Act Of 1964
This Civil Rights Act is a challenge to all of us to go to work in our communities and our states,
in our homes and in our hearts, to eliminate the last vestiges of injustice in our beloved country ,
this quote from Lyndon B. Johnson truly represents how difficult it was to get to the civil rights
act and how hard it was once it was passed. Many cases were apart of this act that played a big role
at the U.S. Supreme Court. It wasn t only race that the civil rights act of 1964 ended it also ended
segregation in race, color, religion, sex or national origin. The Civil rights act was a big movement
effecting so many people: Dred Scott v. Sanford, Plessy v. Furguson, and Brown v. Board of

the board of education It was a milestone decision, the Supreme Court ruled that separating children
in public schools on the basis of race was unconstitutional. On May 17, 1954 the U.S. Supreme Court
Justice Earl Warren delivered the unanimously ruling in the landmark. State sanctioned segregation
of public schools was a violation of the 14th amendment and was therefore unconstitutional to
segregate. Then on May 31, 1955, Warren read the Court s unanimous decision, now referred to as
Brown II, instructing the states to begin desegregation plans with all deliberate speed. the end of
legalized racial segregation in the schools of the United States, overruling the separate but equal
principle set forth in the 1896 Plessy v. Ferguson case. Martin Luther King Jr. Once said, There
comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he
must take it because conscience tells him it is right. This historic decision marked the end of the
separate but equal precedent set by the Supreme Court nearly 60 years earlier in Plessy v.
Ferguson. The Civil rights act was a big movement effecting so many people in the United States:
Dred Scott v. Sanford, Plessy v. Furguson, and Brown v. Board of education. In the Dred Scott v.
Sanford a slave fighted for his freedom little did he know that it would effect so many people later
on in life as did all of these cases. The civil rights act was such a experience for people
Mcdonald s Stock Symbol Or Stock Ticker
The name of the company I decided to research for my project is Mcdonalds. The Mcdonald s
stock symbol or stock ticker is MCD and this company trades in the New York Stock Exchange.
The McDonald s headquarters complex, McDonald s Plaza, is located in Oak Brook, Illinois. The
business began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald in
San Bernardino, California. The present corporation dates its founding to the opening of a
franchised restaurant by businessman Ray Kroc in Des Plaines, Illinois. Ray Kroc later
purchased the McDonald brothers equity in the company and led its worldwide expansion, and
the company became listed on the public stock markets ten years later. McDonald s restaurants
are found now in 118 countries and territories around the world and serve 68 million customers
each day. McDonald s operates over 35,000 restaurants worldwide, employing more than 1.7
million people. As you might have guessed, a company as large as Mcdonalds has a ton of
corporate level executives. The chairman of the board of directors for Mcdonald s is Andrew J.
McKenna. Andrew James McKenna was born in Chicago, Illinois on 17 September 1929.
McKenna graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BS degree in Business
Administration and Marketing, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from DePaul
University College of Law. McKenna has been chairman of McDonald s since 2004. The rest of the
members of the board of directors include
The Laughing Man By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Laughing Man In our daily lives there exists both the real world, and a fictional world.
Sometimes, especially when we were children, we find ourselves living more in that fictional
world. Why wouldn t we? This is our safe place, a place where it can become so just by thinking it.
We have total control over what happens in our fictional world. Nothing is supposed to go wrong
there, right? In the short storyThe Laughing Man, a nine year old boy recounts his experiences in
New York City, in the year 1928. The Laughing Man portrays how several young boys will soon
realize that even in their safe, fictional world, things go wrong and how soon they will lose the
innocence of their youth. The story starts out about a man, by the name of John Gedsudski, who
is over an organization of young boys known as the Comanche Club. The boys who belong to this
club call Gedsudski the Chief. Every day the Chief takes the boys on some sort of outing, usually
consisting of playing some sort of ball. The day is usually ended by the Chief telling part of the
long, drawn out fictional story called The Laughing Man. What the boys did not realize at first was,
that the Chief is actually the Laughing Man. The story of The Laughing Man was a symbol of
youthful innocence and an escape from the Chief s own personal life, in the story the Chief could
Guests of the Nation, a Review of Conflicts Essay
Guests of the Nation, a short story by Frank O Connor takes place in 1921 during Ireland s fight
for independence from British rule. Set in a small cottage in the countryside of Ireland, the story
tells of two Englishmen who are prisoners and are being watched over by three Irishmen. The story
tells of the relationship that develops between the captives and their captors and explores the conflict
that arises when the soldiers are called to duty.

