3.4 [Warning/Detection]
Image Warning
Image Warning is the function to display and print warning target objects when a file contains
objects specified as the warning target.
You can check such objects in the image by printing them in the specified color, or by extracting
and printing only these objects, or deleting them from the image.
RGB Warning
The RGB Warning function is used to detect RGB or CIE images during printing in order to avoid
errors.
RGB images may be output in color K during color separations output printing. Therefore, al-
though the color images are printed from a composite printer, they may appear in black and
white during color separations output in offset pressing.
RGB and CIE images containing errors that occurred during printing is printed in a warning color.
RGB images included in RGB photos and objects are printed in magenta, and CIE images in cyan.
RGB CIE
Note
• When [Color] > [2 Color Print Simulation] is available during composite output, the RGB Warning will be avail-
able regardless of the 2 Color Print Simulation settings.
When performing color separations output from applications, the print quality will be the same as when color
separations output is performed in the imagesetter because the RGB and CIE images are converted into color
K by the applications.
• When [Color] > [Color Mode] is [Grayscale], the RGB Warning will be unavailable.
• The RGB Warning function is available for jobs printed in composite colors. When performing color separations
output from applications, the print quality will be the same as when color separations output is performed in
the imagesetter because the RGB and CIE images are converted into color K by the applications.
• When RGB Warning is enabled, the setting of [Color] > [RGBS] > [RGB] > [RGB Simulation] is disabled.
• A CIE image is an image whose colors are represented in the CIE Color Space. For example, if you enable the
PostScript Color Management function in Photoshop, RGB images are automatically converted into CIE imag-
es, and CMYK images into CIE images with color profiles embedded.
• The following applications are registered so that RGB Warning is enabled:
‐ Illustrator, InDesign, PageMaker, and QuarkXPress
Warning Color
Note
• Spot Color Warning will be available regardless of if you check [Color] > [2 Color Print Simulation].
• Checking [Color] > [2 Color Print Simulation] allows you to ignore the Spot Color Warning for the following
settings of Job Properties:
‐ When [Color] > [Color Mode] is [Grayscale].
‐ When [Image Quality] > [Advanced] > [Combine Color Separations] in the color separations output job is set
to [Disable].
‐ When [Image Quality] > [Advanced] > [Combine Color Separations] in the composite output job is set to
[Composite Separation].
• White object (C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=0) is out of subject of the Spot Color Warning.
• Spot color objects whose tint value is 0% are not the target of the spot color warning.
Warning Color
When total ink coverage exceeds the specified value in the documents, objects will be printed in
the warning color.
Note
• When you check [Color] > [2 Color Print Simulation], the Total Ink Coverage Warning will be unavailable.
• The total ink coverage warning will apply to all objects in combine separations / In-RIP separations. However, it
becomes invalid when [Grayscale] is selected in [Color] > [Color Mode].
26 [Settings]
Hairline Warning
Extract, "Delete", or "Warning Color" can be used to give warnings for strokes less than the spec-
ified width. You can detect the potential lost or faded strokes in offset pressing with this func-
tion. The stroke width can be specified in [Warning Width].

Overprint Warning
Objects with overprint or trapping applied that are difficult to distinguish on the monitor or
during normal printing will be extracted or printed in the warning color.
Note
• Overprint Warning is only available for separations set as composite output in the applications.
• The overprint warning function becomes invalid in combine separations / In-RIP separations, where overprint
and trapping are performed according to the specified settings.
• White object (C = 0, M = 0, Y = 0, K = 0) is out of subject of the Overprint Warning.
• The Overprint Warning function will be available regardless of the [Color] > [2 Color Print Simulation] settings.
• The Overprint Warning cannot be used in Grayscale mode.
[RGB Warning]
Checking the box enables RGB warning to become available.

are analyzed.)
The detected numbers and colors are printed as follows:
- Number of detected QR Code is 0: "QR Code Checked"
- Number of detected QR Code is 1 or more: "* QR Codes Detected (* Grays, * Inversions, *
Colors: CM)"
Detection Level
Enter the threshold value during binarization processing when detecting the QR Code. The
lower the detection level, QR codes in a light color will be more effectively detected, while
the higher the detection level, inverted QR codes in a light color will be more effectively de-
tected.
However, if there exists a mix of color, gray, and inverted QR codes, not necessarily every QR
codes can be detected regardless of the detection lever you set.
Note
• When a single "colored and inverted" QR code is detected, "one inversion and one color" is printed, because
the types - inversion and color - are counted separately.
• Although the types to be detected (indicated in parentheses) do not include "Monochrome," the number of
monochrome QR codes is also included in the total number of the detected items.

