Persuasive Essay On Post Secondary Education
In society today, a college education is often seen as a the next step in a young adult s life. Whether
they actually know what they would like to earn a degree in, they feel the need to continue their
education as almost everyone around them is pursuing post secondary education of some sort. It is
often argued that a college education is not necessary to get ahead because of the manufacture based
workforce that is up and coming in America, however, there are many benefits to having a post
secondary educationsuch as a higher rate of pay and more job opportunities.
One of the biggest overall benefits of having a college education to some degree after a high school
diploma is the most obvious: the considerably higher pay rate that is available for those careers
that often times require a degree. It s a common misconception that big amounts of money will
just come pouring in after they walk across the stage with their degree, however, the real benefits
start stacking up you begin to pay off student loans and the are now being employed in a career
within your degree specifications. A study done by Georgetown University proved that graduates
from college earn $1 million more in earnings over their lifetime as compared to those who only
had a high school diploma (Cornerstone). As well as that, another study done by the Pew Research
Center found that in 2012, there was a HUGE average yearly income gap between high school and
college graduates of around $17,500
Rhetorical Analysis Of Patrick Henry And The Massachusetts...
Oration is one of the most ancient art forms in the world and can be used to instigate wars, ally
countries, and fight for one s personal beliefs. Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death by Patrick Henry
and To the Massachusetts Convention by Jonathan Smith are two of the strongest orations of the
18th century. While they are in many ways similar, they are also vastly different. Although they both
begin with the exact same address of, Mr. President, they have many more differences, including
contexts, purposes, and rhetorical strategies. They are also given by two men who share virtually
nothing in common. Patrick Henry and Jonathan Smith both use rhetorical strategy to address the
president of their time, George Washington; however, the two speeches that develop from those
initial phrases convey completely different ideals and spur dissimilar outcomes.
As one explores the meaning of these two speeches which were both delivered during the time of the
American Revolution, many interpretations and conclusions can be drawn, but the commonly
accepted understandings of both speeches show connections and separations. As previously stated,
both of the speeches begin with the introductory phrase, Mr. President. Patrick Henry and Jonathan
Smith were addressing George Washington ( History.org: The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation s
Official History and Citizenship Website ), but he was not officially the president until 1778, when
Jonathan Smith gave his speech. Although their first

ENGR: 2110: Engineering Fundamentals 1: Statics Introduction
Engineers ought to maintain commendable design and implementation standards in the development
of any project. In fact, doing the contrary jeopardizes the welfare of the people utilizing the materials
created. As such, the knowledge on static concepts needs to be prioritized in the development and
implementation of engineering projects to minimize the possibilities of failure due to poor planning.
In 1978, the Hartford Civic Center coliseum collapse raised concerns on the need for proper error
identification in the engineering process. This tragedy occurred when the roof collapsed after a
heavy snowfall in the region. During the event, no casualties were experienced since no one was at
the stadium in the time of the catastrophe (Martin Delatte, 2001). Nonetheless, the lack of casualties
does not alleviate the errors made by the engineers in the design process. Additionally, the failure of
this structure sparks numerous controversies on the ethical responsibilities of engineers in the design
and maintenance of structures. For a fact, the collapse of the Hartford Civic Center has many ethical
implications and it was a design and management blunder by the engineers tasked with this
responsibility.
Description of failure
The collapse of this structure was mainly attributed to improper calculations and anticipation of the
possible errors in the design employed. According

