Summary Of Devils Child By Jucida Priest
Devils Child Juda Priest Devils child by Juda Priest is about a relationship in which one of the
people is seen as a devil by the other. In Where are you going, where have you been? , Connie a
young teenager meets a boy who later on the reader realizes is seen as the devil. In the song it
says, I believe you re the devil, I believe you re the devil s child (Halford 15 16). This closely
relates to everyone seeing Arnold as the devil in the story. At one point in the story Arnold gives
Connie a hint to his real identity when he says, Now, theses numbers are a secret code, honey
(Oates 318). It then goes on to when he reads to numbers out loud to her 33,19,17. When you take
a closer look at these numbers three plus three is six, nine upside is six and seven minus one is
six, equally 666, the devil s numbers. The Devil in Her Heart The Beatles In the story, Arnold tries
to get Connie to come to the dark side and she eventually does. Connie was innocent before she met

In the song it says, When I jumped out on that road, I got no love, no love you d call real, Ain t

once she steps outside her house with Arnold there is no turning back, she is now on the dark
side. Arnold tries to convince Connie to go with him by saying, I ll have my arms tight around
you so you won t need to try and get away and I ll show you what love is like (Oates 325). Once
Connie does leave with him she notices the vast amount of land behind him that she had never seen
before. This represents the unknown in her life that comes with running away with Arnold. Connie
knows that now he is in her house, she thought I m not going to see my mother again (Oates 325).
If she leaves she won t have her family anymore and this song relates to that because it says, Ain t

In Athens, the population was divided into four social classes based on their wealth and how
much land they owned. People could change classes if they made more money. In Sparta, all male
citizens were equal if they finished their education. Athenians owned many slaves even poor
families had some slaves these slaves were captured when the army invaded countries and took
them back to be slaves. Slaves had no power or statuses they did have the right to make a family

Santa Dish
The dish Prawns(shrimp) in Cassava sauce(Bobó de camarão) is made with ingredients that
includes shrimps, cassava (similar to yucca), and tomato sauce. The first step is marinating shrimps
in lime juice, salt, and pepper. Then the shells and heads of the shrimps are boiled and simmered in
water, which will be use it later to make the tomato sauce. The cassavais then peeled and boiled with
an onion and bay leaves. After the cassava has cooked, the ropey fibers are removed. Then the
cassava has to be mashed while adding coconut milk until soft. Next, the shrimps are briefly fried.
Chopped tomato, tomato puree, the onion that was previously boiled, and the prawn stock are
simmered in a pan to make a tomato sauce. The mashed cassava and coriander(cilantro) are mixed
together with the tomato sauce in the pan. This delicious and rich in flavor dish is then topped with
the fried shrimp and served with steamed rice on the side. This recipe has such unique and flavorful
characteristics. Although I thought the consistency of the sauce would be thinner, the texture came
out to be a little thicker and softer than expected. It had very appealing colors, including the orange
form the tomato sauce and the green from the cilantro. I really enjoyed every aspect of this dish. The

Women s Portrayal Of Women Essay
In Early modern literature, there are many pieces of literature that are written by men who talk
about women in ways that objectify and try to control them because back then women were not
given much agency in society. The women that are being portrayed in this type of literature about
unrequited love are seen as extremely flat characters who are just the objects of affections for the
narrator. This is problematic as it just portrays women as someone for the narrator of the poem to
pin over although women are so much more than that. However, there are some authors trying to
empower women and acknowledge the issues within their patriarchal society which are still
prevalent to this day. These issues still apply today because there is still blatant sexism when
positions of power are still dominated by men. There are some feminist writers on our syllabus
even though a lot of them could not care less about how they represent women because they are
only suppose to be an accessory to the story. They are always trying to describe what their perfect
woman is like but she does not exist in real life. It causes unrealistic standards for women. For
example, John Donne s poem The Flea is empowering as he is questioning society s views about
sex before marriage. Donne is giving his beloved more agency throughout the story by criticizing the
unreasonable expectations put on by institutions that govern society, like the church. An author in

In 1921, Vyse had sent to the RA a number of models for consideration by the exhibition
committee. To his chagrin, he received rejection slips for all of his entries. Further exacerbating
the situation, the same committee accepted Parr s entry for exhibition. The work exhibited by
Parr, simply titled Group (RA1192), now identified as Boy and Turkey. The composition is
impressive and beautifully observed, the entire group roughly 18 cms high. It features a young
apple cheeked Malcolm Parr astride a turkey bird, as seen in the original monochrome postcard
(Fig, 37). In actuality, the golden haired Malcolm sits astride a white turkey with mottled wings
(Fig 38). The composition depicts a large turkey striding out, as though at a run. The right leg
crooked and the left leg extended with claws outspread. To provide further stabilising points of
contact with the plinth, the lowered wings are in touch with the grassy knoll of the base. Parr s
displays finely detailed modelling, from the puffed out feathers on the bird s chest to the tail and
individually sculpted wing feathers. The turkey s body, initially covered with white tin glaze,
afterwards he applied the enamel colours over this glaze, such as the two decorative bands of blue
across the spread feathers of the tail. The barred wings and lower parts of the body are decorated

