What is Skip Counting?
Skip Counting - It is simply
counting forward while
skipping a number or
numbers in between. This
makes counting faster.
Skip Counting is counting in
groups of 2, 3, 5 etc.
Jump by 2:
SKIP
COUNTING:
COUNT BY
2’s
Skip Counting by 2
There are 10 ice-creams. We
can count them in groups of 2.
We skip the numbers in
between. We get next
number by adding 2 to each
number.
So, we call this skip counting
by 2.
Skip Counting by 5
When we skip count
by 5, we count every
fifth number.

ORDINAL NUMBERS
● The numbers 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and
10th tell the position of different runners in the picture.
● These numbers that tell the positions are called ordinal
numbers. We generally use th after the number name to
write ordinal numbers.
● 1 is first (1st). ● 6 is sixth (6th).
● 2 is second (2nd). ● 7 is seventh (7th).
● 3 is third (3rd). ● 8 is eighth (8th).
● 4 is fourth (4th). ● 9 is ninth (9th).
● 5 is fifth (5th). ● 10 is tenth (10th).