The story consisted of seven main characters, each adding depth to the story and contributing to the
development of the plot. Two of the seven characters where the Englishmen Hawkins and Belcher.

Noble and Bonaparte were the young soldiers who were guarding the Englishmen. Both
befriended the Englishmen as they played cards with each other and even argued about politics
and religion. Jeremiah Donavan, on the other hand, did not have such a rapport with the prisoners.
Though he supervised the card games and even yelled at the Englishman Hawkins as if he were
one if his own soldiers, he kept his distance and was thus not as close as Noble and Bonaparte were.

The plot of the story unfolded as Jeremiah Donavan revealed that the prisoners were actually
hostages and that there was a possibility that they would have to execute the Englishmen. As the
story continued to unfold, the possibility became reality when Feeney the intelligence officer
revealed that the prisoners were ordered to be executed. It is in this pivotal moment that the conflict
of the story arises and that the soldiers are faced with a conflict that in turn, proves to be deeply
complex in that it is both internal and external.

While externally the soldiers had to deal with the act of actually shooting the prisoners (more
simply killing a man), internally Bonaparte and Noble dealt with the internal conflict of having to
kill a friend. As Hawkins pleaded the case of friends shooting friends, we were forced as readers to
also question the call of duty to a cause versus the call of
Compare And Contrast Squid And Octopus

Squids vs. Octopus The ocean animals I am going to compare are octopus and squid. I am
comparing these two things because they are unique ocean creatures. I think that it is interesting
how they both catch their prey, and how they live. It is also really interesting to learn what they eat
and how they do things.
The first thing I am comparing is an octopus to a squid. An octopus has 8 tentacles, and uses all of
them to catch their prey. They live in dens on the seafloor. Octopus lose their outer shell and get a
new one back. They also have a round head. Octopus lifespan is 3 5 years. It has two eyes and
four pairs of arms, and like other cephalopods, it is bilaterally symmetric. It has a beak, with its
mouth at the center point of the arms. They feed mainly on worms, crabs, whelks and clams. The
giant Pacific octopus feeds on shrimp, clams, lobsters, and fish, and even larger prey, such as
sharks and birds. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center points of the arms. Octopuses are ocean
creatures that are most famous for having eight arms and bulbous heads. They squirt ink to deter
predators; and being boneless, they can squeeze into (or out of) tight spaces. The water depth in
which they live ranges from the shallow, coastal waters to about about 330 feet deep. The ... Show

What Is The Theme Of The Movie Rudy
Rudy is one of the most motivational movies of all time. The movie starts with a scene of kids
playing a pick up game of football, and the game is coming down to the final play. The ball is
thrown to Rudy who misses it and the other teams wins. All his life, people have told Rudy he s not
good enough, not smart enough, not big enough but nothing can stop his impossible dream of
playing football for Notre Dame. From the time he was a young boy, Rudy would watch the Notre
Dame games and imagen himself running out of that tunnel. His determination to join the Fighting
Irish is really presented in the movie. However, his blue collar family only laughs at his ambitions.

