Summary of Chapter 3

Chapter 3 discusses various research methods including exploratory, correlation, case study, and longitudinal designs. It outlines the study of populations, differentiating between total, target, and accessible populations, and describes sampling procedures such as probability and non-probability sampling. Additionally, it covers data collection methods like questionnaires, interviews, observations, and focus groups, along with data analysis techniques for both quantitative and qualitative data.

CLASS : 3K STUDENTS
Research design

 Exploratory design: when you create a problem

 Correlation: relationship between
 Case study: Deeply study on single case
 Cross sectional: Short time in a single place
 Longitudinal: different time in different place .
 Descriptive: Describe event or phenomena.
 Comparative design: A comparative research design study
compares two or more groups on one variable.

Study of population

 A population: is the totality of entities being study.

E.g : UOH students
 Target population : is the population of your study
context area
E.g: All seniors : 1000.
 Accessable population : e.g: sample size
sampling procedure:

 1. Probability sampling :
 a. Simple random sampling: Equal chance through
single institution
 b. Systematic random sampling: 5,10,15,20C.
 C. Stratified sampling=categories or respondents
 D. Cluster sampling= Small portion of that population
 2. Non probability sampling:
 a. purposive sampling:E.g selecting more familiar
 b. Quote sampling: e.g : Selecting one and all others
are excluded * c. convenience sampling: Snow ball
sampling -Hidden information
Data collection form

 1. Questionire:
 A. Open ended=E.g: what's your age__
 B. close ended: E.g : whats your age : 20_30, 10__202.
 2. Interview:
 a. Structural interview
 b, Semi_structure
 C. Un structure
Continue..

 3. Observation
 a. Direct
 b. Indirect
 4. Focus group: Asking questions bay each group
 Data analysis:
 1. Quantitative form : Statistical form.
 2. Qualitative form :Theoratical form.
