Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
A. Preliminaries
-Good morning class
-before anything else, may I request all to stand
and let’s have a prayer.
-with the name of the Father, of the son, and of
the Holy spirit ……..amen!
-is every body’s present today? -yes sir.
-okay, that’s good.
-Good morning sir, Good morning
--so, Good Morning once again
Classmates.
B. REVIEW .
ACTIVITY 1:
Note to the Teacher: Divide the class into
two groups.
Provide each group with activity sheets
(refer to activity sheet 1) with instructions
and questions to answer.
Process all groups’ answers
-Okay class, before we start our lesson for today,
we have a Recall activity. So, in this activity you
are going study each equation carefully. And the,
group the equations into two and call it Set A and
Set B.
-After that, each group will choose a presenter to
present your activity on the board.
-Yes sir.
-is it clear?
-okay, do that in 2 min.
-yes sir.
-class, are you done?
-okay go on the board and present your answer. SET A SET B
2x + y = 0 x2 + 5x – 6 = 0
–x + 2 = 0 5 – 3x = x2
9x = 18 x2 = 2 + 3x
3y -5x = 1 5 – 3x = x2
-then what is your basis on grouping the - The grouping is based on the exponents of
equations? the variable.
-one sir
-What is the highest exponent of variable in Set
A? -Linear equation Sir.
-then what do you call that equation? -two sir.
-How about in Set B? -Quadratic equation sir.
.
-and this equation is?
-Okay very good
C. MOTIVATION
Motive Questions: (refer to the quadratic
equations in activity 1 to answer each question
below)
-What have you observed about the Quadratic
Equations in activity 1? -the degree of each equation differs, sir.
-Are these equations written in standard forms? - no, sir.
-How can you tell if an equation is written in - if it is written in the form ax + c=0 or ax2 +
standard form? bx + c=0, sir.
-so, with that questions that I’ve asked to you, any
Idea that comes to your mind on what is our topic
for today?
-any Idea from the Group? -It’s all about quadratic equation sir.
-okay, correct?
-another idea? -I think our lesson for today is that steps on
how to make the quadratic equation in
standard form.
-Okay, that’s great idea.
-so, let’s find out
D. PRESENTATION
the same grouping as in activity 1
Provide each group with activity sheets
(refer to activity sheet 2) with instructions
and questions to answer.
-How did you write each quadratic equation in
standard form? -by applying mathematical concepts
/principles previously learned.
-What mathematical concepts or principles did
you apply? Discuss how you applied these
mathematical concepts or principles. - special products, rule on transposition rule.
-Which quadratic equations did you find difficult
to write in standard form? Why? -none, sir.
E. DISCUSSION
The teacher discusses the concepts of
writing quadratic equations in
standard form. (Refer to Worksheet –
Discusssion)
-so, like what you said before, our topic for today
is all about the Steps in writing quadratic
equations in standard form.
-In first step is to Find the product applying the
mathematical concepts on special products. (If
written as factors).
-And the second step is to transform the equation
into the form ax2 + bx + c = 0 applying the
transposition rule.
F. Application
Ask the students to work in pairs.
-we have another activity for better
understanding.
-allyou need to do is to write each quadratic
-yes, sir.
equation in standard form, ax2+bx+ c = 0. and
then raise your hand if you want to answer. -we are ready sir.
Are you ready? 1. 2x2 -5x+7=0
1. (2x+7) (x-1) =0 2. 2x2-6x-15=0
2. 2x(x-3) = 15 3. 3x2 -2x +6=0
3. 6-2x+3x2=0
4. x2 -8x -8 =0
4. (x-4)2 + 8 = 0
5. x2+3x-49=0
5. (x+7) (x-7) = - 3x
-Okay very good, that’s great.
-yes sir.
-so, class, do you understand our topic?
-none sir
-any questions or clarification?
(students will arrange their chairs)
-If none then, arrange your chairs, we have to
summarize our lesson.
G. Generalizations
-To summarize our lesson, I have two questions.
-first, what is our lesson all about?
-It’s all about Steps in writing quadratic
-Then how to writing quadratic equation into equation in standard form sir.
standard form?
-In first step is to Find the product applying
the mathematical concepts on special
products. (If written as factors).
-And the second step is to transform the
equation into the form ax2 + bx + c = 0
applying the transposition rule.
-okay, very good.
-so, I quest you are now ready for a short quiz.
-Bring out your ballpen and scratch paper and
answer the short quiz.
V. EVALUATION
Written Examination:
I. Identify each equation, write QE if the equation is quadratic equation and NQE if not.
1. -8x (5 +x) =0
2. 5 -3 (x -2) =0
3. 3. x (x +3) = 4
4. 2x2 -15 = 2(x2 +7x)
5. (x +3) +8 = 0
II. Write the Quadratic Equations in a standard form.
6. (x +5) (x +9) = 0
7. (2x -1) (x +3) = -2x
8. (x +6)2 = 0
9. x (5x -4) = 7
