Summary Of Once More To The Lake By White
In the article titled Once More To The Lake by White, my first impression when I reached the line
where the author s tone changed at the end of the essay that says, chill of death was disturbing.
Reason why is because, I m thinking the same thing author encountered with his own father a
generation before would repeat itself. The experience memory of his father and his own death
vibrates through his body, these made author said, chill of death. Reading through the essay was
entertaining as author constructed, and explained the story in the essay. I was enjoying the lake
story till it got to the conclusion. I wasn t expecting that coming from the author only explained how
he enjoyed going to the lake, and how he wanted his children to experience
Gender Stereotypes And Expectations In Literature
Everyone knows that boys only want one thing, and girls, above all else, must protect their virtue.
Society, through such means as literature, popular culture, and tradition, has perpetuated these
gender stereotypes and expectations for much of history. Unconscious and conscious assumptions
about gendershape how readers perceive sex in literature; men are typically considered lustful,
whereas women are considered loving. However, the subjects of sex, love, and lust in literature, as
demonstrated in poems written by Robert Burns and Andrew Marvell, become increasingly nuanced
when gender stereotypes and expectations are questioned and removed. Gender roles, expectations,
and stereotypes have shifted and become less clearly defined... Show more content on

He says that the youthful hue / sits on [her] skin like morning dew, but that this fresh beauty will
soon fade (Marvell 584; 33 34).
The description of this woman supports stereotypes of both genders. The man is lustful, and his
tactic is to appeal to the woman s shallow vanity. He appeals to her desire for love by almost
offhandedly tacking on how he would like to know her heart (Marvell 583; 18). Additionally, he
says that, should they act upon his lustful desires, they would be like amorous birds of prey
(Marvell 584; 38). The contradictory image of loving raptors enforces the stereotype of a predatory
man spouting any lovely lie to get a woman in his bed. A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns is not as
overtly sexual as To His Coy Mistress. However, Burns was notoriously promiscuous, and his subject
matter was often of a sexual nature. It is safe to say that his purpose in this poem was a sexual
purpose. He says his luve s like a red, red rose / that s newly sprung in June (Burns 935; 1 2). He also
describes his love as a beautiful song being sweetly played in tune (Burns 935; 1 2). He uses this
flowery language to appeal to women s stereotypical love for beauty and emotion. He additionally
appeals to an overemotional woman by using hyperbolic language to describe his love. He claims
that he will love this woman until all the seas dry up and the rocks melt wi the sun
The Corsets And Crinoline In Victorian Fashion
The corset is full of paradoxes (Johnstone, L. Corsets and Crinolines in Victorian Fashion. Available:
http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/articles/c/corsets and crinolines in victorian fashion/. Last accessed

greatly affected by social, economic and political factors, and that has had a resounding effect on
today s society as a result.
The corset expresses contradictory messages: constriction and freedom, dominance and submission,
femininity and power. And it refers to current social values: violence, war, sex, nostalgia and
conservatism (Johnstone, L. (N/A). Corsets and Crinolines in Victorian Fashion. Available: http:/

(Laudner, V, 2010, p, 28). In recent history however, from the twentieth century to the present day,
the corset has been revived repeatedly. Paul Poiret banished corsets in 1909 after centuries of
tyrannical reign over women s fashion . (N/A. (N/A). The Corset in Late 20th Century Fashion.

Artemis Corruption Theme
The purpose of my poster is to persuade children aged 12 and over to read Artemis Fowl by Eoin
Colfer. The poster displays and expresses the theme of evil that is evident in the graphic novel. I
have used many techniques to convey the theme of evil in the book.
Colour has been used in my poster to create a dark and wicked setting. The black and red in the
image of Artemis shows how he is capable of doing such evil. His body is outlined with a red
glow to enhance his power. I have also purposely made his face dark and unidentified to show his
mysterious and deceiving character. The grey tones in the background express the darkness and
mystery that is displayed in the graphic novel. The heading is outlined with red to make the theme

