The Importance Of Drug Smuggling In Australia
Nearly one third of the 545 Australians currently imprisoned or facing charges overseas were
convicted or arrested for drug related crimes, according to the latest figures from the Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Drug smuggling overseas is an enormous problem in our generation.
Our society has seen countless of offenders in the newspapers and on social media, including the
outrageously infamous Bali Nine, Cassie Sainsbury and Schapelle Corby as the drug smugglers most
emphasised in the media in the last 15 years. Serious criminal offences committed like these cases
see drug smugglers sentenced to harsh sentences in overseas countries like Bali and Columbia.
However for large cases like these, special applications can be made for Serious Overseas Criminal
Matters through the government. The only way to be eligible for Serious Overseas Criminal Matters
is by being sentenced to either imprisonment for 20 years or more, or the death penalty. To be
sentenced to convictions like this the person must have committed a serious offence, involving a
large amount of drugs. When amounts like these are used in cases it s hard to understand how the
convicted person is not guilty. It goes without saying innocent until proven guilty and cases like
Schapelle Corby and Cassie Sainsbury continually express their innocence, however with evidence
and flaws in their cases it s hard to see how innocent is the case. Drug smuggling, whether it be a
mule or the ringleader is a seriously
Remember The Titans Equality
Remembering The Struggle The movie Remember the Titans directed by Boaz Yakin is great
depiction of civil rights and the struggle for political equality that African Americans have dealt
with over the past centuries. Although this movie is a representation of the later years of the
twentieth century, the racism and challenges African Americans face are still present in todays
society. The movie takes place just about 7 years after the Civil Right Act of 1964 and the Voting
Rights Act of 1965 was passed, so American were still fairly new to the whole idea of equality. The
movie is based in 1971 in Alexandria, Virginiaat T.C Williams High School, which was a school for
whites, but since the turn of equality for African Americans and women,... Show more content on

Williams High School has its first day of classes the movie shows riots outside of the school,
mainly white parents, protesting about how they don t want the school to be integrated. This
scene is a great example of the few years before the Civil Rights Act right after Brown v. Board of
Education of Topeka (1954) when the court declared that the separate but equal was unacceptable in
public schools because it violated equal protection (Greenberg 526). Regardless of that outcome, the
South did not feel the need to change their schools systems. Once the Courts decided they were
going to enforce the civil rights the South went into chaos. They formed Citizens Council that
boycotted on anybody who supported desegregation (Greenberg 526). These Citizens Council
groups had taken over the South; by 1956 it had grown to over 250,000 members (Greenberg
Plato s Levels Of Reality
Final Essay: Plato s Levels of Reality 1.Introduction Plato, arguably one of the most famous
philosophers in history is known for his dialogues and theory of Forms. The theory of Forms
argues that ideas (non physical forms) are more real than tangible objects or what our senses
perceive. According to Plato, there is the visible realm and intelligible realm. Reality could be
divided into three different levels; the level of appearances, the real level, and the ideal level
which he explains through the analogy of the Divided Line in The Republic. By viewing reality
in this bifurcated way, it is still philosophically useful to an extent as it provides different
perspectives to worldly problems. It forces humans to critically evaluate their knowledge, along
with ethical and practical considerations and practices When adopting this view, it should be done
so with caution as there are still some flaws within this way of thinking. 2.Main Body An
extension of the Sun simile where Plato attempts to explain goodness and the nature of reality and
knowledge, the Divided Line extrapolates on the relationship between the two realities and their
corresponding knowledge. The line is divided into two unequal parts the smaller part would be the
Visible Realm while the larger part would be the Intelligible realm . The two parts are then divided
into two unequal parts again of the same ratio the smaller part of the Visible realm is labelled

Block 7
The Wizard of Oz has been a popular and symbolic film throughout our previous history. Both the
book and movie have been recognised as classic literature for children and adults alike. Although
they share the same concept, there are a few important differences between the novel and the film.
In the movie: It tells the story of a girl named Dorothy, who ends up in a tornado and gets hurled
away from her farm in Kansas to a land that is not like anything she has experienced before. After
Dorothy s house falls and kills the Wicked Witch in the first scene, Dorothy is welcomed by the
Munchkins. The kind witch, Glinda, appears and explains to Dorothy that in order to find out
about getting back home, she needs to follow the yellow brick road. This road leads her to
Emerald city, where she must ask the grand Wizard to get her back to Kansas. Along her way down
the yellow brick road Dorothy encounters some characters who all have something they want to ask
the wizard. However, when they finally arrive at the Emerald City, they discover the wizard is just a
fraud and that everything they had been searching for they can find deep within themselves
(metaphorically rather than physically).
What most individuals can t seem to decipher is that The Wizard of Oz referenced several late 1800
s political issues and ideas. Whether these references are true or not is difficult to say.

