Case Study Of Procedural Sedation
ABSTRACT
We report two cases where combination of dexmedetomidine and ketamine as procedural sedation
was used in patients undergoing maxillofacial surgery. We were able to achieve a calm, sedated and
cooperative patient with preserved airway reflexes and respiratory drive and minimal haemodynamic
wavering in both cases. Procedural sedation using dexmedetomidine and ketamine infusion was
successfully used as an alternative technique for providing anaesthesia that confers analgesia, while
preserving patients airway reflexes and respiratory drive.
Introduction
Airway management in patients with maxillofacial fractures has always been vexatious to the
anaesthesiologist. Despite varied choice of intubation, no consensus exists to date as to the best way
of controlling difficult airway when nasotracheal or orotracheal intubations are contraindicated, thus,
leaving surgical airway as the procedure of choice which is associated with significant risk of
iatrogenic complications. Anecdotal experience in small retrospective case series and case reports
have consistently demonstrated utility of dexmedetomidine in conjunction with ketamine for
procedures in which deep level of sedation is required while simultaneously ... Show more content on

CT findings revealed associated nasal and basilar skull fracture. On examination mouth opening was
limited with normal thyromental distance and neck movements. Nasal intubation was eluded in
view of CT findings and oral intubation was not feasible. Dexmedetomidine and ketamine infusion
was initiated following anti aspiration prophylaxis and premedication. Ramsay sedation score of 3
and 4 was upheld throughout the procedure. Pharyngeal and laryngeal reflexes were preserved
without respiratory depression. Intraoperative vitals were sustained within 15% of baseline value.
Intraoperative and postoperative period remained
Domestic Violence Against Men and Women
Domestic Violence against Men and Women

Whenever the thought of domestic violence comes to mind, more than often the visual picture is a
women or a child. However, there is another side that has been ignored because it is pushed under
the rug. The unfortunate fact is that men are the victims of domestic violence at least as often as
women are. While the very idea of men is being beaten by their wives or partners runs contrary to
many of our deeply ingrained beliefs about men and women, female or male violence against men is
a well documented phenomenon almost completely ignored by both the media and society (Watson
2013). The majority of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Guilt most often what keeps the victim, at the hands of their abuser, that internal turmoil that the
victim goes through with leaving the since of feeling responsible, the feeling of leaving the
relationship and the household, this alone is the underlying reasons behind not leaving, not wanting
to separate the household. Self blame can not be avoided for some of those who believe that they
just have not done enough, the only thing that will help is time, distance and healing and too not get
into another relationship until they are completely ready. It is estimated that about 3.2 million men
are victims of assault by their partner each year in the United States.
However, most of these assaults are relatively minor, such as hitting, smacking, pushing, and
shoving, others are much more serious. . It has raised serious questions about implementation of
arrest policies, equivalency of intimate partner aggression across genders, and management of
female domestic violence offenders. This study compares demographic characteristics, criminal
history variables, and the past domestic violence history of men and women arrested for domestic
assault against a heterosexual intimate partner. Using victim reported information and data collected
by local criminal justice agencies, we
Breastfeeding Research
The first six months of an infant s life is so important in many ways such as development,
attachment, and most importantly nutritional needs. Rapid growth is occurring during these months
and proper nutrition is crucial in order to support the growth and neurological development changes
(Marotz, 2012). If an infantis not properly nourished they will be under the average rate for weight
and height, have slower growth rate, have fewer brain cells and less intellectual capabilities. During
the first 5 6 months, infants are fed solely breast milkor formula, which both are made up of rich fat
substances and meet the needed calorie intake of 650 calories per quart (Marotz, 2012). During the
early months after birth, the infant should consume... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As breastfeeding can be a difficult transition, doctors and nurses are there to assist to the
breastfeeding process for mothers and their infant (AAP, 2005). Breastfeeding is especially
critical to a premature infant s health, as they are below birth weight as it is the human milk
gives them all their nutrients they need to develop appropriately compared to infants that are fed
formula (AAP, 2005). There s reason as to why women produce milk to feed it to their same
species , therefore any other form of milk i.e. formula, will be very different even though it may be
advertised as just the same as breast milk . With that being said, mothers milk is the highest quality
for infant feeding which has led to more positive outcomes for development (AAP,

John Williams Concerto For The Boston Symphony And Pops
In 1985 the famous movie composer John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the
Lost Ark, 1941) wrote a tuba concerto for Chester Schmitz, longtime tubist of the Boston
Symphony and Pops Orchestras. The gravity of this addition to the repertoire cannot be overstated,
as this piece has become a close second in popularity to the Ralph Vaughan
Williams concerto and has likely affected many a composer who has attempted to write a concerto
for the tuba since. The piece is filled with identifiable themes, tonal harmonies, lengthy melodic lines,
and idiomatic writing making this piece highly enjoyable for both audience and performer.
The first movement opens with a powerfully optimistic melody stated by the tuba over a recurring
string (in this case piano)

Cheap grace will destroy the church. We are called to be disciple and it is necessary to include Jesus

to suffer as Christ suffered if we pick up the cross to follow Jesus.
The book also focuses on Jesus Sermon on the Mount. Jesus discusses those that are blessed and