[CMYK Simulation]
Check the box to perform color correction on the object of the CMYK color space.
Note
• Color correction is not performed on the CMYK object area where spot colors are overprinted.
Therefore, tone jump may occur when a CMYK object area where near 0% (1% or less) spot colors are over-
printed lies adjacent to an area consisting of only CMYK objects.
• Unchecking this box when [RGB] > [Convert RGB to CMYK Source] is checked, printing cannot be done due to
a processing error.
• Device link profiles provided by default on Print Server are assumed to be used in operation with standard cal-
ibration and advanced calibration. If you want to perform G7 calibration and then use the results to make color
correction of CMYK images, you must create a new device link profile for G7 calibration.

• When you uncheck the box, RIP processing may take time.
• When this box is unchecked, the process for converting to CMYK is done prior to the transparentizing process,
and therefore, color irregularities or show-through of spot colors are eliminated on jobs where transparent
effects or spot colors are used.
• When you check the box, RIP processing may take time.
• When you check the box, any spot color objects included in the following elements are printed at the front:
‐ Forms positioned at the bottom layer
‐ Watermarks positioned at the bottom layer
‐ Color strips
Note
When this item is checked, a job error occurs in the case where the color space of the PDF/X output intent pro-
file specified in the PDF document is other than CMYK.
Note
y [Perceptual]

y [Saturation]
Performs processing so that a color image can be reproduced in a balance of the hue and
saturation.
y [Relative Colorimetric]
Performs processing so that an image matches appropriate colors in a reproducible color
area and, colors, which cannot be reproduced by a printer because they spread in different
color areas, can be printed in the nearest colors.
y [Absolute Colorimetric]
Absolute mode in which no adjustment is made between white of input data and white of
paper. However, a white data part may be color-printed depending on a profile to be applied.

• Deselecting the checkmark on [Fail if Unregistered Spot Color is Set for Jobs] under [System Settings] > [Job
Settings] > [Server] saves from errors occurring.
• To color-correct spot colors in the combine separations mode, select [Image Quality] > [Advanced] > [Com-
bine Color Separations] > [Auto] then put a checkmark to [Spot Color Correction]. The same color correction
as spot color correction is performed in addition to combine separations of spot color plates.
• For printing from QuarkXPress in the composite mode, EPS files of double tone from Photoshop will be output
in the CIE colors, and therefore the spot color correction will be ineffective. On the other hand, for printing
from QuarkXPress in the color separations mode, files will be output on a spot color plate and the color sepa-
rations will be combined, and therefore the spot color correction will be effective.
• Any new spot colors used on page 100 and the subsequent pages in a PostScript file or on page 5,000 and the
subsequent pages in a PDF file, may be printed in alternate colors with no spot color correction applied.
• Even if the name of spot color used in a job is different with the name of spot color registered in the list by de-
fault, they are decided as the same color automatically. (Note that the spot color created and registered newly
is decided as the different spot color.)
‐ Example 1:When a spot color named "DIC 1s" is included in a job, "DIC 1" in the spot color list is used.
‐ Example 2: When a spot color named "TOYO 0005" is included in a job, "TOYO 0005*" in the sport color list is
used.
• When an area in a dark spot color is overlaid by other objects by means of a transparent effect or an overprint
option, the overlaid area may appear blackish.
• Spot color profiles provided by default on Print Server are assumed to be used to ensure color matching in op-
eration with standard calibration and advanced calibration. If you want to perform G7 calibration and then use
the results to make color correction of spot color, you must create a new destination profile for G7 calibration.

