Is it safe for teens to sail?

Over the years there has been many unfortunate boating accidents; going offshore, attempting to sail
around the world, and even during lessons! This now makes us think, should teens be allowed to
boat?
Stance: In the four articles, Annapolis teen dies in fatal boating accident, Abby Sunderland, Teen
Sailor Found Alive After Crisis at Sea, Marine experts say missing Fla. teenagers should not have
been alone offshore , only one survived and did not have her boat capsized. This shows that teens
should not be allowed to sail. A lot of teens are great sailors, a few of those great sailors tried going
offshore, but it didn t end well. For example, two teen boys went offshore and were never found. It

Should I send a teenager who has no experience with crisis out into the largest wilderness in the
world, completely surrounded on all sides by something that will kill them if they get in it? Teens
should not sail because even though you can see the surface of the water, you don t know what lies
beneath. The water can be calm, but at the same time can be vicious.

The boaters passed the boating test, but the test doesn t put you in a real life crisis. Teenagers can
spend years on the water and still be emotionally and mentally unprepared to deal with emergency
situations. Even though they might be prepared physically, they might not be emotionally. For
example when you hit the water, you can barely move, because the water is cold and you re in shock.

When a person boats, it s hard not to get caught up in the scene. You can see the shore, it s
beautiful, you can get caught up in the color of the water and the dolphins and the birds, and you
feel so much a part of all of it. If you get caught up in the wonder, you forget this place can also kill
you. The story, Rogue Wave, is a good example of that. Two Florida teens were boating and it was
a beautiful day. Out of nowhere the wall of water took down their ship. That s what can happen if
you re at the wrong place at the wrong

Angelina Grimke Abolition
Because of her concern for white masters and resulting choices to abandon her famous slave
holding family to move to the North, to write an address to southern women, and to speak in front
of audiences of both men and women, Angelina Grimke adopted the abolitionist cause and often
challenged her role in society. Originally, Grimke was promoting abolition out of concern for whites
as she believed that slaverywas anti Christian; she was seen trying to discourage family from
having slaves out of concern for her salvation. However, that family would have been a difficult one
to persuade as they were the one of the most prominent slaveholding families in South Carolina;
there were rumors that each family member had their own slave who would help
Analysis Of Slavery In Narrative Of The Life Of A Slave...
Inhumanity of Slaveholders
Death is better than slavery. Slavery has affected both male and female, in many different ways.
Douglas and Jacobs were not very different male and female yes, but how they were treated were
quite similar. Slavery can also affect children and infants. Slavery has many different themes to
prove what slavery is all about. It seems obvious to everyone that slavery was so very awful it s
proven in these two stories, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave by
Frederick Douglass and Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs. Inhumanity of
slaveholders to slaves is one of the worst crimes committed.
In Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Douglass had a
Competition And Cooperation In Lord Of The Flies
When it comes to society, competition and cooperation are questioned on which approach allows for
the greatest amount of benefits. Many different interpretations have been given throughout the
structure of society. Through the relationships, arguments and given power these all can be
determined by the intentions of the individual. When it comes to the nature of competition and
cooperation it is important to remember a majority of conflicts contain a mixed motive of both
elements. They are both needed to reach a part of both individual and collective goals. When
comparing cooperative and competitive processes, cooperation leads to more constructive
resolutions to conflicts. Competitiveness has become a key part of the handling of situations.... Show

Throughout the Lord of the Flies the characters, symbols and setting all play into how savagery
overtook the impressionable young boys stranded on the island. To give this outlook a better
understanding, it is important to look at the parallels between civilization vs. savagery and
competition vs. cooperation. Ralph is the main character who represents civilized social order.
While Jack is the representation of how savagery is something that is naturally within all of us.
The competition between the two leaders caused for one to have hidden intentions. While Ralph
was determined to get the group of boys to work together and create a civilization that allowed for
greater group productivity, Jack had other things planned. This can be seen early on in the book
when Jack goes against his duties to show how his way of living and killing is more desirable.
His false commitments and competitive outlook caused for Ralph s beneficial lifestyle to be
viewed as inadequate. The decisions made on the island created for destructive outcomes and for
the innocence of adolescence to be lost. Nearing the closing of the novel, the narrator states Ralph
wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man s heart, and the fall through the air of a true,
wise friend called Piggy. (Golding) Golding s point for having the narrator say this was to connect

