Class X Worksheet Subject: Physics

Chapter : Electricity

1. Identify the circuit in which the electrical components have been properly connected.

2. A student carries out an experiment and plots the I‒ V graph of three samplesof nichrome
wire with resistances R1, R2 and R3 respectively as shown in figure.Which of the following
is true?

(a) R1 = R2 = R3 (b) R1 > R2 > R3

(c) R3 > R2 > R1 (d) R2 > R3 > R1

3. What is the maximum resistance which can be made using five resistors each of 1/5 Ω?

a. 1/5 Ω b) 1 Ω c) 2 Ω d) 0.5 Ω

In the following Questions, the Assertion and Reason have been put forward. Read the
statements carefully and choose the correct alternative from the following:

• (a) Both the Assertion and the Reason are correct and the Reason is the correct
explanation of the Assertion.
• (b) The Assertion and the Reason are correct but the Reason is not the correct
explanation of the Assertion.
• (c) Assertion is true but the Reason is false.
• (d) The statement of the Assertion is false but the Reason is true.

i) Assertion - Alloys are commonly used in electrical heating devices .

Reason – Alloys do not get oxidized at high temperatures.

ii) Assertion : Longer wires have greater resistance and the smaller wires have lesser
resistance.
Reason : Resistance is inversely proportional to the length of the wire.

iii) Assertion : When the resistances are connected end- to-end consecutively, they are said
to be in series.

Reason : In case the total resistance is to be increased, then the individual resistances
are connected in series.

iv) Assertion : When a resistance wire is stretched so as to make its length double, its
resistance becomes 4 times of its original value.

Reason : Resistance of a conductor is directly proportional to its length and inversely

proportional to its cross section area.