Final Draft Paper 4
Human Mind Control
OCD is a phrase that gets to the existential core of worry, a clenched, demonic doubting that
overrides evidence, empiricism, plain common sense (Slater234). The meme theory states that a
meme consists of everything that is passed from person to person (Blackmore 37). In Strange
Creatures by Susan Blackmore and Who Holds the Clicker? by Lauren Slater both authors discuss
the control humans have over their minds. In Who Holds the Clicker Lauren Slater discusses DBS
(deep brain simulation), which is a type of psychosurgery in which electrical impulses are sent to
certain portions of the brain to control and change the emotions one feels. She discusses both the
positive and negatives of deep brain simulation through a specific patient named Mario and also
presents the control DBS can have over one s mind. Similarly, Blackmore in Strange Creatures
discusses the meme theory, which consists of any idea that is passed down from person to person.
Both authors provide information that allows people to draw conclusions relating to why people do
not have control over their minds. Even though some people believe that humans do have control
over their minds, Blackmore and Slater both successfully portray that in actuality humans do not
have any control over their minds because human thoughts and ideas are unoriginal products of
external forces, many human thoughts occur at deeper level of consciousness, and
Felix Longoria Wake Summary
Patrick J. Carrol s Felix Longoria s Wake: bereavement, racism, and the rise of Mexican American
activism is a book of significance in the fight for equal rights for all Americans especially people of
minority ethnicities like Mexican Americans. Carrol takes the reader on a tour of South Texas,
where Mexicans and Anglos are segregated by train tracks whether that be schools, housing and even
the cemetery where after death Mexican Americans are being segregated and discriminated against.

white people in the town would not like a Mexican American to use the chapel. This revelation of
discrimination, racism and ethnocentrism in the small town of Three Rivers will lead Felix
Longoria family, Dr. Hector P. Garciaand LBJ on a three to four months crusade on a national level
and local level fight for Mexican American civil rights in South Texas. Even though Private Felix
Longoria never gets the wake he is rightfully deserved, he is buried with full military honors.
Patrick J. Carroll followed complete a thorough thesis in Felix Longoria wake. The book is about
activism that shows racism, discrimination and
Marilyn Monroe Biography
Once an actress said, I am trying to find myself as a person. Millions of people live their entire
lives without finding themselves (Krohn 109). An actress that is still famous today for her
looks, her style on screen, and the way she made people swoon as they saw the sight of her.
Marilyn Monroe, a star whom lived in the 1900s and yet still lives in our hearts to this exact day.
Her signature smile and dress that she wears, the blonde, and curled hair is an image that
everyone knows. Her career inspired others and changed the life for movie productions. She was a

However, she didn t just do nothing and leave, but she left an open pathway for actresses to come.
She found herself even after a traumatizing childhood, and hardships. She s a role model for every
woman because she stood up for what she believed. She fought through to entertain the people
who adored her for the way she acted on screen. What people didn t know was that in the end, she
hated herself without a doubt. That didn t effect her at all, she pushed those feelings aside and
continued with the life of being perfect. Marilyn Monroe went against the worst in her life, and still
came out as one of the most famous people in the world. That shows me that I, can do the
Hate And The Video Games Can Be Played By Anyone Because...
Hate in a Video Game Most video games can be played by anyone because of their safe ratings for
younger people. Games rated mature for violence or any other unsafe qualities, usually are
played by people over the age of 17. Shooting games are one of the more violent genres that are
played by people all the time. Usually putting two factions or types of people to fight each other in
hatred of the other. The killing of one group of people in a gamecan be taken by some as racism or
anti semitic. But most gamesdon t try to disseminate or intentionally express hateful racism to other
cultures. Rather, encourage and build positive cooperation with others in the gaming community
and not being fazed by hatred or racism. Award winning journalist Daniel Terdiman writes that
video games have hateful meanings toward a certain group of people, usually having to kill or
destroy the opposing side. Lets admit it, killing someone in a game is really fun, but needs to be
separate from the real. First person shooters are a genre that hategroups could take advantage of by
getting a message across from killing a certain kind of enemy. There are plenty of games that

is not always intentionally done. Small developers

Pixar Animation Studios Essay
I didn t come all this way just to see you quit, this quote by the character Doc Hudson from Pixar s
animated movie, Cars, expresses the feeling Pixar based its company upon for the past twenty
years. Pixar has grown, and now, families around the world recognize the company s name. Over the
years, Pixar Animation Studios evolved from a small, amateur business into a large, thriving, world
renowned company. Twenty years ago, George Lucas started a new division under Lucasfilm. The
Computer Research and Development Division at Lucasfilm was set up to create new technologies.