War In A Separate Peace
For me, this moment four years is a moment in history was the war. The war was and is a reality
for me. I still instinctively live and think in its atmosphere (32). This quote made by Gene
encapsulates the major role World War II plays in A Separate Peace. John Knowles, the author,
utilizes the war as a spectacular backdrop for his novel. In fact, without World WarII, this book
would just be another story lost in the churn of the millions of novels published. A Separate Peace,
which would lack an external conflict, have only a paucity of symbolisms and connections, and
suffer from a lack of explanation for many of the character s actions, would need to be completely
rewritten or scratched altogether. The absence of World War II would jeopardize... Show more

Three of the main characters, Gene, Brinker, and Leper would all dramatically change if there
was no war. Probably the most obvious of these characters who were impacted by the World War
II was Leper. The innocent of the class, Leper never knew what he was getting into when he
enlisted to ski in the war. Leper s life is then turned upside down, and he goes completely crazy.
Without the war, Leper s character would need to be developed in some alternative way. Brinker
also completely changes and manipulates his actions as a consequence of this war. Known
formerly as the most responsible, respectable leader on campus at Devon, Brinker morphs into a
character that seems particularly indifferent and downright rebellious. Knowles indirectly
characterizes him through Gene s thoughts, mentioning that Brinker the Lawgiver had turned rebel
for the Duration (122). It is very difficult for one to say that without the war, Brinker would select
the path of rebellion, rather than stay serious and have a possibly brighter future. Finally, Gene is
not only affected by his internal struggles but also the struggle that is going on overseas as he
completes his years at Devon. Like most things that happen in the protagonist s life, Gene is never
concrete on his stance or the following actions he should take on these. He desires to lose his old,
murky life in
The History Of Modern Latin America
The history of modern Latin America begins after the Second World War when the economic
changes wrought by the war, namely the shift towards manufacturing and urbanization, produced
political and diplomatic changes across the Americas. The end of the war led to increased imports
from the West, reducing the competitiveness of Latin American industry. Additionally, falling crop
prices led to increasing urbanization. The result of these economic and demographic shifts was the
rise of a populist movement throughout Latin America. Populismin Latin America was characterized
by a combination of nationalism, often coded with the language of anti imperialism and anti
Americanism, and class politics. However, populism did not appeal solely to workers; rather,
populist leaders attempted to create broad coalitions of people who believed that Latin American
countries needed economic and political reform. The populists were generally opposed by the rural
elite, which had held power throughout Latin America since the age of colonialism. Additionally,
many Latin American leaders began to embrace dependencia theory; i.e. they believed that Latin
America would remain poor and under the control of Western business interests as long as Latin
America remained dependant on Western, specifically American, capital and imports. These leaders
advocated Import Substitution Industrialization (ISI), a form of industrialization in which a country
would become self sustaining by replacing

Shock loadings or immediate loadings in a short period of time usually bring dramatic changes in
water quality. These changes may become permanent if shock loadings take place several times in a
year. As these pollutants travel along a river, they may settle down at various distances from the
original point of introduction, and slowly start affecting the local environment. Slow dissolving
toxic substances, such as heavy metals and PCBs, usually show such characteristics as (

Various chemicals have different types of impacts on the water quality. For example, lead bio
accumulates on the bottom, and may retard fish growth and reduce photosynthesis. At certain
concentrations, zinc and copper are toxic to fish and aquatic micro invertebrates. Cadmium and
chromium could be mutagenic and carcinogenic. Biochemical oxygen demanding material can
deplete the oxygen level in the aquatic ecosystem resulting in decrease in the fish population. Excess
nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, cause algal blooms which block sunlight and consume
oxygen as they decompose. Oil and grease from automobile usage, as well as improper

Total Quality Management Definition
Introduction
Total quality management is the quality emphasis that comprehends the entire organization, from
customers to suppliers.it stresses a commitment by management to have a continuing companywide
drive toward excellence in all aspects of products and services that are important to the customer. In
such a competitive environment resulted from world globalization and liberalization, firms survive
with much difficulty unless they create competitive advantage over their competitors (Adam et al,
2001; Samson Terziovski, 1999; Terziovski Samson, 1999).