Input Example
For files with CMYK + two spot colors (DIC 1 and DIC 10), the following settings are avail-
able:
Example 1
Do not print any of the spot color separations.
• Check [Use C Plate], [Use M Plate], [Use Y Plate], and [Use K Plate] with the text box left
blank.
• Uncheck [Use Spot Color Plate].
Example 2
Print spot color DIC 1, but not DIC 10.
• Check [Use C Plate], [Use M Plate], [Use Y Plate], and [Use K Plate] with the text box left
blank.
• Uncheck [Use Spot Color Plate] and enter "DIC 1=DIC 1, DIC 10==C0M0Y0K0" in the text
box.
Example3
Print C and M, leave Y unprinted, replace K with TOYO 1000 and DIC 1 with C80%/M40%,
and do not print DIC 10.
• Check [Use C Plate] and [Use M Plate] with the text box left blank.
• Uncheck [Use Y Plate].
• Check [Use K Plate] and enter "TOYO 1000" in the text box.
• Check [Use Spot Color Plate] and enter "DIC 1==C80M40, DIC 10==C0M0Y0K0" in the
text box.
Note
• Although the unselected CMYK color objects cannot be printed, they will appear in white as the supported
color separations are knocked out.
• When [Settings] > [Warning/Detection] > [Hairline Warning] is [Print Only Hairline], or [Overprint Warning]
is [Print Only Overprint Parts], extracted results are not printed when no color is selected for the object to be
extracted.
• When [Image Quality] > [Advanced] > [Combine Color Separations] is [Disable], jobs specified for color sepa-
ration will only be printed in color K. At this time, if you perform 2 Color Print Simulation without selecting K, a
blank page will be output.
[Resolution]
Select the resolution (dpi) for RIP processing and printing.
Specifying a high resolution takes a long time to perform RIP processing.
Note
[1200dpi] and [600dpi] are processed as multivalued (8 bit), and [600dpi 1bit] are processed as binary (1 bit),
and therefore, on the printed output, you may notice difference in tone representation between them.
[1200 dpi]
RIP processing and printing are carried out in 1,200 dpi/10-bit.
Note
How the image is processed depends on the settings in [Printer] > [Image Quality].
[600 dpi]
RIP processing and printing are carried out in 600 dpi/10-bit.

For the information on the screening settings, see "4.6 [Job Settings]" in 'Server Settings'.
[Composite Overprint]
Checking the box enables the overprint settings specified in the application to become en-
abled even in the composite output mode.
Unchecking the box enables the overprint settings specified in the application to become
disabled.
This is effective for images and texts of DeviceCMYK but ineffective for the DeviceRGB, CIE
object, and ICCBased color object, unlike the color separations output.
Note
• This is disabled if the setting is [Settings] > [Warning/Detection] > [Overprint Warning] is other than [Do Not
Warn], or [Color] > [Color Mode] is [Grayscale].
• For CIEBasedDEFG and ICCBasedCMYK color objects, if [Color] > [CMYK] > [Use Embedded Profile] is un-
checked, they are treated as DeviceCMYK objects and processed according to the settings specified in the
application and the [Composite Overprint] setting.
66 [Image Quality]
[Always knock out white objects]
Check the box to knock out the white object in the job specified overprint.
[Black Overprint]
Check the box to enable black overprint regardless of the overprint setting specified in the
application.
[Threshold Value]

Note
• This is effective for text and line art, but not for photo.
• This is ineffective when [Color] > [Color Mode] is [Grayscale].
[Sharpness]
Select a sharpness level.
Note
• When you print a file with this item on and with [Color] > [RGB] > [RGB Simulation] selected in the Job Set-
tings, it results in the following:
‐ RGB Grayscale file is printed in black and white.
‐ RGB Grayscale file with color correction profile (such as ICC Profile) may be printed in color mode.
• Check the box to replace the RGB gray with pure K gray to print for data of applications (such as Word) where
the color definition is set to RGB.
However, if you uncheck [Apply to Image and Shading], to the RGB gray of the image object (including ruled
lines), the replacement is invalid, and therefore the paper will be printed in color.
• CMYK Color Correction also applies to objects in K that was substituted for RGB gray, except for Raster and
Shading.
* A shading pattern is a type of an object of PostScript or PDF. It is created when, for example, you specify
gradation in aDTP application. It is created when, for example, you specify gradation in a DTP applica-