Antigone Summary
Thebes was invaded by Oedipus son, Polynices, and his followers. As Oedipus predicted in the
previous play, Polynices and his brother, Eteocles, killed each other during battle. Creon, the king of
Thebes, ruled that Eteocles should have a proper burial with honors and Polynices, the invader, be
left unburied to rot. Antigonewas dejected with Creons ruling and decided to bury Polynicesherself.
She tried to enlist Ismene to help her, but Ismene was to afraid. Antigone furiously continued with
the plan on her own. A sentry discovered Antigone and brought her to Creon. Ismene was also
brought to Creon and confessed that she had helped Antigone with the burial rites of Polynices.
Antigone stopped Ismene and told her not to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antigone had hanged herself in the tomb and Haemon was wailing at her side. Creon heard
Haemon s voice and begged him to come out of the tomb. Haemon came out and lunged at Creon
with his sword and missed. Haemon then took his own life by leaning on the blade of his sword,
Haemon then embraced Antigone as he died. Eurydice, Haemon s mother and Creon s wife, was
brought notice by a messenger that her son was dead. Eurydice retreated to the palace for the
sake of mourning in private. However, the death of Haemon was to much for Eurydice to bear
and she ended her own life right there in the palace. Creon grieved over the death of Heamon and
thought that there could be no worse. The messenger then informed Creon that the agony did not
end there, Eurydice had also killed herself. Creon cursed himself and anguished over the loss of
his wife and son. In conclusion, Creon begged and prayed for his own life to be taken so that he

The Security Agency Nsa ( Nsa )
In early June of 2013, all the main broad casting channels broke the story that the National Security
Agency (NSA) was spying on United States citizens, and that communication in the U.S. was not
private. Edward Snowden, formerly worked as a technical contractor for the NSA at the time, gave
the media the information for the story. At the time of the release of the story, Snowden was in
Hong Kong. This trip was a deliberately planned in order to keep himself from being immediately
incarcerated in the United States. The NSA s surveillance efforts were increased after the 9/11
attacks, and have allegedly kept growing since then (Gross, 2013). Whether the surveillance was in
unconstitutional guidelines is something that is up for discussion now that the leaks have uncovered
the degree of the surveillance that is, and has been, taking place. Other NSA Contractors state that
the Constitution has been violated, but spokespeople from the NSA state that they are not listening
in on conversations entered into by the average American, nor are they reading emails or other
correspondence (Gross, 2013). The argument in the media and society concerning the NSA security
leak is fixated on whether Edward Snowden is a hero or a traitor, but in order to make a judgement
on that, one has to comprehend what Snowden actually did and how it affects society and the
government.

The Physics of Archery Essay
The Physics of Archery

There are not many activities out there that relax and soothe me quite like shooting my bow. It is not
as simple as it sounds though, just pulling on the string, releasing the string, and watching the arrow
fly towards your target. There are a number of aspects that must be taken into consideration when
trying to shoot a bow and arrow efficiently, this is where we will get into the physics of archery.

There are two main things to consider when looking at archery and the physics concepts behind it.
First there is the bow, which basically is a device that uses human force over a distance and converts
that into stored Mechanical Potential Energy. The second factor involves that stored Mechanical
Energy being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The materials that construct the Recurve bow must be taken into consideration when looking at
the force applied from the bow. The most popular material for traditional archers today would
have to be a certain type of wood from the yew tree. The reason for this particular choice of wood
is that it contains the highest elastic energy storage per unit mass for any type of wood, which is
around 700 Jkg 1. Which is very close to having the same rating as spring steel. However with
technology these days more people are leaning towards a type of carbon fiberglass laminate. This
particular combination brings both a lighter weight than wood and a higher elasticity rating. The
reason some wood bows are still around is due to the fact the old timer traditional type archers shun
using any kind of technology or advancements to aid them in shooting their bows. The material of
the strings also needs to be taken into consideration, this is so because the string mass needs to be
kept as low as possible for obvious reasons with efficiency and speed of the bow.

Another thing to be looked at would be the Draw Weight or Draw Force of the bow, which basically
is how much weight or force is
