Lesson Title: Creating Visual Content in Canva

Grade: Primary 6

Objective:
Students will be able to create a flyer, poster, or other visual content using the Canva online design
platform.

Materials:
- Computers with internet access
- Canva account for each student
- Instructions for creating different types of visual content in Canva
- Images and text for students to use in their designs

Procedure:

1. Introduction:
- Start the lesson by introducing Canva to the students and explaining that it is a design platform that allows
users to create professional-looking visual content such as flyers, posters, and social media graphics.

2. Demonstration:
- Demonstrate how to use Canva by creating a sample flyer or poster in real-time. Show students how to
navigate the platform, select a template, add images and text, and customize the design to suit their needs.

3. Practice:
- Have students log in to their Canva accounts and explore the platform themselves. Ask them to choose a
template and start creating their own visual content. Provide guidance and support as needed.

4. Different Types of Visual Content:

- Explain the different types of visual content that students can create in Canva, such as flyers, posters,
social media graphics, and presentations. Provide instructions and examples for each type of content.

5. Group Activity:
- Divide students into small groups and assign each group a different type of visual content to create in
Canva. Have them work together to brainstorm ideas, gather images and text, and design their content.

6. Sharing and Feedback:

- Once students have completed their visual content, have them share their designs with the class.
Encourage students to provide feedback to their peers on their designs and offer suggestions for
improvement.

7. Extension Activity:
- For students who finish early, challenge them to create additional visual content in Canva or explore
advanced features of the platform. You can also assign a homework task for students to create a design on
a topic of their choice using Canva.

8. Conclusion:
- Wrap up the lesson by discussing the importance of visual content in communication and the benefits of
using tools like Canva to create professional-looking designs. Encourage students to continue practicing
their design skills and exploring different types of visual content in the future.

Assessment:
- Assess students' understanding of creating visual content in Canva by reviewing their designs and
providing feedback on their creativity, use of images and text, and overall design layout.
