The Controversial Issue Of The Homeless
The controversial issue of the homeless in New York has been an ongoing battle for several
years. Many leaders like Andrew Cuomo have come to the conclusion that obligating homeless
people into shelters should be enforced, yet others oppose the idea. They believe such harsh
actions shouldn t be taken. Journalist like Hinckley, who wrote Can New York Force Homeless
People into Shelters? and Marc Santo, who wrote Keep New York s homeless off the streets! have
written articles with fact based information with details on the homeless living conditions. In my
opinion, such actions shouldn t occur. The homeless in New York have the right to choose their
living conditions, therefore they shouldn t be obligated to be put in shelters. New York leaders
demand that homeless people must be forced into shelter, but the truth is that money needs to be
spent. The mayor, De Blasio, agrees that money shouldn t be spent. De Blasio unveiled a housing
plan that consists of $2.6 billion dollars. Shelters are sometimes worse than the streets themselves.
Several homeless who have entered shelters justify this statement. That statement validates why the
housing plan is a much safer option. On the other hand, the governor defends the idea of pressuring
homeless into shelters. According to Cuomo, If I get sued for keeping people safe and people in
from the cold because they were endangering themselves, so be it. (Hinckley 29 30). This is meant
to show his compassion and sympathy.
Climate Change And Its Effect On The Environment Essay
Tying this back to climate change, it the levels of these salt marshes are affected by the rise in
seawater. However, if the cordgrass and marsh hay experience more or less stress from higher or
lower tides than they are used to, the soils within each area will be disturbed. The higher the sea
level rises, the more tides increase in number as well as speed. If the tides speed up and become
more frequent, it is possible that this could dislodge newly planted seeds and disturb the
populations increasing rate. When flooding is heightened, the low marsh areas containing the
cordgrass will be completely submerged for longer periods of time. This will keep them
underwater longer and sheltered from light for an excessive amount of time. If the saltmarsh is
neglected from light and reproduction, the intertidal vegetation will decrease and be negatively
affected. With an increase of temperature we can expect to see a change in the species distribution
in specific areas. Plants will need to adapt to the change in water elevation and/or water
temperature. If the plants cannot adapt they will need to move locations. The only way for these
plants to move locations would be to be physically transported by predators such as birds. With the
ingestion and digestion of these plants, the birds would be able to ingest them at their current sit
and fly to a new location. Once they have arrived at a new location, when they have completely
digested the plant, the plants will be excreted into a
Jehovah s Witness Research Paper
Knock, knock. Who s there? It s a Jehovah s Witness! Have you ever had a Jehovah s Witness
knock on your door? Jesus told His people to go and make disciples of people of all the nations in
Matthew, and since they didn t have phones or social media to spread the Word of God, the only
way to do it was to go from house to house. Jehovah s Witnesses believe that door to door ministry
is the best way to reach people. The members of this religion would sit outside for hours upon hours
just to convert a couple people to being a Jehovah s Witness. ...We made return visits to
householders who had formerly shown interest in our message, even the least bit... says a Jehovah s
Witness Pioneer. While having some similar beliefs as Christianity, Jehovah s Witnesses have several
differences, too.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Charles Taze Russell, the leader of the group (not the founder of the religion), helped publish books
such as, The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah s Kingdom. The religion spread rapidly. According
to the book, Cults and New Religions, the population of Jehovah s Witnesses doubled in North
America, and multiplied by fifteen in South America. In 1999, there were about 5 6 million
members plus more people who were interested in the religion. In Michigan, only about 1% of the
population is a Jehovah s Witness. Just as Christians believe that God is the Almighty God, Jehovah
s Witnesses believe that God is the Almighty God and His name is Jehovah; hence, Jehovah s
Witness . In Psalms 2, we read, I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord: He said to me, You are my
Son, today I have begotten you which is referring to Jesus being the Son of God. Jehovah s
Witnesses believe that Jesus is the Son of God, but they have no biblical references to prove it in
their version of the