Patient Satisfaction Is An Important Element Of The...
Abstract
Patient satisfaction is considered an important element of the quality of healthcare, a leading
indicator of patient outcomes and a top priority for hospitals and providers. There is an increased
need to improve quality in the delivery of healthcare services, partly due to the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services pay for performance reimbursement methods. Adjustments
increasing to 2% in 2017 will affect more than 3000 acute nursing facilities nationwide. The Centers
for Medicare and Medicaid Services uses the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare
Providers and Systems survey that measures ten specific aspects of a patient s care, and results are
reported publicly. There has been a great deal of discussion for and against the survey on all levels
of healthcare. Research indicates that a customer service approach is the leading indicator of patient
satisfaction. A better customer service approach is the product of satisfied employees. Nurses play a
significant role in the customer service approach, including advanced practice nurses.
Improving Patient Satisfaction
[Patient Satisfaction]. Patient satisfaction is a patient s level of contentment with the comfort,
quality and perception of overall well being in regards to the healthcare they obtain. Patient
satisfaction is subjective and often multifaceted making it very difficult to define (Morris, Jahangir,
Sethi, 2013). A patient s anticipated expectations compared to his or her

Runyon Canyon
This unique park is often described as an urban wilderness because its 130 acres of trails are nestled
just two blocks from Hollywood Boulevard. Entrances to the park can be found on Fuller Avenue,
Vista Street, and Mullholland Drive. There are a number of trails of varying difficulty, many of
which lead to breathtaking views of the city and surrounding area. A wide road can be found at the
Vista Street entrance for those looking for an easier stroll. Hikers can choose to enter the canyon
from the south then climb upwards either clockwise or counter clockwise for varying levels of
strenuousness. Both will allow you to take in Inspiration Point and Clouds Rest. Entering the
canyon from the north will give you the option of several short hikes, one of which includes Indian

your essay writing skills as well as your knowledge of the relevant substantive law, please compare
your essay to the model answer provided below using the following approach:
(1) Score: Find the score the essay received in the grading rubric (below), and note the description
of why an essay would receive that score. The score tells you in general terms how the way the
essay was written correlates to the expectations for the assignment (note that when taken by

particular level of detail should not have been addressed), please feel free to e mail me.
Result/Outcome: Does the essay reach the same result or outcome at each point as the model
answer? If not, determine why not. If the differing result is mentioned in the notes on the model
answer as one that could also be supported by the facts, that s fine. If it isn t, and you aren t certain
why the essay s result on a specific point in the analysis is not supportable under the law and the
facts presented, please feel free to e mail me.
(d) Conclusion: Make certain that your conclusion is well supported by your analysis. If your
analysis does not support your conclusion, identify where the two differ or where the analysis is
silent. This focus will show you where and why the essay needed a deeper and more detailed
analysis, or why the conclusion was erroneous, or possibly both. If your conclusion for an issue is
not well supported by your analysis for that issue, and you are uncertain how to resolve this
discrepancy, please feel free to email me.

Racism in the T.V. Show Lost Essay
WRIT1301
Final Paper Assignment
ROUGH DRAFT
In television, and almost every other medium the media uses today, there s a fine line between
promoting and properly integrating diversity, and exploiting it. In this paper, I will be critically
analyzing the hit television show, Lost, and how in leans more towards exploitation because of its
incorporation of token characters from different races and genders, which hurts more than helps our
society, particularly American society, in its goal of expelling racism and sexism. The racial and
gender stereotypes displayed in the hit television ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main characters fluctuate slightly with each season, but there are a core four that
consistently lead the show. Jack Shephard, John Loch, Kate Austen, and Sawyer. Jack Shephard,
a spinal surgeon form L.A., emerges as the main character and accordingly the leader of the group
of newly stranded individuals. Jack is a white male, in his thirties, and if originally depicted as
your average white male surgeon. Most of all he has good nerves and goes well in the near
constant chaos on the island. John Loch is a middle aged white man who was handicapped
before he came on the island, but upon crash landing on the island, regained movement in his
legs. Loch slowly gains the trust of the group (not indefinitely) and is looked upon as the wise
one of the group, almost like the island s Yoda. Kate Austin is a white woman in her late
twenties, early thirties. We slowly figure out is a recently caught fugitive on the run for killing
her step father, emerges as another lead character because of her draw to dangerous situation,
which goes the same for Sawyer, another criminal on the island. Not until about the second season
does Sayid, an Iraqi man, emerge as another main character, which becomes the only non white
lead role in the show. One of the reasons Lost should be put under more of a microscope than most
American shows is because it is set outside of the United States, therefore a more diverse cast is
called for. In
Charles Darwin s On The Origin Of Species
Darwin also proposed a group of organisms share common descent if they have a common ancestor.
There is strong quantitative support for the theory that all living organisms on Earth are descended
from a common ancestor.Charles Darwin proposed the theory of universal common descent through
an evolutionary process in On the Origin of Species, twice stating the hypothesis that there was
only one ancestor for all life forms and ending with There is a grandeur in this view of life, with
its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one . The theory asserts
that all currently living organisms on Earth share a common genetic heritage with each being the
descendant from a single original species. His work shows many
