Instructions for the observers/Cooperating Teacher:

1. Rate each item on the checklist according to how well the teacher intern performed
during the classroom observation. Mark the appropriate column with your corresponding
observation.
2. Each indicator is assessed on an individual basis, regardless of its relationship to other
indicators.
3. The goal for every teaching demonstration is at least three of the learning episodes are
observed (based on the agreement of the cooperating teacher and the teacher- intern).
4. The COMMENTS section could be used to elaborate why it is observed or not observed
during the teaching demonstration. Strengths could be highlighted or examples cited to
support the rating. The observer could also provide descriptions of exemplary behaviors.
Recommendations for improvement could also be included.

OBSERVED The indicators are evident or performed by the teacher-intern. It could


also be an indication that the skill/s has at least been tried or
attempted by the teacher-intern though not yet mastered.
NOT OBSERVED The indicators are not evident or are not performed by the teacher-
intern. It could also be an indication that there is no opportunity to
observe such skill/behaviour in the topic discussed.

I. Knowledge of the Subject Matter

1. Teaches the lesson surely without opening the books all the time.
2. Accomplish the objectives and scope of the subject as contained in
the curriculum guide/lesson log.
3. Does not rely on textbooks alone but utilizes other relevant and up-

II. LESSON PLANNING


1. Objectives stated in behavioural terms.
2. There is congruence between objectives and subject matter.
3. There is congruence between objectives and teaching procedure.
4. There is congruence between objectives and assessment.

III. LESSON PROPER


1. Teacher checks students’ knowledge (which can be obtained from
past learning or related to everyday life) and connects them to today’s
learning material.
2. Teacher provides examples related to the lesson/topic, gives
students examples how to answer given exercises.
3. Teacher gives activities to students in the classroom relating to
today’s lesson (either in pairs / in groups /individual).

4. Teacher connects today’s content with situations or daily activities


that are commonly experienced or done by students.
5. Teacher explains the material to students through clear writing
and/or diagrams.
6. Teacher uses instructional media that includes, but not limited to,
written or printed learning media (excluding the compulsory textbook
for the lesson) prepared by teacher; map, chart, cards, slide
presentation, projector , TV , etc.
7. Teacher presents a summary of the lesson.

IV. PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH (Constructivist)


1. Encourages students to think, ask questions and express their own
opinions.
2. Develops learners’ ability to consider ideas.
3. Engages students in individual or group experiential learning (
group activity , project planning , product creation , hands-on activity)
4. Guides the learning in the simplest way.
5. Promotes independent and lifelong learning .

V. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
1. Teacher gives praises or positive responses to students for their
answers.
2. Teacher circulates the classroom to monitor students.
3. Teacher uses cheers, handclaps, or games/songs to control the
class.
4. Teacher conveys the expected behavior of students during class.
5. Teacher disciplines student’s unexpected behavior in class.

VI. ASSESSMENT
1. Teacher receives and checks students’ assignments.
2. Teacher checks students’ understanding regarding assignment.
3. Teacher asks closed-ended questions to students.
4. Teacher asks open-ended questions to students.

VII. COMMUNICATION SKILLS


1. Teacher speaks clearly and loudly enough to be heard by the class.
2. Teacher uses the correct pronunciation and grammar in speaking.
3. Teacher was able to elicit the correct answer from the student
through skillful questioning.
4. The board work of the teacher is free from errors, and the
handwriting on the board is legible and readable.

1. The teacher makes one or more specific suggestions for ways that
the lesson could be improved.
2. Teacher seeks out opportunities for professional development to
enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skills.
3. Teacher demonstrates professional behaviour; accepts constructive
criticism and recommendations; implements suggestions; practices
social justice and equity.
4. Teacher displays high standards of honesty , integrity , and
confidentiality in interactions with colleagues , students, and the
public.
5. The teacher has appropriate hygiene/attire and displays a positive
attitude.