Therefore, TQM refers to a management process and set of disciplines that are coordinated to ensure
that the organization consistently meets and exceeds customer requirements. TQM engages all
divisions, departments and levels of the organization. TQM companies ... Show more content on

(1987). So, most of the quality concepts which mentioned above focuses on providing a product that
satisfies and meet the customers needs. Quality is therefore extremely necessary for the
organizations to ensure that they have delivered their products or services according to the customer
expectations and requirements.

Definitions of Total Quality Management

Numerous definitions have been given on Total Quality Management (TQM) by quality gurus,
practitioners and academician. Besterfield defined TQM as both a philosophy and a set of guiding
principles that represents the foundation of a continuously improving organization. It integrates
fundamental management techniques, existing improvement efforts and technical tools under a
disciplined approach (D.H. Besterfield, 1995). Using a three word definition, Wilkinson and Wither
defines TQM as below

Total: every person is involved (its customers and suppliers)

Quality: customer requirements are met exactly
Management: senior executives are fully

Twain s Huckleberry Finn and Kerouac s On the Road The River and the Road

One element that separates a good novel from a great novel is its enduring effects on society. A
great novel transcends time; it changes and mirrors the consciousness of a civilization. One such
novel is Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. For the past one hundred and fifteen years,
it has remained in print and has been one of the most widely studied texts in high schools and
colleges. According to Lionel Trilling, its success is due to Twain s voice of unpretentious truth (92)
embodied in the young narrator Huck Finn who reveals the hypocrisy and moral deprivation of
society through his innocent observations. It is a picaresque novel, or novel of ... Show more content

Mark Twain s influence upon Kerouac is evident in On the Road as is suggested in biographical
details. Warren French states in his biography of Kerouac that Kerouac s first attempt to write a
novel at age 11 was an apparently quite slavish imitation of [Twain s] Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn (4), and Gerald Nicosia notes that Twain was one of the writers that Kerouac followed in his
use of idiomatic American diction (344). In addition, Kerouac himself warns his editor Helen
Taylor in a letter, no more irresponsible copy editing of my Mark Twain Huckleberry prose (131).
He imitated the naïve prose of Twain that only observes life and does not judge it, thereby creating
an honest reflection of life that ultimately affects the moral sensibilities of its audience.

One human aspect of life that is mirrored in the two narratives is the familial relationship between
each novel s two main characters. Huck would be as incomplete without Jim, as Sal would be
without Dean. Every place that Huck lives with Jim is his home. When they return to the island
after finding a corpse housebound and drifting, Huck explains, We got home all safe (Twain 72),
and after the fog separates them, he conveys, We said there warn t no home like a raft, after all
(124). Their relationship, symbolized in their emphasis of home, reveals the need for strong familial
ties that enable them to overcome the harsh social realities they encounter.

Public Opinion On The Topic Of Climate Change Remains Divided
Public opinion on the topic of climate change remains divided despite over two decades worth of
research and a strong consensus in the scientific community (Deryugina and Shurchkov, 2016). In an
experimental survey, the authors tested whether providing the public with information based on
scientific agreement on the occurrence and causes of climate changewould affect the respondent s
beliefs. They found that not only did the public significantly underestimate the extent of the
scientific consensus, the survey also indicated that those who were given concrete information about
scientist s views were more likely to report believing that climate change was already happening and
that it was caused by humans. Moreover, the results concluded... Show more content on

1). There are several natural causes which will dictate which direction and by what amount the
temperature changes. Some of these changes are more permanent, most are temporary. One natural
cause of climate change is solar irradiance, a measurement of solar power received from the sun and
measured at the Earth. Studies have shown that changes in solar irradiance have contributed to
climate trends in the past. According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), an
example of this is the Little Ice Age, which was a period of regionally cold conditions between
1650 to 1850, that is thought to have been possibly triggered by a decrease in solar output from the
sun. Be that as it may, NASA also states that since 1750, the average amount of energy coming from
the sun has either remained constant or increased only slightly, therefore changes in solar irradiance
cannot explain current global warming data (2017, Solar irradiance section). Likewise, volcanism,
another example of a natural cause of climate change, is also regarded by some scientists as being
the origin of the Little Ice Age. During volcanic eruptions, tiny particles called aerosols are emitted
into the atmosphere. Once in the atmosphere, aerosols reflect solar radiation back into space which
cools the planet. In his article, Causes of Climate Change Over the Past 1000 Years , Crowley
(2000) explains that between 1400 to 1850, volcanic contribution indicated an
