Course Description:
This course is designed to provide a broad foundation on Business Analytics to MBA students. The
course begins with various descriptive analytics and visualization techniques to handle and analyze
various data forms relating to business. At the next level, the course deals with hypothesis testing which
helps in business decision-making. Each session will help the students understand the concepts,
techniques, and applications of Excel.

Course Objectives:

The course aims to:


1. Demonstrate conceptual knowledge of analytical techniques and tools as applied to the business
environment.
2. Develop skills and competencies in applying the above knowledge to business problems.
3. Demonstrate relevant analytical capabilities in frameworks, tools and techniques for objective
decision-making.
4. Think through a problem creatively, generate a set of alternatives and select the best alternative for
better business outcomes through data analysis.
5. Interpret the research output of different research analyses in the business context.
6. Develop an ability to apply analytical tools in related disciplines such as Managerial Economics,
Operations Management, Business Analytics II, Marketing Analytics, Marketing Research,
Portfolio Management, Financial Econometrics, etc.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

The course is expected to lead to:


1. Conceptual understanding is necessary to meaningfully analyze data.
2. Apply descriptive analytics and visualization techniques to interpret business data.
3. Ability to apply different analytical techniques in solving research and business problems.
4. Ability to identify appropriate analytical tools and techniques for a given situation to arrive at
decision-making.
5. Ability to evaluate different alternatives based on available data and select the best alternative.
