Overall, production of most film categories increased, coinciding with
a rise in sales except for romance which remained stable and had a fall in
profit.
Regarding the rate of movies released, Drama saw the most significant
surge of approximately 8% to 35% in 2006. A less pronounced trend also
appeared in Comedy and Fantasy with a rise of almost 5% to 25% and over
15%, respectively. Romance stayed unchanged at around 5% throughout the
period.
In term of ticket sales, despite the considerable increase in production,
revenue from Drama only rose for a modest fraction of roughly 1%. Comedy
and Fantasy sales coincided with their production rates with an uplift of about
2.5%, being the most notable increase in profits. Romance revenue, on the
other hand, witnessed a decrease of about 3% from 5% to 2%.