72 [Image Quality]
[Specify Transparency for Spot Color]
Select a transparency of spot colors for separation output so that the reproducibility of col-
ors in areas where spot colors and CMYK colors overlap is increased.
Note
If you use this option along with [Image Quality] > [Sharpness], your intended correction result may not be
obtained due to the sharpness applied after the edge density correction.
‐ increasing [Sharpness] (moving toward +) may result in density being too high because density correction is
enhanced.
‐ When [Sharpness] is decreased (moving toward -), desirable results may not be obtained due to the density
correction.
[Gradation Correction]
Check this box and select the correction target. This provides a smoother representation of
the target gradation.
Note
• When you check the box, in order to adapt to the presence/absence and the range (area) of the concerned
object, it will take some time for the correction to be processed.
• Check / uncheck as necessary depending on content of the print data and the need for reproduction.
[Replace Color]
Checking the box allows you to change specific RGB and CMYK values in a job into specific
CMYK or Spot Colors.
Click [Select] and select the setting file.
Note
Refer
For information on color replacement, see "2.4 [Color Replacement]" in 'Color Management'.
Note
• This is not for simulating the trapping setting specified in the application. This is to advantage the printed
image when white spaces can be seen on the overwrapped area of the text and figures.
• This option is disabled when [Color] > [Color Mode] is set to [Grayscale] in the Job Settings or when a job is
combine color separations output mode.
• This is ineffective for the background form.
• If you check [Layout] > [Job Slug/ Color Strip] > [Add Custom Job Slug], then set this function to [None].

Note
• When [Spot Color] > [Spot Color Correction] is unchecked, specialty color is not printed, even if the spot color
is defined as containing colors of specialty toner.
• By checking the [Use Specialty Toner] box, and setting CMYK to 0 so that only specialty toner is printed, a
specific spot color can be automatically replaced with specialty color.
Note
• This option is disabled when [Image Quality] > [Sharpness] has not been set. (It is not possible to apply the
settings only to specialty toners without applying them to CMYK.)
• This option is not applied to Clear toner, TX toner.

Note
• For PPML files, no specialty toner is applied over areas that do not contain reusable and variable parts.
• When [Order] is set to [Bottom Layer] in [Layout] > [Watermark], the specialty toner plate for the watermark
is not printed, and the specialty toner plate generated for the job is printed.
• This option is not effective when printing on embossed media.
[Full Page]
Specialty toner is applied over entire sheet of paper.
[Objects]
Specialty toner is applied over the object for which the check box is selected.
y [Maximum Density (%)]
Enter the density of specialty toner in %.
Note
For Clear toner, TX toner, the toner density in your printed output may be different from that expected due to
limitation of maximum toner usage.
Note
• An error occurs if toner other than clear or textured paper (TX) toner is installed for the top layer.
• For Textured (TX) toner, the toner density in your printed output can vary due to limitation of maximum toner
usage.
• Clear toner is always printed in the density of 100%. (Limitation of maximum toner usage is not applied)
Note
When a toner other than Pink is installed on the top layer, an error occurs.

