Yes, that's excellent. That is why all of you
are suddenly reversing your educational
trajectory. Despite the fact that we cannot
see or foresee the future, we can prepare
for it by investing in our education.
Teachers are more than just the conduits of
information in our educational system. Our

DATA PROCESSING (Students listen.)
First let’s talk about data
Data- Data must be manipulated and
processed to achieve a desirable results
and turn it into more useful information
Data Processing - Is a process of
(Students will volunteer to give answer)
manipulating data to make it more useful
1. Ram. Rom. Floppy disk, hard disk
forms. It not only consists of
mathematical calculations but also data
operations.
METHODS OF DATA PROCESSING
1. Batch processing- Data is
collected and processed in
batches. Used for large amounts
of data.
Ex. Payroll System
2. Real- time processing- Data is
processed within seconds when
the input is given. Used for
small amounts of data.
Ex. Withdrawing money from
ATM
3. Online processing-Data is
automatically fed into the CPU (Students listen.)
as soon as it becomes available.
Used for continuous processing
of data
Ex. QR Code
4. Multiprocessing- Data is
broken down into frames and
processed using two or more
CPUs within a single computer
system. Also known as parallel
processing
Ex. Weather Forecasting
5. . Time-Sharing- Allocates
computer resources and data in (Students listen.)
time slots to several users
simultaneously
Ex: Multics , Unix

STAGES OF DATA PROCESSING

1. Input- The raw data after
collection needs to be fed in the
cycle for processing.
2. Process- Once the input is
provided the raw data is
processed by a suitable or
selected processing method.
This is the most important step
as it provides the processed data
in the form of output which will
be used further.
3. Output- This is the outcome
and the raw data provided in the
first stage is now “processed”
and the data is useful and
provides information and no
longer called data.

DATA PROCESSING OPERATION

1. Recording- refers to the
transfer of data from one form
to another. Numbers or figures
and facts resulting from the
operation are documented.
2. Verifying- refers to the
checking of data for any errors
of discrepancy because most
data are recorded manually.
(Students listen.)
3. Duplicating- is the
reproduction of data into many
forms.
4. Classifying- it separates data
into its distinctive categories.
5. Sorting- refers to the arranging
of data in specific order. Orders
may be cardinal, ordinal,
alphabetical or lexicographic
order.
6. Calculation- refers to the
arithmetic calculation of data.
7. Summarizing and reporting- the
data are condensed to their
meaningful forms.
