PowerPoint and MS Excel to accomplish some
reports for our school. Also
Moreover, in my side-job, I usually use “treasurie” to get updated on sewing
patterns that are trendy & modern, Pinterest, and “allfreesewing” for sewing ideas and
techniques. These are both web-based applications. I am also a very forgetful person
sometimes. The applications that help me a lot to stay on track are the Microsoft To-Do
app, sticky notes for my desktop, and Things for my phone.
3. What IC tools do you use in teaching and learning?
In terms of managing, developing instructional materials, facilitating learning, and
delivering lessons, I usually use the following:
Educational Apps. I use this to supplement instruction and engage learners with
interactive activities. In my subject, Dressmaking I utilize my thesis output which is a
mobile learning application. I call this app a mSew learning App. Also, I use the youtube
app for videos and Canva, Prezi, MS PowerPoint, SlideShare, and Powtoon for my
instructional presentations. To engage in interactive activities with my learners, I use
classpoint, mentimeter, and Quizizz.
Virtual Classroom Tools. I use this to create an online learning environment
through web-based lessons. In the department of education, recently, we are
encouraged to help our NLPA (No Longer Participating in Learning Activities) learners to
have blended learning. With this, I use zoom and Microsoft teams to conduct online
classes from time to time to facilitate remote teaching and learning.
Learning Management Systems. To track student progress, and conduct
assessments, I maximize the different google apps like google drive, google sheets,
google docs, google forms, and google classrooms to organize educational content,
such as lecture slides, readings, and student assignments. enable teachers and
students to connect, share, and collaborate online.
Just recently, one of our speakers during the INSET of our school introduced to
use of Wakelet to save, organize and share content from across the web. I find this app
as very essential especially since we are being advised to limit our use of the google
related apps and storage.