[Offset Stacking]
Select whether to offset each copy, record, or job.
y [No Offset]
Does not offset each set.
Note
If you select an option other than [No] in [Output] > [Stapling/Hole Punch/Folding] > [Stapling], printed sets are
output according to the settings that are set on the printer.
Note
The sheet insertion, banner sheet and the job properties sheet are also offset with the text together.
Note
Even Job with [Divide by Records] setting is not offset by every record unit. They are ejected by the unit speci-
fied in [Offset Stacking].
[Output Destination]
Select where to output the printed sheets.
Note
• When you select [Auto Select] and there are some trays that can be output, paper is output on the tray of the
device near the printer.
• If the tray is not installed, is displayed on the left of the output tray name.
• The output destination of long paper (488.1 - 729.0 mm landscape) is Catch Tray, High Capacity Stacker Output
Tray, or Finisher Output Tray. When there are multiple trays, we recommend that you use the Output Tray closest
to the printer unit. Please note that paper of 729.1 mm landscape or larger can only be output to the output tray
closest to the printer unit.
82 [Output]
[Divide by Records]
Divide the job into a number of records.
Note
If you have selected an imposition option, this option is applied after imposition has been done.
y [Off]
Does not divide the job into records.
y [Number of Pages]
Divides the job into records. The number of pages per record can be specified in the [Num-
ber of Pages] edit box.
When the total number of pages cannot be divided by the specified number of pages per re-
cord, the last fraction of pages will be output as one record.
When the total number of pages is the same or smaller than the specified number of pages
per record, this setting is ineffective.
Note
Any inserts set in [Paper] > [Pages to Apply Special Settings] are not included in the page count.
y [PDL Specified]
This option is effective for PPML jobs, as well as Form Print (i.e., [Layout] > [Form] > [Use
Form] is checked) jobs. When you select this option for other jobs, they will be moved to the
Error List as an error.
For a PPML job, each set will be delivered by automatically retrieving the length per record
from PPML data.
For a Form Print job, each set will be delivered by dividing the stream based on the number
of pages of form that is set in [Layout] > [Form].
When the record divide information cannot be retrieved from the PPML, the job results in an
error.
Note
You can select this option when [None] is selected in [Layout] > [Imposition Settings].
[Number of Pages]
When [Number of Pages] is selected, enter the number of pages per record.
[Record to Print]
Checking the box allows you to specify the range of records to be printed.
Note
This option cannot be set for a job for which [Settings] > [Document Page Range] is set to other than [All Pag-
es], or for which [Paper] > [Output Page Range] is set to other than [All Pages].
[Record No.]
Enter the records number.
Use commas to separate each record and hyphens for consecutive records. For example,
[-5] means "From Record 1 to 5", and [5-] means "From Record 5 and after".
[Print Sample]
Select how samples are to be printed.
To check if the job will print as expected, you can perform a sample print before initiating the
print run.
y [None]
A sample print is not generated.
y [By Copies]
A sample is printed at an interval of the number of copies entered in [Print Interval (Copies)].
Note
Items that you can set depend on what optional units are equipped.
[Stapling]
Select the stapling positions.
Note
• Some stapling positions are not available depending on the type of Finisher.
• If selecting an item other than [Saddle Stitch (Image Inside)] or [Saddle Stitch (Image Outside)], you cannot
set [Output] > [Output Method].
• In [Saddle Stitch (Image Inside)] or [Saddle Stitch (Image Outside)], the page order is changed automatically
depending on the type of the finisher installed and the front and back of the left and right ejection sides of the
last page.
If you do not change the page order, select [Saddle Stitch].
84 [Output]
• If [Saddle Stitch] is selected in [Bind Method] of the imposition settings, the settings specified in [Imposition
Settings] is prioritized, and the reading order specified in [Saddle Stitch (Image Inside)] or [Saddle Stitch (Im-
age Outside)] is ignored.
• The output data is not stapled by every record unit even in the job set to other than [Disable] in [Output] >
[Divide by Records].
• In 2-sided printing, the position of front and back sides is swapped when Side 1 is ejected. This swap can often
cause issues of unexpected stapling positions, so make sure you check the output preview while specifying
staple position; you need to select a reverse position between top and bottom, and left and right, for example,
a position on the "right" side if you want to staple on the "left" side of the prints.
[Hole Punch]
Select where to punch holes.
[Folding]
Select the type of fold.
Note
• Some stapling positions are not available depending on the type of Finisher.
• If selecting an item other than [Disable] or [Single Fold], you cannot set [Output] > [Output Method].
• When you select an item other than [Single Fold], the page order will be changed automatically depending on
the type of the installed finisher, the position of the last page (right or left), or the inversion setting.
When you do not want to change the page order, select [Single Fold].
• If [Saddle Stitch] is selected in [Bind Method] of the imposition settings, the settings specified in [Imposition
Settings] is prioritized, and the reading order specified in [Saddle Stitch (Image Inside)] or [Single Fold (Image
Outside)] is ignored.
• If [Single Fold] is selected, the output data is not divided by records but folded in single even in the job set to
other than [Disable] in [Output] > [Divide by Records].
Note
This value may be ineffective depending on the total number of pages or [Copies], or the specification of [Col-
lated].