The Impact Of Tourism On The Australian Economy
Describe, analyze and evaluate how Australian tourism in general and more specifically the various
tourist segments you ve identified contribute to the Australian economy and society in general. In
particular, consider how various segments may impact GDP growth, public goods and open access
resources . Include an assessment of how exchange rate fluctuations may influence different tourist
segments.
Australia s tourism is an important part of the Australian economy. As mentioned earlier, tourism
represented 3.0% of Australia s GDP in 2014/2015. Another important part of the Australian tourism
is the domestic tourism, which represented 73% of the direct tourism s GDP in 2014/2015. In 2015
there were 7.4 million visitors in Australia and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A public good is a good that individuals can consume without reducing its availability to other
individuals. These goods are typically referred to as nonrivalrous and nonexcludable. A common
resource or open access resource is a resource that provides users with tangible benefits. A concern
that common resources have is overuse. When talking about overuse it is very natural to mention
the free rider problem that many countries are facing and especially Australia. The theory behind
a free rider is a person who benefits from a good that possibly have been made or paid for by
others without contributing to the good themselves. In the Africa Progress Panel s 2015 report, it
was stated that Australia has gone from a leadership to a free rider status when talking about
climate diplomacy. It is believed that developed countries such as Australia are causing the
majority of the problem through for example gas emissions. A research shows that many of the
countries who are the ones creating the most gas emitting are also the ones who are least
vulnerable to climate change and are essentially the free riders. It is here important to remember
that a modern example of a common resource is climate stability. The problem with Australia
essentially being a free rider is that Australia is a country with a lot of wildlife and nature. Many
people travel to Australia to experience the nature and wildlife but if they continue being free
riders it can result in lower GDP and lower income per capita because the wildlife and beautiful
nature with high possibility would be ruined thus fewer people would want to visit the country. An
example of this would be the Great Barrier Reef who recently was pronounced
Apothecary In The Colonial Era
Trades There were many interesting trades presented on this website. One of these trades that
interested me the most was apothecary. Apothecary in the colonial era was a druggist who had a
similar roles to what a doctor does today. They didn t just provide medical treatment, or prescribe
drugs but also performed surgeries as well. Reading more about this trade, I discovered that some
apothecaries even trained to become man midwives. Before reading this article, I had the
assumption that the majority of mid wives were female, and that most men didn t handle child birth
in that time era. Furthermore, some of the ingredients used in colonial remedies, that is still found
in modern medicine. Some include, but are limited to; chalk for heartburn (Tums), calamine for
skin irritations (Aveeno lotions) and many more. Like many drug stores today, apothecaries also
sold household items and not just drugs. The next most interesting trade in the colonial period was
Gunsmiths. It is very neat to me how the gunsmiths didn t only work with metals but also with
wood. In fact, the stock of a gun was made with one piece of wood and later engraved. Even the
metal used in the guns were intricately engraved as well. The gunsmith wasn t just limited to making
firearms... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first house that caught my attention was the St. George Tucker House. It was home to St.
George Tucker, who was a lawyer, Revolutionary War militia officer, and judge, a very interesting
man in my opinion. This beautiful home was added onto several times to accommodate his nine
children and five stepchildren. It is said that Tucker was the first in Williamsburg to construct a
bathroom. Another interesting fact about the Tucker house is that they were the first in
Williamsburg to put a Christmas tree in the house in 1842. Sadly, the St. George Tucker is not a

The Case Of Brinegar V. United States
1.Probable cause is a set of facts surrounding a specific circumstances that leads a reasonable person
to believe an individual is committing, has committed or is about to commit a crime. Probable cause
is required in the instances of an arrest, search and seizure and the issuance of a warrant. To
ESTABILISH reasonable cause the officer can use any trustworthy information. For example the
office could use his/her experience, informant information, first hand observations or knowledge,
victim reports, anonymous tips, or hearsay.
In the case of Brinegar v. United States, the petitioner claimed that the arresting officer violated his
4th amendment rights and illegally search his car. In the search and siezure the officer found that the
petitioner was transporting intoxicating liquor into Oaklahoma, which is a direct violation of law.
The courts found that the arresting office had arrested the petitioner on the same violation several
months earlier and this was enough reasonable cause to conduct the search ans seizure.

Reasonable suspicion is different from probable cause as reasonable suspicion allows an officer to
temporarily detain a person if the officer suspects the person of committing a crime, previously
committed a crime, or is about to commit a crime. This will allow the officer the time to conduct an
investigation that may allow him/her to find the facts that are required to arrest per probable cause.
Therefore, reasonable suspicion is thought of to be a hunch

Examine some of the key principles of the argument for the existence of God based upon religious
experiences
Religious experiences are experiences we have of the divine or God. These experiences may be
Mystical experiences, conversion experiences or revelatory experiences. Paul Tillich states that
religious experience is a feeling of ultimate concern , a feeling that demands a decisive decision
from the one receiving it. He describes it as an encounter followed by a special understanding of its
religious significance.
The argument for religious experiences is based on 3 premises. Premise one states that the
experience of X indicates the reality of X. One problem with this premise is that the experience of
X does not always indicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problems with premise three can also be highlighted by looking at the religious experience of
Mosses when he saw God in the burning bush. When God came to him, Mosses had just killed a
man and run away into the desert. Therefore he could be experiencing extreme guilt which could
cause him to have an illusion. Also if he is in the desert then he was most likely dehydrated which
again could cause an illusion. Therefore other factors may be used to explain religious experiences.
Another example to support premise three, and one that addresses the problem of the subjective
nature of religious experiences, is corporate religious experiences. This is when large numbers of
people all have the same religious experience at the same time. The fact that they are experienced by
many leads to the fact that they can be objectively tested and the accounts validated adding further
support for the argument.
Those that argue that religious experiences are proof of the existence of God usually argue
inductively. This means that they look at the subjective testimonies of individuals who claim to have
had religious experiences in order to find similar characteristics and then draw the general conclusion
that the experiences can only be explained in terms of the existence of God. For example Swinburne
argued inductively supporting
