Comparison Of Harrison Bergeron And Harrison Bergeron
Harrison Bergeron and 2081: Variations of Different Caliber

Would you rebel for something you believe in, but everyone else does not? Would you die for the
cause of something good and helpful to the world? This is exactly what Harrison did. In Chandler
Tuttle 2081 and Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron, Harrison s appearances, beliefs, the equipment
used on him, and the responses he receives and produces are important aspects to both medias.
Though, the short story and film both have its own unique features that help us connect to his
personality. Harrison from Harrison Bergeron is a considerate, ignored hero, but also an outsider
to the people for his beliefs; since he uses the threatening and self centered words to express his
bitterness and words, many feel he is egocentric, but he has only said this to get his word across,
although, in 2081, Harrison is a wise, intellectual, mature, and a Christ like figure, who appeals to
our senses in a better way than Harrison from the short story does explaining why the current system
is not effective.
Vonnegut s, short story, Harrison Bergeron , portrays Harrison as a considerate, ignored hero but
also an outsider, standing up for the people s and his rights. Vonnegut made it clear that Harrison s
appearance and beliefs are portrayed negatively to others, while the equipment used on him and
others, but also the responses from him and to the handicap generals, ballerinas, and news reporters
have made them get a wrong
Difference Between Classical And Classical Economic Thought
The history of macroeconomic thought and policy was developed through different phases mainly
marked by the depressions, recessions and expansion of the 1930s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and
2000s. Various macroeconomic theories were developed during these periods. Among them,
Keynesian and classical economics addressed economic problems such as unemployment issue with
similarities but also differences.
In this essay, I will identify similarities and differences in Keynesian and classical economic thought.
Then, describe how Keynesian and classical economists address the issue of unemployment. And
finally, I will describe new developments since the 1980s. To identify similarities in Keynesian and
classical economic thought let us first examine their definitions: Classical economics is the body of
macroeconomic thought associated primarily with 19th century British economist David Ricardo
that focused on the long run and on the forces that determine and produce growth in an economy s
potential output.
Keynesian Economics is the body of macroeconomic thought that asserts that changes in aggregate
demand can create gaps between the actual and potential levels of output, and that such gaps can be
prolonged. It stresses the use of fiscal and monetary policy to close such gaps.
We notice from those definitions that both thoughts focus on how an economy reaches its potential
output through various factors.
Unlike similarities, there are more differences in Keynesian and
Devonian Rocks
Melbourne has a bedrock of Middle Paleozoic age which is included within the Devonian and
Silurian periods (354 441 million years prior). These rocks are overlain in wide zones which also
include much more youthful rocks, and were generally part of the Tertiary and Quaternary ages (2
65 mya). Rocks of Early Silurian (441 mya) were discovered to be the most established within the
bedrock. Particular in the outcrops located in the north east around Warrandyte (Anderson Creek
Formation), and on the west side of Melbourne more specifically the Maribyrnong Valley around
Keilor (Springfield Formation). Fossils found within these developments are very unique. Rocks
located east of Keilor and south of Warrandyte were discovered to be more youthful, with different
ages from Late Silurian (418 mya) in the Melbourne Formation (city region) to Early Devonian (384
mya) at the Humevale Formation (Lilydale).
These Paleozoic rocks are steeply plunging sandstones and siltstones, with a little event of
limestone at Lilydale the Early Devonian Lilydale Limestone. The Silurian rocks were stored in
profound water, while the Devonian rocks, which are exceptionally fossiliferous, appear to have
been stored in shallower water. These Silurian and Devonian rocks were folded into a progression of