• Measure the position of the crease while the printed sample is in an unfolded condition.
• Measure at the center position of the uneven part of the crease.
(2) From the measured figure, calculate the value to be entered, and enter the value in [Distance

The value to be entered is "Initial value - (target right value - measured right value) + corrected value
of the side on the right". (Enter the value from the crease on the right side)
Example: a: 89.5mm, b: 90mm, c: 89mm

In [Crease Type], select [Custom], and enter the value.
Note
• When adjusting the crease position of a booklet that is selectable from [Crease Type], go to Printer User Inter-
face and select [Profiles] > [Fold Adjustment].
In [Fold Adjustment], you can automatically calculate the adjustment value of the crease misalignment, and
align the crease correctly.
• Even if you enter a value to match the length of each side in [Distance from Paper Edge], the crease may still
be misaligned. (Even if you match the length of each side and print, the length of each side of the output paper
is different due to the adjustment value of the crease misalignment.)
• In [Crease Type], when you select [4-Fold Accordion Fold] or [5-Fold Accordion Fold], the value displayed in
[Distance from Paper Edge] is not evenly assigned. (The displayed values indicate the positions where the
paper leading and trail edges come to approximately 2 mm inside of crease.)

Printer Driver
• When printing from the Mac client or later using the following applications with the output
paper size set to [Custom], the print results may be reduced or enlarged so that they fit to the
paper size even when the reduce/enlarge setting is not selected.
‐ Illustrator CS5 or later
‐ InDesign CS5 or later
‐ Acrobat X or later
‐ Adobe Reader X or later
To avoid the phenomenon, print in one of the following ways.
‐ Do not select the custom size, or set up the size in [Paper] > [Output Paper Size] > [Custom
Size] in Job Properties after sending the PDF file to Print Server.
‐ Adobe Reader/Acrobat, open the [Print] dialog box > [Advanced Print Setup] and check
[Print as image]. (The print image quality differs from the one with [Print as image] un-
checked.)
‐ Open the PDF in the preview mode by using a PDF viewing application installed in macOS
and then print it with custom size specified. (The print image quality differs from those from
Adobe Reader/Acrobat.)
• Print image orientation of a job sent from the printer driver is occasionally different from that
you specify. This is because the printer description described later (ViewingOrientation) be-
comes effective regardless of the specified orientation.
If this occurs when you are sending jobs from Adobe Reader/Acrobat, unchecking [Choose
paper source by PDF page size] in the [Print] dialog box (i.e. does not specify ViewingOrienta-
tion) may resolve the problem.
• Imposition jobs whose [Bind Method] is [Catalog Printing] may not be properly printed. To
solve this issue, convert the job into a PDF file, import it directly into Print Server, and then
print it on Print Server.
• As for the settings in [Paper] > [Pages to Apply Special Settings], some of the job properties
from the printer driver for Windows can be specified.
‐ Up to five combinations of "Front Cover/Back Cover/Inserts/Pages to Add Exceptions/Re-
peat" can be specified.
‐ The maximum number of characters allowed for [Add Exceptions] > [Page Range] > [Specif-
ic Pages] is 40. Any excess text may be ignored.
• The [2 Sided] setting in job properties for Print Station may not be able to function in conjunc-
tion with job properties in a printer driver for macOS, so you must set it in job properties for
Print Station.
Notes on Paper
• As for the settings in [Paper] > [Pages to Apply Special Settings], some of the job properties

