PRACTICAL RESEARCH SCRIPT

GROUP TWO

GREETINGS & INTRODUCTION (CHAPTER 1);


CAIRO: Gadgets are one of the most popular technologies that most people have. They are
used in many ways, and one of the reasons why people consume time on these gadgets is
because of social media, specifically the TikTok application, which is one of the most popular
platforms in the world. In fact, there are 800 million "active" users around the world. Let's
discuss it further in our presentation.
A pleasant morning to everyone. To our dear panelists, I am Ejayson S. Cairo, standing
here as the leader of Group 2 with my group mates. (blah blah blah blah)
And now let's proceed in Chapter 1 “The Problem and its Background”
Like other social media TikTok application have positive and negative effects to its users
especially to students. But let's first talk about the positive effects of this application, as stated
by Fiallos.
"It can give educational videos for young and global viewers that were created by expert
authors (Fiallos et al., 2023)." In this study, Fiallos gives us the idea that this platform can
give knowledge or information that will help the students in their daily lives. For example,
since the TikTok application has many contents, there are some videos or contents that teach
the viewer how to use words properly, about history, even problem solving in mathematics,
etc. This content can be evidence that the TikTok application can help students in their daily
lives.
However ,there are some problems or disadvantage of Tiktok Application according to a study
conducted by Wojdan TikTok is causing various issues, including addiction, in kids and
teenagers resulting in reduced attention towards school works and this is particularly evident
when there is an imbalance between excessive TikTok use and limited focus during study
time .(Wojdan et al, 2020). TikTok can be distraction if the attention of student focused on it
for example student choose to scroll up in TikTok for 2 to 4 hrs it's a lot of time right? While
neglecting the task and assignments given by the teachers this are the problem that might
give negative perceptions onto TikTok. And now let's proceed in the Background of the Study.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY;
RODRIGUEZ: The background of the study is where you can find the students perceptions
toward the TikTok application. While using this application, it has its positive and negative
effects on students. TikTok influences various aspects of students' character development,
such as their behavior, attitudes, values, and interpersonal skills. TikTok application can
influence them to be creative and to gain more confidence and self-esteem. However,
spending too much time on TikTok can be a distraction for students trying to focus and keep
up with their studies.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM;


TUTOY: For our Statement of the Problem, here's the first Question:

1. What is the student’s perception of TikTok's application in the following sector of;

1.3 Entertainment
2. What are the observable behaviors of students who use the application?
And lastly,
3. How do students use TikTok responsibly?

SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS;


REYES: The scope of this study is the perception of Caybiga High School's grade 7 students
in tiktok application in terms of business,education, entertainment and media and how they
use tiktok correctly. The locale of this study will be at Caybiga High School.
The delimitation is the students who doesn't have a tiktok application. We exclude them in this
study because they may not have any idea about our chosen topic.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY;
PASCUAL: Understanding how Caybiga High School students view the TikTok app and how
it will influence their behavior is the aim of this study. Students will have the opportunity to
discuss their comprehension of the TikTok app as well as their experiences. The following
people stand to gain greatly from this research:
Students in grade 7: Students will benefit from this research as they learn responsible
use of the TikTok app.
Teachers: Equipped with the knowledge this study offers, educators can address the
ways in which the TikTok app influences students' behavior and perception
Parents: Parents who wish to guide their children might learn from this research on the
possible effects of the TikTok application.
School: Caybiga High School stands to gain from this study as well. This research
attempts to offer details about.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK;
GABITO: User-centric theory by Jiang Xiao Yu.
According to Jiang Xiao Yu the main goal of User-centric design is to design a solution
and meet the user’s needs, expectations, and perspectives. By understanding users’ interests
and serving them creative and fun content, TikTok keeps users engaged and provides various
fresh, creative, and entertaining videos to users.

Flow Theory by Zheng Cheng.


Zheng Cheng explains that using the flow experience when people experiencing a state
of flow they may become so immersed on TikTok Application that time passes without them
even noticing and they will often continue to watch or do the activity despite its
consequences.
Uses and Gratifications Theory by Falgoust
This theory by Falgoust point out that it is very easy for users especially teenagers and
students who lack self-control, to become engaged and have positive or negative behavior
from watching various content on the TikTok Application.

This theories will help the researchers to analyze the perception and behavior of the
respondents on the TikTok Application.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK;
PEQUE: Now let's proceed to the CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK.
This framework investigates the complex opinions that students have about TikTok. It
takes into account the variables affecting their opinions as well as the possible results of their
interaction with the platform. This study aims to comprehend how Caybiga High School
students view the TikTok app. This comprises perceived benefits, perceived drawbacks,
social influence, and content types, among other influential factors. The respondents' years of
TikTok use as students and how it impacts their behavior and general well-being.
The primary study variables were displayed in the framework. The stories of the chosen
Caybiga High School students made up the input for the framework. The beneficial effects
that the TikTok app has on students will also be investigated in this study. Following that, a
project and suggested work will be presented.

*Reads Central Construct* & *Reads Conceptual Paradigm*

-Students will find some educational content and entertainment on TikTok it can help
them to their studies and they can find some guide to do their work on the app.
-Students perceived Tiktok as a powerful tool for marketing and any types of
businesses. Tiktok as a highly engaging platform that effective for marketing campaigns. It
has a diverse audience make it an attractive option for businesses to promote products or
services.
-Tiktok can affect students base on how they use it, their screen time on TikTok often
leading to decreased productivity and reduced time to other important activities. It can
influence their behavior and also their attitude.
•Tiktok can be addictive if it's not been properly used, it affect their well-being and
cause distraction. But encouraging students to balanced, and mindful usage such as setting
time limits, taking breaks, and avoiding excessive use of tiktok, can have a positive usage on
the application and also to the other platforms.

RESEARCH DESIGN;
TOMBADO: For the Research Design, we chose the Phenomenological Approach because it
is about the live experiences of an indivudual. This approach is applicable in our Research
Design because we are referring to the live experiences of the Grade 7 students which is their
perception on the TikTok Application.

POPULATION AND SAMPLE;


ANTIGUO: For the population and sample of this study, the participants of this study are the
10 selected male or female Grade 7 Students of Caybiga High School. The researchers will
use the snowball sampling method. This is done to understand the Grade 7 Students
Perception of the TikTok Application. The researchers will be conducting the data-gathering
located at Caybiga High School at Molave St., Pleasant View Subdivision, Bagbaguin
Caloocan City.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT;
REYES: Our study will be using structured interview as an instrument. Structured interview is
a type of interview where we already prepared bunch of questions that are developed based
on the study's statement of the problem.

VALIDATION OF THE RESEARCH INSTRUMENT;


GAUCE: This research will be conducting an interview which will be validated by the
research teacher and two other research teacher.
The first draft will be presented to the teacher. After Validation and receiving feedbacks
for improvement, the research interview questionnaires will be distributed to the Grade 7
respondents using the snowball sampling. This will be conducted at Caybiga High School.
