CONDITIONALS
1. Zero Conditional
Used to describe general truths or facts that always happen under certain conditions.
Structure: If + present simple, present simple
Example: If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.
2. First Conditional
Describes a real or likely situation in the future and its probable result.
Structure: If + present simple, will + base verb
Example: If it rains tomorrow, we will cancel the trip.
3. Second Conditional
Describes hypothetical or unreal situations in the present or future, and their possible outcomes.
Structure: If + past simple, would + base verb
Example: If I won the lottery, I would travel the world.
4. Third Conditional
Used to describe hypothetical situations in the past that did not happen, along with their
possible consequences.
Structure: If + past perfect, would have + past participle
Example: If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.
5. Mixed Conditional
Refers to a mixture of time references, typically combining a past hypothetical condition with a
present result.
Structure: If + past perfect, would + base verb
Example: If I had taken that job, I would be living in New York now.
