Class Notes: Multiplication
- Multiplication is a faster way to add numbers repeatedly.
- Example: 4 x 3 means adding 4 three times: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12.
- The number being multiplied is called the "multiplicand," and the number it is multiplied by is the "multiplier."
- The result is called the "product."
Class Notes: Division
- Division is splitting a number into equal parts.
- Example: 12 ÷ 3 means splitting 12 into 3 equal parts: Each part is 4.
- The number being divided is called the "dividend," the number we divide by is the "divisor," and the result is
the "quotient."