The first scene helped shape the Keilor and Werribee Plains on the west side of Melbourne due
broad sheets of basalt magma. The second stage included volcanoes toward the north of
Melbourne. These expelled streams that filled the valleys of the Moonee Ponds, Merri and
Darebin brooks. Due to these volcanic eruptions form Hayes Hill near Mernda, magma streams
flowed down towards the Darebin Creek and ancestral Merri Creek valleys and into the Yarra
Valley at Fairfield and further down that valley and onto the Yarra delta and as far as Spencer Street
Controversy With Whale-Hunting Trips
The article Iceland Tourism Courts Controversy with Whale Hunting Trips , written by Tom
Mackenzie and Ed Kiernan talks about how one of the richest men in Iceland, Kristjan Loftsson
owns the only commercial fin whaling company in the world. I believe there is room for both whale
hunting and whale watching as long as whalehunting is kept limited. There should be a tracking
system where each company should be given the annual quota and if they go over, penalize them
with a charge. Whale watching is important because as Masson from the article said, I think 99
percent of the tourists who come to Iceland, they are coming here to experience wild nature at its
best . People like watching whales because of wild nature and they enjoy watching them in the water.
The reason... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, by doing this it would balance both whale hunting and whale watching and I do not
feel people then would have any problem because they know that whale hunting cannot completely
stop as so many people would lose their jobs but this would at least make it better for people who
like whale watching. By limiting the amount of whale hunting, owners of fin whaling company like
Kristjan Loftsson might lose some profit on the year but at least no one will be against them if
they do not over hunt the whales. As Kristjan Loftsson believes the world has wrongly turned
against him , just shows that he does think of other people s opinions on whale hunting and if they
set a quota to a reasonable number then people won t have a problem and he would not think that
the world is against him as he thinks now. People all around the world will not question the owners
and they will still enjoy watching the whales for wild
Meerkats Analysis
In contrast to the reading passage, which emphasizes the altruistic qualities of meerkats, the
professor focuses on explaining some arguments that reedem the characteristics of the mammal.
First of all, the passage states that in groups of meerkats, there is one which acts as a sentinel and
that if a predator approches the group, he gives an alarm cry alerting the other meerkats to escape
from the predator, but as some could consider this act heroic because the sentinel has no food and
the rest of the meerkats have the food they had hunted, the professor argues that a closer studio
revealed that the sentinel meerkat eats before starting guard so that it makes no sacrifices as he is
the first individual of the group who has full stomach. The
China s Boxer Rebellion
Throughout hundreds of years China has undergone several economic

transformations, yet none proved to be as effective as the 1978 shift to a market based

economy. Although this transition has allowed the country to flourish, it did not happen

overnight. In 1978, China was one of the poorest countries in the world. The real per

capita GDP in China was only one fortieth of the U.S. level and one tenth the Brazilian

level (Zhu, 2012, N.p.). Yet since the change occurred, China s real per capita GDP has

consistently grown at an average rate of more than 8% per year. As a result, China s real

per capita GDP is now almost one fifth the U.S. level and at the same level as Brazil

(Zhu, 2012, N.p.). The continued improvements in China s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the beginning of the 20th century, China was bombarded by powerful Western

nations trying to apply as much control over it as possible. The Chinese opposed the

attempts of foreign control and expressed this at the beginning of the 20th century with

the Boxer Rebellion. During this era, the traditional government of China began to fail.

The Chinese people became resentful of foreigners and dissatisfied with failure of the

present government to throw them out, which initiated the Revolution of 1911, replacing

the Chinese 2000 year old imperial system with the Republic of China led by Sun Yat

sen. In January of 1946, two factions of China began to have a power struggle. The KMT

(Kuomintang), which were supplied by the United States, controlled the cities, while the

CCP (Chinese Communist Party) had a strong hold in the countryside (Abbey, 1999,

N.p.). To make matters worse, high inflation rates were weakening the citizens and

military. By 1948, the CCP began to wage war against the KMT, taking control of

Manchuria (a region in northeast China) and working its way south. On October 1, 1949,