Disney would also own marketing and licensing fees of the characters and films. Pixar was solely
responsible for the content and animation of the three full length films. Together the alliance
created Toy Story, the first full length computer animated film. The film was nominated for
several awards including three Oscars and two Golden Globes. As the award nominations kept
growing, the money continued to flow into the company. Disney received the most profit from
the movie, but Pixar managed to negotiate with its partner to receive a part of the gross revenues
from the box office and video sales. Pixar made a profit from RenderMan and continued to receive
awards for the program. By 1995, Pixar sold over 100,000 copies and signed a huge licensing deal
with Bill Gates and Microsoft. The company announced it s first ever profit of $3.1 million on
revenues of $10.6 million. Prior to Thanksgiving, Toy Story went public and the company s
success grew. The company grossed $40 million in its first weekend premiere. The movie became
the highest grossing film in 1995 and received $362 million worldwide in domestic box office
receipts. The following year, Toy Story was released on video to the public, and Pixar was already
immersed in the next Disney movie, Bug s Life. (www.fundinguniverse.com, Pixar company history)

The Three Main Factors Of The Determinants Of Job...
3.4 Determinants of job satisfaction Determinants of job satisfaction are various features of the job
environment and which are considered the causes of job satisfaction. These features include
characteristics of jobs and job tasks, as well as various aspects of the organization (Spector, 2000).
According to Spector (1997), determinants of job satisfaction can be classified into two major
categories; First, the job environment itself and factors associated with the job are important
influences on job satisfaction. This includes how people are treated, the nature of job tasks, relations
with other people in the workplace, and rewards. Second, there are individual factors that the person
brings to the job. This includes both personality and prior experiences; both categories of the
determinants often work together to influence employee job satisfaction. While Furnham (1992) and
Ting (1996, 1997) noted that despite the variety of variables suggested as having a major, minor or
moderating effects on job satisfaction, it is possible to divide these factors into three distinct groups
(1) Job characteristics, these included five sub variables: supervisory position, skill utilization,
satisfaction with pay, satisfaction with the tasks, and satisfaction with working conditions (2)
Organizational characteristics, these included two sub... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This classification is similar to the previous one; the author mixed between the job characteristics
and the organizational characteristics and put them in one factor (work situation). The individual
characteristics equal to the personality factor in the new classification. George and Jones (2000)
only added one new factor in this classification. It is the social influence. The study explains each of
them as
The Meaning Of Tally
This quote, written by author Kate Angell, stresses that outer beauty is only the fragile glass of
inner beauty, which is the reality. When reading this quote, I remembered a chapter from the book
that really resembled and related to it. Something that could relate to anyone in any social
encountered situation, and give a new meaning to beauty in itself. In this short chapter, Tally and
Shay are making morphs, an early copy of their pretty selves before they receive their operation.
Though Tally has made her dream morph, and is mentally counting down the days until their
operations, Shay is not. In fact, when they were making Shay s morph, and she suggests that they go
hoverboarding instead, Tally insists they have to get this right .

Reasons, why I have chosen this snapshot, is because I think this image contains something that
makes a lasting impression on me. It has a lot of good things I can talk about this snapshot

People who are in this image are my family members. I say that out of all the other images I have
this is one of the favorite ones I can actually say I have a lasting impression. This snapshot image is
not really bright image picture because it was taken by the timewhen the sun was already going
down. I have an amazing time that day we had a lot of fun with each other, family times are
always great. Not so long ago on a weekend when my family and I had recently gotten out of the
church we got home and told each other, what we were going to do today the entire day. No one
came up with a good idea besides staying home and watching movies, but I mean that is not
anything new we don t do or have not done at all. So I right away thought of any good places to go
to and I had remembered of places my friends had once told me about. I told my parents and
explained to them about the place. I told them that it was not a really far place to go to but it was
a place where we would have to walk a lot. At first, my mother was not as convinced because of the
