Whale Done By Ken Blanchard
In his novel Whale Done, Ken Blanchard illustrates the power that his Whale Done strategy can have
on a manager s relationships, not only with his employees but also with his family and friends.
Blanchard argues that his strategies, including redirection and accentuating the positive, can make a
major difference in work and family relationships. He believes that these strategies will increase
employee productivity and forge stronger relationships through positive interactions. In an easy to
read, informative style, Blanchard communicates how I can put his strategies in place in my life to
make more effective choices within my relationships.
One of the biggest issues with the GOTCHA response is the ripple effect it has throughout the ...

Blanchard illustrates this when Jim Barnes implicitly threatens Wes Kingsley s job because Wes is
being too soft. Jim assumes that since Wes, like every worker, lacks motivation and wants to do as
little as possible while still collecting a pay check, it is his responsibility to provide a direct reward
or punishment in order to ensure Wes s performance. This contrasts sharply with the style Wes learns
from Shamu and the Seaworld team, who believe that trust between whale and trainer (in Wes s case,
manager and employee) is most important. This falls in line with Theory Y management in its belief
that under proper, caring (WRONG WORD) management, workers can be self motivated and
flourish. Similar to how Dave Yardley believes Shamu inherently enjoys performing (when treated
well), Theory Y/Whale Done managers trust that their workers want to succeed and welcome
responsibility above the bare minimum. The managers believe that it is just as much in their
employees nature to work and complete tasks as it is to rest or play. Both Blanchard and
MacGregor illustrate that Theory Y/Whale Done management is clearly best not only for employee
morale, but also productivity. When a manager trusts his or her employees to excel and an
Why Did Britain Enter Ww1
Britain on the eve of its entry into the First World War. Two leading daily newspapers, The Times
and the Manchester Guardian both published news on the war crisis on 4 August 1914, and present
very contrasting positions on Britain s situation. The coverage in The Times encourages the
involvement of England in the war, placing emphasis on their obligation to remain the greatest
nation. Whereas the Manchester Guardian is primarily aimed at coaxing readers away from the
idea of war, discouraging those who believe that Britain should get involved. The papers report
much of the same news, but many of these stories are written to benefit the stance their paper takes
on the war. To begin, the focus of The Times, is Britain s preparation to enter the war, as well as the
obligation felt by many to join the war effort. As described in one of the articles it was as if war
fever had begun. Much of the coverage in the paper was dedicated to national war coverage. Most
of this is focused around the neutrality of Belgium and what German infiltration will mean for
France. Most articles place emphasis on the obligation to assist Belgium, that it is their duty to
protect its borders. In regards to the infiltration of the French lines, many believe that Britain must at
the very least offer assistance from the sea. In an editorial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well as The Times which moves to instill a sense of nationalism, aimed at creating a movement
towards entering the war. It can be seen how the bias presented in each other the papers changes
how to news it reports is portrayed. The Times and the Manchester Guardian each report much of the
same information, but their conflicting positions on the war alter how this information will be
received to the reader. Thus, making it increasingly more simple to understand why war opinions
varied so greatly within
Working Conditions During Late Nineteenth Century
Working Conditions in Late Nineteenth Century
From New Era to Great Depression, 1920 1932
The Great Depression is a global financial crisis that affected developed nations in 1930. Although
nations started experiencing its onsets towards the end of 1929, most developed countries felt its
impacts in 1930. However, when it ended different countries experienced signs of recovery in the
late 1930. Most importantly is the occurrence of Wall Street Crash that took place in 1929, where it
was seen as the interchangeable term that used for Great Depression. Apparently, this event
emanated from the US and is considered as one of the causes of the Depression. Although, the
occurrence of the depression took place after the collapse of the stock market exchange, the
depression did not arise because of the collapse of the exchange. Therefore, this paper seeks to
illustrate the causes of the Great Depression.
Overpopulation
Overpopulation is a critical issue that resulted in the Great Depression. Apparently, the challenge did
not affect industrial producing companies only, but also the Agricultural sector. In the early 1920s,
farmers in the US were producing much less food that could not sustain the entire population.
Because of the drop in the prices of land, the agricultural sector started to fail resulting in a decrease
in food production because of a fall in demand. For this reason,
unemployment rose in the US. On the other hand, industries were affected because they could not
Susan Bordo Never Just Pictures Summary
In the article Never Just Pictures, the author, Susan Bordo, addresses the cultural reasons behind the
rise in eating disorders. She asserts that modern media and advertising campaigns have played an
integral role in this increase. Though unfortunate, the media s focus is not on the well being of its
viewers, but on the level of cash flow they provide. The advertisingmoguls use their agencies as
double edged swords; they will make ads for McDonalds, then go in the next room and conduct a
photo shoot with a six foot two, eighty pound woman. The world of advertising needs to realize
their work is being seen by millions of people and is affecting some of those people in extremely
negative ways. The author of this article begins her analysis of the rise in eating disorders by
acknowledging America s obsession with being the ideal weight. From an extremely young age,
American children are being taught that women in movies and on the covers of magazines possess
the ideal figure. The author states Children are being taught...being fat is the worst thing one can
be (Bordo 1). This is disturbing to say the least. There many attributes worse than being
overweight: dishonest, cruel, and murderous to name a few. Bordo also uses an example in the first
paragraph of her essay that is appalling. Alicia Silverstone, the lead role in Clueless, was completely
bombarded with insults about her weight, though she had only gained a few pounds since her
starring role. The advertisers did
A Student Of Full Sail University
As a student of Full Sail University I am completing the course of Audio Production. Growing up
music was always an escape for me. My childhood was not perfect and sometimes the only thing I
felt that could help me escape reality was music. Knowing how to sing, rap, and produce music by
the age of 16 was my get away from the world. Developing the skill without a degree is one thing. I
am attending Full Sail University to further my knowledge in this area of work and to also better my
skills. Music is a major industry to work in. Not stopping there I also love to have my own brands