Mao Zedong established the People s Republic of China. The People s Republic of
Chief Financial Officer
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a corporate officer responsible for managing the company s
financial operations. This officer is also responsible for all accounting functions including credit
control, budgeting and financial reporting, coordination of financing and funding, expenditure and
liquidity, monitoring and managementof investment and tax issues, provide timely reports to the

Instance, CFO should have financial related information to facilities understanding of option to

demonstrates strong leadership and strategic vision within the financial department and with whole
management team. At minimum, he or she must have the respected and support of the financial
team, be a good motivator, and be necessary (Marc Pfefferle, 2013).
As the responsibilities and influence of the CFO change, it is also important that the CFO
effectively communicates on financial matters, and has effective sale skills of negotiation
(Auditor General Victoria, 2004, pp.3). A CFO who works reliably under pressure to produce
punctually, accurate information but being a nice person is not enough. The old saying, if you re
not part of the solution you re part of the problem is never more true than it is of a CFO involved in
a turnaround (Marc Pfefferle, 2013).
One important role of CFO that author state is the strategic application of technology, utilities
technology to strategic advantage. For example, the use of electronic business opportunities such as

It is like putting together a puzzle, the thought of building a computer can probably seem like a
daunting task, but its amazingly simple and I figured it out just by watching YouTube videos.
The most challenging part of a PC build is selecting the best parts that are right for you, there are
hundreds, if not thousands of different parts to choose from and they are all not created equal.
PCPartPicker is just one site for the task, they have all of the parts ever created on file and you can
simply select which ones you want from all the choices; including graphics cards, motherboards,

Universal Healthcare At Costa Rica

Healthcare in Costa Rica Aside from being an amazing place to vacation, Costa Rica has some of
the best healthcare in Latin America. In the U.S. healthcare is outrageously expensive. Even with
Obamacare, some people can t afford it. Costa Rica has universal healthcare, which has been up
and running for more than 70 years, where everybody is cover. In an article written by Chris
Gilbert for the Centre Daily Times he explains, Under the universal system, every Costa Rican
citizen has health care coverage and can use the public system. (Gilbert, 2014). As stated in a
report written by the World Health Organization (W.H.O.); The Costa Rican healthcare system is
one of the few in Latin America that actually offers almost complete, universal coverage, both
financial and geographical, an achievement that is sustained in a financing strategy based upon the
contributions of workers, employers, and the State, typical of social securities. (Saenz, Bermudez,
Acosta, 2010, p. 6) Unlike developed countries, where the insured are required to select between
services depending on which package they can afford, as an example most of the insurance
packages in Obamacare don t include dental or vision insurance. In Costa Rica healthcare, everyone
pays the same, and is fully covered. Also in the W.H.O report; Health insurance in Costa Rica is
integrated; that is, there is no separation of service packages
Martin Luther King Jr Legacy Essay
Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929 April 4, 1968) was known as an activist and a
remarkable leader for African Americans throughout the Civil Rights Movement. He was put in jail
for his non violent civil rights campaigns, spoke out for racial justice, and tried to find an end to
racial discrimination. King s legacy is still known present day, and continues to be one of the most
well known leaders. Throughout Martin Luther King Jr. s lifetime and the Civil Rights Movement,
King was devoted to abolish segregation, while bringing equality and justice for his fellow African
Americans. With the use of Civil Disobedience, Martin Luther King Jr. was able to end segregation
and bring justice to African Americans, while using Mohandas K. Gandhi s philosophy of a non
violent approach, which used more strength than violence. Established in 1957 after the Montgomery
bus boycott ended, the Southern Christian Leadership was formed in Atlanta, Georgia, and Martin
Luther King Jr. was the president. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference, also known as
SCLC, was formed to end discrimination towards African Americans with the use of Gandhi s
philosophy of non violent protesting or civil disobedience. The SCLC was made of churches and the
ministry of the church from throughout the South, and was developed to organize the protests
influenced by the accomplishment of the bus boycott. This group caused the desegregation of some
cities in southern states; some of these cities were