Ancient Egyptian Portraitures Essay
The popularity of and the fascination with Egyptian Art come from the pyramids, mummies, and
hieroglyphs. The theme of the exhibition is about racial types in Ancient Egyptian Art it will survey
the various naturalistic facial features found in the non royal sculptures. In contrast, the Royal
portraits are extremely symbolic in representing human figures with the combination of human gods
and animal forms that tend to portray idealized, conventional faces of Egypt. Utilizing objects from
the permanent collection at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, this exhibit will display 25 portraits of
nobleman, officials, and local individuals in order to hint at a variety of racial subdivision such as
the Hykos, Nubian, Persian and Roman influence in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Brooklyn Museum s permanent collection contains a large selection of Egyptian, Classical,
Ancient Near Eastern Art sculptures, or paintings in relief. Many statues are generally idealized and
incorporated into animal form, since the intention of Ancient Egyptians was often to illustrate as
much of a traditional king as possible. Realistic features had greater possibility in the non royal
portraits than in the one for royal purposes . The assumption that Ancient Egyptian royal portraits
were accurate is based loosely on the idea that the artist would demonstrate knowledge of the
tradition and consciously take models from the previous rulers to implement into their sculptures .
The differences in the depiction of royal and a non royal portraiture will be prominent by the
entrances into the galleries. It will incorporate examples of the Head of a King from the Old
Kingdom, Late Period and Ptolemaic Period, to demonstrate resemblances in facial feature that are
not highly individualized. In contrast, the selection of objects inside the gallery will suggest portraits
of non royal individuals, a diverse civilization that has been through invasions and marital
intermingling of the neighboring countries. The selection of objects for Al Misr includes sculptures
and reliefs. The various materials representing human figures in combination with the
What Representativeness Heuristic Is Inappropriately...
I remember and incident that the representativeness heuristic was inappropriately applied in
judging me. I was playing pickup basketball while visiting family away from my home state of
Kentucky at the time, and I was wearing a University of Kentucky tee shirt. As I walked up a team
was forming and one of the players looked at me and said, I ll take the guy from Kentucky,
presumably basing his decision on the popularity of the sport in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. As
play progressed, my lack of excellence in the game demonstrated clearly that fandom and stardom
work quite independently of one another.
I have made inappropriate judgments based on availability heuristic many times over the years. I
can recall one case in particular from my childhood during the early days of AIDS coming into
public view. Around the age of 10, I remember watching a particularly disturbing news report on
AIDS, and although the details of the report are lost to me now, at the time they were fighting. I had
a very limited understanding of the disease and how it was contracted, and coincidentally I woke up
the next morning not feeling well, convinced that I somehow had been infected with the dreaded
disease.

Given the discussion on adolescence in our text, the standards for adult activities do somewhat
coincide with what we know about human development (Cacioppo Fregberg, 2013 ). Limiting
access to many activities based on age is advisable considering the cognitive development of
adolescents
Difference Between American Dream And Declaration Of...
American Dream: the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to every
American. In the Declaration of Independence, the Founding Fathers announced that all Men are
created equal (Jefferson) yet in society there is a presence of inequality and injustice in the social
hierarchy. As the draftsman of the Declaration of Independence and one of the four Founding
Fathers of the United States, Jefferson dreamt of a land of equality and righteousness amongst the
citizen of America. Whereas Martin Luther King Jr. visioned a unity between two opposing races;
African Americans and the whites. The difference between these two past leaders were their time

Hillary Clinton, who is the first woman selected to become the presidential nominee of a major
political party. Hillary Clinton perspective to mainstream society is both of an insider and
outsider. Clinton has a high status in the terms of social class and political influence; however,
she faces limitations posed by her gender. The limitation is often due to the male dominance in
America s society, which can hinder the actions and words of a woman. She believes that the
American Dream is big enough for everyone to share in its promises and that if one is willing to
work do their part in society, they are able to attain a successful future. Hillary is often described
as a listener by her co workers for she travels to numerous states to listen to the issues of the
people and act upon it to resolve the situation. Hillary s vision of the American Dream coincides
with King s due to the similarity of purpose; both advocating for equality and justice for minorities.
As King advocated for African Americans, Hillary advocates for the entirety of the minority as well
as women s rights and equality in society. In contrast, the Republican nominee for the 2016
presidential elections has addressed an ideology of the American Dream that opposes the vision of
Jefferson, King, and Clinton. Trump states that the American Dream is dead. His American Dream

Norway s Economy And The European Trade Union
Although Norway s economy is integrated in the market of the European Union [EU], it is still one
of the countries not formally included in this organization. Previously known as the European
Economic Commission in 1972, Norway did not join the EU. In 1994, Norway once again rejected
membership to the European Unionbased on a referendum: 47.6% voted yes but 52.4% voted no to
membership of the EU. Instead, Norway signed the European Economic AreaAgreement (EEA).
This Agreement guarantees the internal market s four freedoms: the free movement of goods,
people, services and capital. Signing this agreement was a smart and calculated choice because
Norway has benefited from trade advantages while averting regulation enforced by the EU, and...

Norway also trades with many of its EU neighbors such as Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the United
Kingdom, and Greenland. Norway is the EU s fifth most important partner for trading goods such
as metal, seafood, oil, and the 32nd largest export economy in the world (Norway par 2).
According to the World Bank Report in 2015, this country is one of the ten countries friendliest to
business. Prosperous and developed, Norway has one of the world s lowest unemployment rates at
4.6% in 2015 (doing Business in Norway 3). Since the discovery of oil beneath the North Sea
located to its southwest, Norway has been the world s seventh largest oil exporter and gas exporter,
with petroleum as the country s largest industrialized sector. Abundant oil indicates that Norway will

The Philosophy of Teaching Essay
My Philosophy of Teaching

Philisophical teaching stratigies include the following disciplines, essentialism, existentialism, and
many others. Of these stratigies the philisophicla approaches each include a distinct direction in the
style and type of learning taking place. Lessons should include these philisophical teaching stratigies
within there designed properties. Although all of the stratigies may be able to incorporate all
learning disciplines and learning styles a lesson does not need to contain the entire array of
philisophical stratigies. Informitive lessons may take place without all stratigies invovled.

Although the idea of learning away from a text is part of the progressive strategy, it is also a part of

Perrinialsim uses strategies that critisize other forms and previous methods held by past teachers.
Textbooks often provide information that perrinialist view inconsiquential or soon to be obsolete.
This thought process allows for students to learn a basic fundamental of what should soon to be the