The equipment is also out of the price range for most college students. Students would be looking at
spending around $3788 for the kind of lab equipment used at DeVry. By creating an inexpensive and
portable oscilloscope, function generator, and power supply that fits in one box about the size of a
brief case we ve addressed the primary issues associated with this equipment. This project has
many applications and many future expansions and functions that can be added on. By having a
variable floating DC power supply, 7Hz 6 KHz function generator, and oscilloscope with leads
connecting to any circuit built, the comprehensive hands on learning tool would be ideal for most
DeVry students. Project Operation: There are three main parts to this project: the power supply,
function generator, and oscilloscope. There are a few hardware and software requirements for these
components. The power supply will require two wall wart power supplies connected to two
potentiometers to control the variable voltage and display it on the LCD. Then it will connect to the
student s circuits. The function generator can be completed in two ways. One method is to assemble
it through hardware. This would have little involvement with the 68HC12, but would allow a more
hands on approach. The other technique is to generate it through software. This would allow it to be
more portable, but creates more use of the computer instead of circuits. The function
Spam Professional Moourners, By Alagu Subramaniam
Professional mourners written by Alagu Subramaniam talks about the customs and practices
done by the Tamil community in Sri Lanka. The short story begins with the death of speaker s
grandmother late night on Saturday. According to the story a big crowd of relatives and villagers
gathered in front of the house. Narrator s uncle takes care of the whole ceremony. It seems that
he is a domineering character without pity and a caricature of his caste and class as he pays more
emphasis on the professional mourners. The writer creates a class and caste systems in the society.
It is a feudal society where powerful people get the maximum use of low class poor people. Most of
the time low class associates with poverty, illiteracy and servility. The... Show more content on

ABOUT THE TITLE OF THE STORY The title justifies as it conveys that a meaningless tradition
is connected with the funeral of the community concerned. The writer has captured the title to the
core of the subject he deals with. As his subject is Professional Mourners it is understood that the
particular group of people employers so are supposed to play an important role. Although it is
prose narration, Subramaniam dramatises the histrionic behaviour of the professional mourners.
CONCLUSION Professional Mourners are equal to status, power and position . As it says in the
story they are professional mourners. Yet it is not mention the fact that they do it for hire. The
task they do has become a social ritual in their caste ridden society. They mourn without a grief. It
is ludicrous, absurd and ridiculous and it brings the story into a satirical level. And at the same
time they are unable to be present at their mother s funeral and it becomes more pathetic. Due to
caste norms they have lost their rights for private grief/ genuine grief. The mourners were thus
obliged by their society to perform an act to which they were assigned irrespective of what their

A Report on Accounts Receivable on Marysville General...
As the Chief Financial Officer of Marysville General Hospital, I have informed the hospital board
members, that the accounts receivable has quickly approached the 100th day mark. The accounts
receivable had crept from the 70 80 day range within the past few months, which is greater than the
average of 55 days. There are many factors that could be a potential reason as to why the hospital
accounts receivabledays are rising, however, collectively the board members will create a plan of
action that will bring the accounts receivable days back in line. It will take cooperation from
everyone including the board members, medical staff, clinical departments, health information
management, business office, and many others. Therefore, each of these departments will be
involved in devising a solution to reduce the accounts receivable crisis.
Before the proposal for a development plan for reducing accounts receivable, the following
departments are requested to submit a current report showing the status of their departments. The
departments are: admissions; registrations; chart documentation; charge capture; claims processing;
payment posting; secondary billing and patient follow up. All of these reports will provide further
insight as to how each of the departments has performed, and contributed to the increase of accounts
receivable. Additionally, in reviewing these documents, the hospital will analyze the collection data
from the finance department, comparing the past,
Harrison Bergeron
With imperfect eyes, total equality is hard to accomplish, especially with the notion of judgment and
competition constantly tempting otherwise. However, the high hope of peace and utopia in
fulfillment has always been a human thrive. Throughout history many men have attempted such
perfection. Karl Marx inquired the structure of communism through the Manifesto to ensure equality
to a large socially grouped people. According to Vonnegut, so did the U.S. government, in the year
2081. In the outrageous short story of Harrison Bergeron, many historic achievements and ideas, like
the Manifesto, can closely parallel with that of the future outlook described by Vonnegut. Vonnegut

People are not forced to exercise so they could be equal with the stronger; rather the strong must
equal themselves by adding weights to make them weaker. This produces a sickly and depressing
view of society. The people themselves become lesser. After time, the dictatorship of downward
living becomes almost a way of live. George has been carrying this burden of forty seven pounds
for so long now around his neck that he says it does not bother him anymore. It has become apart of
him. When one has become desensitized from the situation, there is no hope for an uprising or
change.