Impact Of The Nigerian Presidential Amnesty Program
In this paper, I estimate the impact of the Nigerian Presidential Amnesty Program (Amnesty), a local
form of Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR), on crude oil production in Nigeria.
The President of Nigeria announced the program on June 25th, 2009 which aimed to put an end to
the insurgency crisis experienced in the Niger Deltaregion, particularly between 2006 2009 which
had led to an average loss of about 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day (cited in Asuni, 2009) and
which had major implications for the government s revenue. Militants were given the opportunity for
a state pardon by submitting their weapons in exchange for empowerment training and monthly
stipends of N65,000 per month. I used a difference in difference approach and the results indicate an
average increase of about 73% in crude oil production in the treated states.
The production and export data for this work was retrieved from the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) database, the regulating body for the Oil and Gas industry, beginning from
Q1, 2005, to Q4, 2013. I also collected crude oil prices from the British Petroleum website. Although
the Amnesty Program led to a significant increase in oil production, it does not necessarily suggest it
is the best policy that could have been adopted due to its challenges. Introduction The Niger Delta
region, the Nigeria crude oil base, had witnessed numerous protests at various times by its citizens
over resource wealth and control.
Moving Beyond A Standard Education Plan For Integrating...
Moving beyond a standard education plan for integrating research results into existing curricula, this
proposal emphasizes a proactive effort to offer next generation engineers an interdisciplinary training
experience by using the proposed research of low power intelligent sensors. This education plan is
targeting high schoolstudents and middle schoolteachers, as well as students from minority groups.
Some planned activities have been explored by the PI with very positive feedbacks and evaluations.
The background is based on the premise that future academic and industrial projects will require
engineers to adopt a system level perspective and work with interdisciplinary teams [129].
Accordingly, current engineering students are expected to have system design experiences, and the
ability to prototype demonstration systems, and also be able to communicate with engineers
working in other areas, as well as identify potential market demand based on available technologies
[130]. To date, this type of experience has not been offered sufficiently in classroom lectures and
laboratory sessions [131]. Presently, our pedagogical practices tend to focus on conveying technical
knowledge rather than giving students experience in system development [132]. The proposed
research is uniquely cross disciplinary in that it includes both fundamental circuit design and signal
processing techniques, and this cross disciplinary approach can be adopted in various ap plications.

Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company, known as Vietjet Air, belongs to a biggest private and LCC
low cost carrier in Vietnam. Over the years its operation it has quickly won passengers hearts to
become the most favourite airline in Vietnam and in the region (Routesonline, 2017).
Vietjet was also voted as Vietnam s Most Favourite Airline by The Vietnam s Economic Times and
the Best Asian Low Cost Carrier at the TTG Travel Awards 2015, and for 5 years of taking off and
serving the customers, Vietjet has been honoured with 32 domestic awards and 9 significant

The agency noted that the delays set off a number of quarrels between customers and low cost
carriers for failing to provide satisfactory explanations or solutions. At other times, the website
reported, the carriers didn t make staff available to answer questions.
The carriers were accused of being poor problem solvers, as they usually informed passengers of the
delays or cancellation at the last possible minute, and repeatedly changed flight times.
Many passengers complained to local media about a tendency for local airlines to only inform
passengers of cancellations a couple hours before the scheduled departure time or after they have
waited a couple hours at the airport.
When the carriers sent text messages to passengers about the delays, they did not apologize and
failed to provide an explanation or compensation for the inconvenience.
Worse still, many passengers at the airport were not provided with food while waiting for their
flights to be resumed.
Lack of proper punishments seems to be a problem in the country s aviation industry, which has seen
sharp increases in the rates of delays and cancellations recently.

Service failure and recovery play important roles in determining service quality and customer

people benefit. While there is no known formula for stimulating economic growth, data can help
policy makers better understand their countries economic situations and guide any work toward
improvement. Data here covers measures of economic growth, such as gross domestic product
(GDP) and gross national income (GNI). It also includes indicators representing factors known to be
relevant to economic growth, such as capital stock, employment, investment, savings, consumption,
government spending, imports, and exports.

