The impact of industrial revolution on modern art Essay
Impact of Industrial Revolution on Modern Art at the turn of the 20th Century.

To understand most period and movements in modern art, one must first understand the context in
which they occurred. When one looks at the various artistic styles, one will realize how artists react
to historical and cultural changes and how artists perceive their relation to society.

The transition between the 19th and 20th century has brought further development of modernistic
ideas, concepts and techniques in art. Inspired by Cezanne s idea, saying that all nature objects can
be illustrated with just three geometrical figures: cube, sphere and cone, Pablo Picasso created his
first paintings, which became the icons of modern art and cubism movement in ... Show more content

Kandinsky transformed colour into a completely abstract art absolutely divorced from subject matter.
The fauvists and expressionists shared an appreciation of the pure and simplified shapes of various
examples of primitive art, an enthusiasm that was generated by Gauguin and extended to Picasso,
Brancusi, Modigliani, Derain, and others.

Cubism
About 1909 the implications of Cézanne s highly organized yet revolutionary spatial structures were
expanded by Picasso and Braque, who invented an abstract art of still lives converted into shifting
volumes and planes. Cubism, developed by the artists of the school of Paris, went through several
stages and had an enormous influence on European and American painting and sculpture. In
sculpture its notable exponents included Picasso, Duchamp Villon, Lipchitz, González, and
Archipenko, who began to realize the possibilities of convex and concave volumes. Cubism was
absorbed in Italy by the exponents of futurism and in Germany by the Blaue Reiter group; both these
movements were cut short by the advent of World War I. Fauvism and cubism were introduced by
members of the Eight to a generally shocked American audience in
Canadian Copyright Law
There are various comparable qualities among Canadian and American copyright, for instance, the
general walks in the application strategy. Regardless, every so often Canadian lawyer and clients
make wrong assumptions about US copyright laws that can essentially influence a copyright case.
Besides, some US lawyers and clients erroneously acknowledge more resemblance between
Canadian laws and US than truly exists. The Canadian copyrightlaw is important in today s day in
age because it helps ensure the author gets the credits necessary for their work and protects their
work. This will be shown through the following points in the article below. The Canadian copyright
law has a stronger copyright law because Canadian law has a protection by the federal government;
the rights held by the author, the individual remains the author and fair use and fair dealing.
To begin, copyright is the privilege of an author of a work to keep others from utilizing his or her
work without consent. An author of a work has the selectors right to state yes or no to the different ...

Canada and U.S. are both considered similar in many ways, but when looked at closely one can find
out the differences that both countries hold. While they both may have differences they still do have
some similarities as was discussed in the paragraph above. These distinctions are critical as a result
of their effect on the accessible extent of insurance. As we keep on navigating through the digital
age, copyright law turns out to be progressively imperative, universal in degree, and shockingly
quickly out dated. Organizations in a copyright overwhelming industry, for example, distributing,
programming, plan, promoting, and workmanship ought to keep on staying educated about changes
in copyright law locally and

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Power
Power, a commodity and much debated about topic today. Many take turning on a light or heater
for granted. The problem is that fossil fuels won t last forever and the solutions are a hot topic
amongst the scientific community. Many different solutions have been offered, each with it s pros
and cons. Some scientists are arguing for clean and renewable energy like solar or wind, while
others claim that we should find more effective ways of mining and using fossil fuels. Neither of
these are a single solution that can power the world for an extended period of time. Many have
ideas of how we should harness power, however, not many of them could be a permanent solution,
unlike nuclear fissionis a cleaner, safer, and more reliable solution.

Nuclear Power is, in the timeline of history, relatively new and as such many do not understand
how and why it works. Nuclear power creates energy using the process of nuclear fission, the
releasing of energy creates steam, which then rises up from the reactor, turning turbines in the
process and generating electricity for use. For example, one kilogram of coal produces 8kWh of
energy, one kilogram of uranium 235 produces 24,000,000 kWh of power. This allows for much
more power to be produced over time compared to other energy sources. This cost would lead to an
overabundance and therefore the price of power would decrease, allowing those who previously
went without power to have it. According to Steven Fetter in the article, How Long Will
Emergency Management Evolution Of The Field Summary
After reading the article, Emergency Management: The Evolution of the Field , I gained an
understanding of how emergency management has progressed as a field in the United States during
the last few centuries. There were some information that I had already known prior to reading this
article, but there was a substantial amount of intriguing information that I not only read in order to
write this journal entry, but for my own benefit as a student who is educating himself in this field.
The historical events relating to emergency managementlisted in this article were definitely worth
reading about. For example, in the village of Portsmouth, New Hampshire during 1803, a local fire
broke out that lead to a cry for additional help after local... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the Portsmouth fire of 1803 to Hurricane Sandy of 2012, every major disaster that has
occurred not only in the United States, but in the surrounding countries, has shaped how emergency
management progressed over the last few centuries. Not only did natural disasters played a role in
this evolution, but the U.S. presidents as well because each president had a unique mindset towards
the relationship between the federal government and emergency management. As we progressed
towards the future, there is no doubt that this field is continuing to evolve. Whether it is a natural
disaster or a U.S. President, emergency management only has room for improving. Although it will
have its times of failure, the history of emergency management has shown that failure is only one