Halloween Night Informative Speech
Welcome, to Worlds Of Fun on Halloween night. Worlds Of Fun is an amusement theme park in
Kansas City. On Halloween they turn the tables from fun to horrifying. Their goal is to scare you
greatly into submission so that we can t continue but, we continue anyways because of the thrills
and the explosion of adrenaline it brings us. The amusement park in my eyes is one of the most
horrifying in the world. I was raised through horror events ever since I was about 6. Horror is my
theme, my passion. Horror is fascinating to me and helps me to understand true fear sometimes.
Worlds Of Fun on Halloween night is where all of our nightmares become reality. The smell in the
air smells like rotten molten death but, also food of course. They fog up the entire island as they
call their terrifying amusement park. When we travel to Worlds Of Fun, we can not run from the
roller coasters. When we ride a roller coaster we will understand the thrill that involves us not
seeing the ground. Most of the roller coasters just look like we re falling to our death and are
never going to stop. Then, right at the last moment we receive a huge rush of wind, force, and
adrenaline, then the ride is over. We try riding the Momba when we can t see the ground in the front
row, it s AWESOME. We will understand the true meaning of what a roller coaster... Show more

The initial theme park even on Halloween is kid friendly but the haunted house vary for the kids.
The of the first times I went to worlds of fun on Halloween was 7 years ago. There was a haunted
house there that I walked through and the entire house was filled with fog, strobe lights, and
people to scare me. I couldn t see 2 feet in front of your face. They had to come find me because I
couldn t find my way out. Imagine being trapped in a room at age 11 with no one else there and I
can not find anyone. I also can hearing screaming, evil laughing, and a chainsaw revving. It was
The Gunslinger Chapter Summary
The Gunslinger is a very unique novel to read. There are times of grief, anger, sorrow, action, etc.
throughout the story. The setting of the story is also very confusing. The story takes place in a sort
of post apocalyptic time where everything is sand and desert, but it is later revealed that there are
other worlds. This story follows the journey of the gunslinger as he travels through harsh
environments, trying to catch the man in black. The novel begins with the gunslinger moving
through the desert, hot on the man in black s tracks. He then comes across an old farm. The farm is
occupied by the farmer, Brown, and his bird, Zoltan. The gunslinger decides to stop there for the
night. During dinner time, Brown says that the man in black was recently... Show more content on

They ride through the tunnels in a mining cart. They are then attacked by some creatures known
as low mutants. As they battle, the mining cart gets destroyed. After the battle, the two come
across the exit of the tunnels, but Jake trips and falls. Jake was hanging from the tracks when the
man in black showed up. The man in black told the gunslinger that if he helped the Jake then he
would never catch him, but if he leaves Jake there, then he would catch him. The gunslinger
makes a hard choice, but decides to leave Jake there hanging. Jake soon released his grip and fell
to his death. The gunslinger finds the man in black in a place called Golgotha. The man in black
reads the gunslingers fate from tarot cards. A lot is discussed between the two. The man in black
says that he is only a pawn for the real enemy. The man in black tries to persuade the gunslinger to
stop his quest by showing him how insignificant he is. He doesn t believe that, but is then forced
into a deep sleep. When he wakes, ten years have passed. He looks over to see a skeleton next to
him. He assumes that it is the man in black. He then continues his journey to find the real
Samuel Augustus Maverick
We all know someone who is boisterous and bold, and acts strongly about everything. We usually
call them mavericks. We do this in honor of Samuel Augustus Maverick, who was born in 1803. He
did many things in his life, a few of which seem crazy to those of us living nowadays.
One of the things that he did was he got involved with the government, in both Texas and the United
States. He got jobs in the government, and in Texas s case, even helped form the country. His first
government involvement was when he tried (and failed) to get a job with the South Carolina
General Assembly, but he placed 9th out of 13 candidates and thus did not get the job. As well as the
American government, he was more prominently known to have been involved in
The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat And Other Clinical...
Oliver Sacks, the author of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales,
was a notable neurologist and author who just died in 2015. This book is a collection of some of
Oliver Sacks most memorable cases and the book is divided into cases dealing with losses,
excesses, transports, and the world of the simple. The book starts with two epigraphs for a very
specific purpose. Neurology and the study of the brain in general, has according to Oliver Sacks,
recently taken a too scientific approach. Sacks argues that one must understand the whole person, his
history, personality, and relationships, in order to accurately diagnose, treat, and understand them.

Oliver Sacks has found that this approach is the only way to come to a logical diagnosis in a patient
s case.
The book is very credible because Oliver Sacks, the author, is very highly regarded and respected
throughout the medical community. His experience in the field is extensive, and that kind of
expertise is shown throughout the book, as Sacks would re diagnose patients who were previously
diagnosed something wrong.
The point of view is unexpected. Oliver Sacks was not an outside observer to the world of mental
conditions, not because of his working with patients on a daily basis, but because he actually had a
condition. Oliver Sacks condition was a less serious version of the condition that the man who
mistook his wife for a hat had. Oliver Sacks had a mild form of visual agnosia, which means that one
can see, but has trouble interpreting what one is seeing. The man who mistook his wife for a hat
could see a glove as a continuous surface infolded on itself. It has five outpouchings. When Sacks
told him that it was a glove, he was very surprised, but could understand how. Oliver Sacks had
trouble distinguishing faces because of this agnosia of vision, which made him very shy.
The accuracy of the science in this book, as with any current book on the brain and mind, is bound
to be not complete as
