Narrative Essay About Paintball
One day many years ago I went paintballing, this was no ordinary paintball session as it was the
first time I had went in North Carolina and the first time I got to use a bunch of new gear that I
had gotten that Christmas. At first it seemed like a pretty normal day I woke up, ate, got dressed
for paintball which requires about 2 shirts and pants at least this is my setup, then once we got
everything in the car me and my cousin got in the back and were fairly excited as it was his first
time and my first time in North Carolina, now keep in mind that we were about 10 at the time so
this was a good 5 years ago, after the uneventful trip there we finally pulled up into the place s
parking lot which was made of gravel and it was really uneven, after we preceded to get all of out
stuff out of the car and find ourselves a spot to set up we went to go get out day passes, all this
seemed pretty normal and easy, after getting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually I got escorted back to my group at the entrance and they all were worried and asked what
happened and after I explained the whole story I sat out for about 30 minutes. The rest of the day I
can t really remember but I do know that I went back out there and had a lot of fun and learned a
few good lesson. So basically what you can take from this lesson is to not play paintball unless
your expected to get hit and possibly even hurt, but also on a more serious note I learned that when
you are with family and friends and something happens to you don t let that ruin the experience that
other may have unless you are seriously worried about your condition. So yeah that will make you
think twice about going paintball on a hot summer day with two layers of black shirts and no neck
protection, good job
Use Of Figurative Language In Barbara Kingsolver s The...
Taylor, a character in The Bean Trees from rural Kentucky that was born in raised in the South is
an individual Barbara Kingsolver can relate to, but this connection between the author and the
character is not all that makes this book unique. Kingsolver Kingsolver also presents a variety of
figurative language, such as symbolism, similes, and metaphors, which depict her Southern
Dialect she was familiar with to express realism. The gender roles Kingsolver portrays is also
unique; Kingsolver represents how women are very courageous and brave while being able to
survive on their own, unlike The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien and In Cold Blood by
Truman Capote where males serve as the dominant characters. What makes Kingsolver s texts her...

Kingsolver states, I m just a plain hillbilly from East Jesus Nowhere with this adopted child that
that everybody keeps on telling me is dumb as a box of rocks (Kingsolver, 45). Kingsolver
includes a simile with the child being compared to a box of rocks and this represents how Taylor
and Lou Ann were able to understand each other due to the Southern dialect they both shared.
Another instance where Kingsolver uses this Southern dialect is when Lou Ann commands her
mother and grandmother to not sit on the bench because it ll be as a poker in this sun (36). A
simile is spoken with the bench being compared to a poker in the sun; this is another daily
occurrence in which the characters use this Southern dialect. Also, as Estevan and Taylor have a
conversation, Estevan says her speech is poetic while Taylor refers to it as the biggest bunch of
hogwash (69). Symbolism is also introduced in her work; Kingsolver introduces the wisteria vines
that can grow in non fertile soil due to rhizobia which symbolizes the ability for Turtle to thrive
with Taylor acting as the rhizobia for due to her help in raising her. This unique dialect that
Kingsolver puts on display in her book through figurative language to display the simple and
ordinary life each of her characters possessed by relating it back to her own native Kentucky
Sonoran Desert Research Paper
The cultural group that I am researching is the Yaqui (Sonoran Desert, U.S. and Mexico). The
topic I have chosen to research is the different rituals the Yaqui perform. The reason I chose to
research the Yaqui is because they re indigenous to the same region as I am. The Yaqui, people of
Sonora [Mexico] settled along the Yaqui river... many Yaqui emigrated to Arizona to escape
subjugation ( Yaqui. Columbia 2016). Growing up I never realized how much history took place in
Southern Arizona, so it s interesting to be able to learn about the people who made Arizona the state
it is today. It s very important for me to learn about the Yaqui, since the Pascua Yaqui tribe is based
right here in Tucson, Arizona. Knowing the history of your state, country, culture, etc. is important
so that you understand the present times and how the future could be formed. As for choosing to
research the rituals of the Yaqui, I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn about the
different rituals that take place in their everyday lives and how these ceremonies differ from events
that take place in my own life.
The Yaqui have evolved themselves into having a blended religion, with the use of syncretism.
Syncretism is, the mixing/blending of elements from two or more cultural sources to produce a new
third culture or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Matachin dancers perform during Yaqui Easter ceremonies or any other festivities. The Matachin,
represents the forces of good (Yaqui Easter Ceremony 2009). The dancers wear bright colored
clothing and have headdresses decorated with red desert flowers. These desert flowers have great
symbol to the Yaqui, and symbolize the Virgin Mary (Yaqui Easter Ceremony 2009). Both the
Matachin dancers and roses combined represent the spirit of the Virgin Mary, whom looks favorable
on the Yaqui people (Yaqui Easter Ceremony 2009). Having these dancers brings about the good,
and forces out evil within the Yaquis
The Is A Non Profit Organization
The EDF is a non profit organization whose goal is to protect the environment. The organization
have many projects that help them to raise fund for such goal. Their main stakeholders are the
people who support them and push politicians to pass environmentalist laws. One of their main
programs is called the Climate Corps ; this programs creates a small network that only allows
people who are strictly selected by the EDF. Moreover, the plans that their interns create for
company affect some stakeholders inside the company they work for. Consequently, many other
stakeholders are negatively affected by this. In order to avoid more negative effects instead of
positive, the EDF should extend the Climate Corps program and modify some of the basis in
which the program creates their plans, so direct and indirect problems can also be solve. To begin
with, one of the most affected stakeholders in this network are the students that are not allowed to
participate in the Climate Corps; therefore, the student s selection have to be wider in order to
avoid undergraduates of doing unethical decisions. The EDF has to keep their reputation of
perfection in order to attract companies. One of their ways to do it is by showing that their interns
are the best in the country. First, the EDF only accepts students who are in top colleges of the
country. Secondly, they have to be the top of their generation. These two main requirements are used
as advertisement in the Climate Corps page. Moreover,
The Issue Of Child Labor Laws
The United States of America has always been deeply ideologically split on the idea of child labor.
On the one side, many people believe that children benefit from long hard hours at work because it
prepares them for the real world unlike the ability of school. Along with the growth of the child, they
also believe that it would create large economical growth throughout the nation. Among the many
people that believe this are two of hour founding fathers, Benjamin Franklinand Abraham Lincoln.
On the other side of the argument, many people feel that children are to innocent to work for
these long hours. They also tend to express how school and learning is much more vital to the
child than manual labor, for it will help them much more in the long run. For example, in U.S.
Supreme Court Case, Prince v. Massachusetts, the court defended child labor laws based on these
exact reasons. The question as to which of these opinions is more valid is still commonly
contemplated to this very day. In my opinion, the child should not be forced to work if they would
rather spend their time studying, however a child that wants to work should not be lawfully unable
to do so. As Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln have individually expressed, there are many
people that believe that children should be incorporated into the workforce. In his Report on
Manufactures in 1795, Alexander Hamiltonexpresses how he believes that children should be
continued to be sent to colonial America,

Peru is located in South America and is about the size of Alaska. It has an area of 496,226 square
miles and was first believed to be inhabited by migrants from Asia in 6000 BC. These inhabitants
relied on hunting and the collection of plants and fruits to stay alive. Small communities were
established by 5000 BC, and the farming of cotton, chili peppers, squash, maize (almost identical to
corn), and beans initiated. The early settlers populated mostly near the coast which allowed them to
utilize the wet climate to plant seeds. Peruwas also one of the first places where potatoes were