This is why the person who is in their mid thirties living with their parents all their life are most
likely not going to move out anytime soon on their own will. After a longer period of time, it almost
becomes comfortable and natural. To move on would actually be harder to accomplish.

This imagery shows the complete control on all aspects of life by the dictator. Any type of free
thought is immediately forgotten after sounds of automobiles crashing and shotguns going off. In
reality, this can be controlled by altering all aspects of the media, as a man takes over and
impresses his will on the given society, what he wishes to be let out to the public can be publicized;
what he does not want to be exposed, however, will not be publicized. (Compaine) The government
in the story, with the playing by the orchestra in an ill manner, does the same thing. The true beauty
of music is hidden, and

The Benefits of World War One on Australia Essay
It is well recognised that World War 1 was a traumatic experience for the Australian nation. It
claimed 60,000 young lives and another 156,000 men were wounded, gassed, or taken prisoner. But
when the trauma abated, it became apparent that Australian society had been changed permanently
and positively. Some of the gains realised by Australiaas a result of her involvement in WWI
included a newfound maturity as a nation, the respect and recognition of other nations, new
opportunities for trade and industry, a greater recognition of women s rights and a massive
economic and population boost due to post war immigration programs. This web site has been
created to show you some of the benefits of World War One on Australia.

This was good for both countries, as Britain was struggling with the repatriation of many of its
soldiers, and unemployment was at record highs in that country, and Australia desperately needed its
population to rise to help develop a new nation. This incentive program was ultimately very
successful, with over 300 000 (Bereson, 2000) British nationals emigrating to Australia, bringing
skills, labour force and population growth to drive the economy forward. One component of this
immigration program was that offered involved land settlements to Allied ex servicemen, and 17 000
ex soldiers took this opportunity. This led to greater farm and industry production, which fed the
growth of a young Australia.

International Standing
Prior to World War 1, Australians on the whole suffered due to their geographical isolation, which
technology had yet to defeat. Transport was solely by arduous sea journey, which restricted travel
and communication with the rest of the world. The mass transfer of Australian youth to fight in
Europe enabled the world to see for the first time the unique culture which was developing in this far
away land. Recognition and respect was quickly given for the courage, good humour and strength in
adversity displayed by Australian soldiers. The easy going egalitarian troops challenged the military
norms of their British counterparts. While this
Woolworths
1.Executive Summary

The purpose of this report is to provide a strategic analysis of Woolworths in its Australian retailing
and grocery industry. There are some external factors can be affected to Woolworths strategy. To be
analyzed how these factors impact to Woolworths strategies we would use Porter forces five models
as a framework for analysis. They are threats of new entrants and substitute products, rivalry among
competing established competitors, threat of substitutes and bargaining power of Woolworths
suppliers and customers.

This report also provides the company situation analysis which will be analyzed the internal
environments of Woolworths. In this analysis, we will use SWOT analysis which includes the
strengths, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some reasons can be explained for this reason. Firstly, Woolworths have a high market
share in the industry. In addition, its business size is very big which includes Australian overall
market and some other foreign markets. A lot of selling stores around Australia are good example.
Moreover, the expensive start up costs are another barrier for new competitors. Finally, the high
annual profit of Woolworths is hard for others to enter the retail and grocery industry in Australia.

3.2 Rivalry among established companies

The Australian retail and grocery industry has a high level of concentration ratio because the
available of some major competitors competing in the industry such as Woolworths Ltd, Myer or
Coles (Beaumont, 2004). It means Woolworths have a high concentration of market share in the
Australian retail and grocery industry. In addition, the intensity of those strong competitors is
boosting Woolworths Ltd have been continuously creating a competitive advantage. Using effective
strategy such as low price, selling fresh food, and 24 hour delivery service, Woolworths Ltd and its
subsidiaries such as Safeway, Dicksmith and so on are continuously competing with other rivals for a
strong position in the industry (Porter, 1979).

3.3 Bargaining powers of buyers

Woolworth s customers have a highly powerful bargaining power. The reason is most of Woolworths
selling goods are from individual customers. They can