The 1982 Tylenol Scandal Crisis
Tylenol, an over the counter prescription product from Johnson Johnson, was one of the top brands
in the analgesic market. Within the company, it was also a large income earner that commanded
nearly 15% of the company s total profits. That being the case, the 1982 crisis was not only a big
blow to the brand, but also to the company as a whole. The crisis jeopardized the company s
existence; putting at risk a multi million investment which the investors had a lot of faith in.
Irrespective of whether the crisis was due to malicious acts from ill motivated criminals or not, the
company had to act swiftly to counter the legal issues which were ensuing and mitigate huge
impending losses. It was really a trying moment for the top management of Johnson Johnsonand
more so to the CEO, James Burke, who faced the toughest test of his managerial career during this
time. Though the crisis was amicably solved, there were some legal issues that were imminent and
some valuable lessons learnt from the episode.

Legal Issues Surrounding 1982 Tylenol Scandal

In both developed and underdeveloped economies, there is a need to put regulations which ensure
that profits are not abnormally earned at the expense of the innocent clients. It is therefore the
mandate of the territorial authorities to put in place measures that introduce checks and balances in
all trades. The respective companies or business must also follow the same suit lest they find
themselves in the crossroads of law. However,
Narrative Loss And The Melancholic Reader Of Johnny Tremain
In Eric Tribunella s essay Narrative Loss and the Melancholic Reader of Johnny Tremain , the
concept of failure is one of Tribunella s main focal points throughout the essay about Esther Forbes
Johnny Tremain. Tribunella argues that these failures are present because the novel lacks climax
throughout the essay s entirety and without this climax there is no sense of closure in the most
climatic events. One particular failure that Tribunella mentions in his essay is the failure of love
triangles in the novel. Tribunella argues that there are three love triangles in Johnny Tremainbut none
of these are fulfilled with a bang . Instead each one of these love triangles slowly fizzles out
throughout the novel. The love triangles that are found in Forbes Johnny Tremain are not those that
represent an epic romancebut instead they represent those of a childhood crush. These
representations can be found in each one of the love triangles that Tribunella argues that is present
in the novel. Tribunella states that one of the love triangles in the novel is between Johnny, Cilla,
and Tweedie. One would believe that this love triangle would create a great conflict in the series
due to the fact that Tweedie is imposing on what was theoretically Johnny s territory. Johnny was
the original golden boy in the Lapham household and due to one accident his pedestal was taken
away from him. Tweedie, a man who was not even around, swoops in to save the Lapham family
and takes Johnny s
Benefits of the Jewish Chicken Soup
Food is only one aspect of cultural tradition, but it is probably one of the most prevalent. Because
of the significance of food in our lives, many ethnic and religious groups incorporate it into special
occasions. Funerals, weddings, birthdays, festivals, fairs, political holidays and religious
celebrations would all loose a bit of their sparkle without the pleasure of food. Various foods are
given symbolic and even transformative connotations. This is a universal truth in most cultures.
A very popular food with cultural significance is chicken soup. It is prepared very differently in
different cultures. From Mexico s chili spiked sopa de Fideos, to China s gingery QiguoJi,
cultures have a love affair with chicken in a pot. In Bulgaria, chicken soup is often seasoned with
lemon juice or vinegar. The Taiwan style of chicken soup includes dried jujube fruits, tea, and
other various herbs. The Columbian version of is called ajiaco and includes sweet corn, several
types of potatoes, avocado, capers, an herb called guascas, and a dollop of cream. Polish chicken
soup is commonly served with fine noodles and sometimes a ground almond broth called ros贸艂.
In the United States and Canada, chicken soup often has noodles or rice. The Campbell Soup
Company coined the phrase chicken noodle soup in the 1930s and it has endured to this day.
While no single culture can claim chicken soup as exclusively its own, chicken soup is a traditional
dish of the Jewish kitchen. No Shabbat,
Battle of Stalingrad Essay
From July 1942 to February 1943, Soviet forces defended the city of Stalingrad from Nazi attack.
The battle began during the summer offensive of 1942, Nazi Army groups A an B had already
pushed past Stalingrad to take oil fields in south west Russia, when Hitler ordered Stalingrad be
attacked (Trueman, n.d.). Some historians believe that Hitler ordered the taking of Stalingrad simply
because of the name of the city and Hitler s hatred of Joseph Stalin. For the same reason Stalin
ordered that the city had to be saved (Trueman, n.d.). Stalingrad was also the center of Soviet
communications and manufacturing in the south. Since Stalingrad had such a significance to the
soviet war effort and because the Soviets could not allow the... Show more content on