Anthem Racism Essay
Are all of the different types of national anthem protest in the NFL equally effective at protesting
racial injustices in the US, or are they all just being disrespectful to the flag and the country? There
are many ways players and teams are protesting the National Anthem in the NFL today. The Seattle
Seahawks locked arms and stood, the Pittsburgh Steelersdidn t even come onto the field, and the
Arizona Cardinals were allowed to do whatever they felt was right. All of these teams claimed that
they were demonstrating unity and standing up for racial equality. The most effective way was
demonstrated by the Seahawks because they displayed their stance on racial injustices in the most
professional way. And while it is clear that these protests have made an uproar in the NFL
community, it is not clear on how effective all the different types of protests are.
This is not the first time professional athletes have protested racial injustices in front of the entire
nation to see. During the 1968 Olympics runners Tommie Smith and John Carlos held a fist in the
air while wearing beads and cloth for shoes to protest the lynching and poverty of African
Americans. And in 1996, Mahmoud Abdul Rauf, a point guard in the NBA, was suspended a game
for sitting during the National Anthem. His reason for sitting was that it was against his religion.
He was scrutinized for this and after his contract was up he never played in the NBA again, and this
was during the prime of his career. During the
Essay on Grading System Reform
Grading System Reform
Teachers have always used grades to measure the amount a student has learned. This practice is
becoming ineffective. Many students have a wide range of grades, which show that grades may not
show what a student really knows. Therefore, the standard grading system should be replaced. Some
reasons why grades should be replaced are bad grades can hinder a child s performance, grades
define who a student is in the classroom, and grades are not an effective way to see if students have
learned the material. The current grading system should be upgraded and every school should
incorporate the plus/minus system in their method of grading.
The public high schools began a grading system as a way of telling an ... Show more content on

A student can be excluded from their peer groups because they have a bad grade. Being left out
can make a student not want to improve academically. If they get bad grades others will see them
as a poor student and will expect them to do poor in life. The process most schools use to evaluate
student performance is grade point average and class rank. The academic recognition programs that
exist in the United States are driven by a student s grade point average and class rank. Those
measures serve as the primary method in establishing student recognition. If this ranking is not the
sole factor in the recognition program, it is always included in the student s assessment. The school
culture recognizes individuals that are in the top one third of the school s class rank
The national dropout rate has been about 15 percent. In 2002, 11 percent of young people aged 16
to 24 in the civilian, non institutionalized population were not enrolled in and had not completed
high school. While the exact magnitude of the problem may be elusive, the fact that it s particularly
severe in large urban schools has been understood for some time.
One study looked at high schools in the nation s 35 largest cities and identified 200 to 300 schools
about half of the regular and vocational high schools in those cities where more than 50 percent of
the students drop out. A study of Philadelphia schools found that 57 percent of those who

Psychology DESCARTES INFLUENCE ON PSYCHOLOGY René Descartes was a famous French
mathematician, scientist, and philosopher throughout the mid 1600 s. He is often regarded as the
father of modern philosophy; however, his highly influential ideas have also impacted many other
scientific fields, including the world of psychology. Descartes contributions in philosophy and
biology have had a significant influence on modern psychology. He introduced new theories about
the mind and the body that, while not always correct, undoubtedly changed peoples views and
sparked a whole new approach to looking at the mind. There is one thing Descartes knew for certain,

It can also be argued that these contributions paved the path for modern behavioral psychology
and more specifically the concept of stimulus response. This type of psychology focuses on how
people behave. Modern behavioral psychologists test this idea that the brain in responsible for
behavior and thinking by manipulating situations and studying reactions. Descartes had a very
mechanistic view of the brain. He believed the body works similar to machines as it is material
and follows laws of physics. He suggests that mind and body interact at the pineal gland. He
predicted that there are tube like structures inside our bodies that tighten under DESCARTES

predictions were essentially incorrect, his research influenced other to explore the way in which
in the mind works. Descartes did a lot of his studies about biology by using animals, just as many
researchers in psychology do today. He opened up the possibility of using animals as subjects in
comparison to humans by looking at both their anatomy and behavior. Descartes research sparked
of a lot of attention. There were people in opposition to Descartes and others who took his ideas
further to discover the truth. Much of his work has since been discredited; however, it is because of
him that so many