Soviet Logistics were hampered but still functioning throughout the battle. The Soviets used the
Volga river to move supplies and personnel into and out of Stalingrad. The Soviets also had
functioning factories in Stalingrad producing tanks. Many of these tanks rolled off the assembly
line and were immediately driven to the front line, many without paint or gun sights (Beevor,
1998). The Nazi generals had to consult with Hitler before any large decisions could be made.
Messages had to be sent back to Germany then the commanders would have to wait for a
response. The Soviet commanders on the other hand had their leader just across the river Volga.
Commands were easily passed to Soviet commanders. National leaders on both sides refused to
give up Stalingrad. The soviets refused to give up the city because they feared the blow to
national morale (Trueman, n.d.). Intelligence failures existed on both sides of the battle. Stalin
ignored warnings that the Nazi offensive would take place in the south of Russia and bolstered
Moscow s defenses instead (Luther, 2004). Nazi leadership failed to notice the strategic
withdrawal of Soviet forces while they advanced toward Stalingrad. Later in the conflict Nazi
leaders ignored the indicators of a troop build up behind Soviet lines despite their allies being able
to hear the sounds of the build up. The Soviets forced the advancing Nazi s to fight in an urban
Linda Bove s Role In Sesame Street
You probably remember watching Sesame Street when you were a kid. You probably can recall
characters like Grover, Bert, Mr. Hooper, and Linda the Librarian. Linda the Librarian was a deaf
character, portrayed by Linda Bove, who is actually deaf in real life. Although she is mostly known
for her role on Sesame Street, she has also appeared in many other TV shows, movies, and plays
such as: Search for Tomorrow, Happy Days, Children of a Lesser God, Sign Me a Story, Somebody
to Love, and Weeds.

Linda was born deaf on November 30, 1945, to deaf parents. She was born in Garfield, New
Jersey. As a child, she attended schools in both Bronx, New York and Trenton, New Jersey, so she
could get the best deaf education. She went to St. Joseph School for the Deaf, Marie Katzenbach
School for the Deaf, which she graduated from in 1963. After high school, she attended Gallaudet
University for college, where she studied library science. While in college, she got into theatre,
where she was in multiple theatrical productions, such as, The Threepenny Opera and poetic
characterizations of the Spoon River Anthology . After becoming more ... Show more content on

In the 1970s, Linda, as well as some of her colleagues, began a company called Little Theatre of
the Deaf, to attract more deaf people and children. It was dedicated to deaf communication
between deaf people and the importance to teach deaf children to sign. Overall, the company
gained a lot of recognition. Linda later became involved with the Deaf West Theater Company,
which was dedicated to deaf actors and actresses. The plays the company put on were performed
using both sign language and speech in order to help connect the deaf and hearing worlds. Through
most of her acting roles, she works to spread awareness of the deaf community, and spread the
message that being deaf is not something to be ashamed

I could feel the anger burning inside. This was stressing me out. I could not get it. I had been

as of now I am not sure I will ever get it.
I kept working on it, and I kept falling to. Trying to get my front walkover was like when I was
trying to get my backflip a few months ago. At first I could not get it and I struggled but I got it in

Can you help me? I asked quietly,
Why? She replied,
because I can land my front walkover, I said angrily.
Sure, she replied. This had made me feel a lot happier. Because now I might have a shot at landing it.
Hailey began giving me tips on what I could do better. She also told me what I was doing wrong.
She had told me lots. She was like a old person with lots of knowledge. I really liked the fact that
she was helping me though so I did not care what she seemed like. She said that I need to
straighten my legs and arms so I can have balance. I did both of these things and I got closer to
landing it. At this point I was feeling much happier than earlier. I was regaining hope. I also felt
more confident in myself now that I had help. I felt like I would soon succeed at it.
I was getting a lot better. With Haileys help I am to the point where I can almost land it. I was
feeling awesome. Especially now that I knew I had a shot at landing it.
Step slower. You are stepping to fast that is why you are landing on your knees, she said kindly.
Okay, I replied out of breath. I got in my position and got ready to start.
This time when I started I had straight arms, straight legs, and straight body. I put my leg out getting
ready to start. At this point I

The Problem Of Cyber Security Solutions
The seemingly exponential growth of the Internet has resulted in a largely unforeseen increase in
the type, frequency and variety of cyber attacks[20]. These attacks can be very expensive and
difficult from which to recover. Because of this there is a need to know what traffic should be
permitted and what is malicious[22]. To this end there are many well known cyber security solutions
are in place to counteract these attacks such as firewalls, anti virus software and IDS (Intrusion
Detection System) [23]. Many of these require manual analysis however and approaches such as
relying on host dependencies, profiling host behaviors or using deep packet inspection have been
developed. These approaches have scalability issues though making them less than optimum in high
speed networks [23]. The generation of Big Data over computer networks is quickly making all of
these solutions somewhat obsolete though. To alleviate this problem and enhance the overall level of
a system s security, the application of Big Data Analytics techniques to cybersecurity have become
an area of great interest. These applications can be used to assist those administrating networks in the
monitoring and real time detection of anomalous behavior in network streams[20].

An intrusion detection system (IDS), as mentioned previously is a cyber security solution designed
to defend against network attacks. It however does not prevent attacks like an Intrusion Prevention
System (IPS) [27]. It is considered