• If you print from an application that does not support pass-through method, the color space
will be RGB regardless of the job property settings. The overprint settings will also be disabled.
• Secure PDF files may not be able to be printed with pass-through.
• Printing a list (Print) cannot be performed (Logical Printer, System Settings, Resources, Job
Properties).
RIP
Common Restrictions
• If many spot colors are used in a job, it may take a long time to print data.
(The number of spot colors that can be processed is up to 100, which is the total number of
the spot colors contained in the original and those set for the job.)
• Some applications may not be able to auto-determine head and toe of files or may rotate page
images 90 degrees, and therefore stapling or punching may not be done on the intended posi-
tion. In this case, check the output page preview on the Print Station (Output Direction is indi-
cated by an arrow).
• Printing area of PDF file is the inner area of the CropBox specified by PDF. When CropBox is
not specified, it becomes the inner side area of MediaBox. However, when [Layout] > [Use
Document TrimBox] is checked in Job Properties, the inner area in TrimBOX is used.
• When you manage colors on Host with ICC profile, uncheck [Color] > [CMYK] > [CMYK Simu-
lation] (or [RGB] > [RGB Simulation]), and check [Color] > [CMYK] > [Use Embedded Profile]
(or [RGB] > [Use Embedded Profile]) in Job Properties.
• Jobs created using different form in each page may be an error because the work space is not
enough while printing.
• When printing with TrueType font that is not supported the font embed to PDF file is done, the
character specifying this font may not 5be printed correctly. For the information whether the
using font supports PDF or not, contact font vendor.
• When an object to which spot colors are applied in a PDF is deleted in an Acrobat operation,
[Unregistered Spot Color Error] may appear if the spot color information remains. However,
unregistered spot colors cannot be registered because detecting spot colors is not available in
the PS preflight.
To solve this issue, register the spot colors in [Color] > [Spot Color] in the Main Menu, or un-
check [Fail if Unregistered Spot Color is Set for Jobs] in the [Settings] icon > [System Settings]
> [Job Settings] > [Server] in the link menu.
• When you register a spot color in [Register Unregistered Spot Colors] under [View PS Preflight
Report], a different color from that you specified in the application is occasionally registered.
In this case, register the target spot color using [Color] > [Spot Color] in the Main Menu.
• When the orientation of paper set in the selected paper tray differs from that of RIP docu-
ments at the time of printing, the document orientation is automatically rotated according to
the paper.
However, when the following RIP jobs are printed, they cannot be rotated and an error occurs.
‐ When [Layout] > [Page Settings for Imposed Page], [Page Number], [Form], [Watermark],
and [Job Slug / Color Strip] are selected in Job Properties.
‐ When an imposition template on which [Marks and Slugs] tab > [Collating/Signature Mark
Settings] > [Signature Mark] and [Additional Information Settings] are selected.
• PS/PDF data that does not meet the language specification may not be able to be processed
successfully even if it can be displayed in the viewer.
CPSI Job
• Processing of the transparent effects on image uses quite a lot of work space. Therefore, a de-
compose error may occur due to lack of work space. When a decompose error occurs, reduce
the transparent area or separate or unify the transparent with the optimization.
• Color difference may occur on the printed sheet when you print a file with transparent object
specified or with an embedded profile.
• When an object with the Transparency Setting cannot be printed properly, save it as a PDF file,
and print the file with the APPE job.
• When [Image Quality] > [Advanced] > [Trapping] is [Use Template] and use a trapping settings
file by clicking [Select] in the job properties, and if the setting of the selected trapping settings
file is set as [Trap Images To Images] in the [Trap Settings] tab, data may not be printed prop-
erly.
• Green, "blue", "red", and "registration color" are not recognized as spot colors. Therefore, they
are not detected as spot colors at the time of Preflight processing.
• The PostScript Data refers directly to a file may have an error when referring file and not en-
able to print property.
• If you check [Color] > [CMYK] > [Use Embedded Profile] (or [RGB] > [Use Embedded Profile]),
specifying [CMYK Rendering Intent] and [Use Embedded Rendering Intent] (or [RGB] > [RGB
Rendering Intent] and [Use Embedded Rendering Intent]) is not reflected for the CMYK (or
RGB) embedded profile.
• When Roman is specified in the PDF, checking [Fail Jobs if No Font Exists] (in the link menu,
the [Settings] icon > [System Settings] > [Job] > [Printer]) will not fail jobs and printing may
be carried out using an alternative font.
• When you check [Settings] > [Warning/Detection] > [RGB Warning] in Job Properties, and if
you check [Color] > [CMYK] > [Use Embedded Profile], CIE image warning is not applied to
CMYK objects whose profile is embedded in PDF.
• If any unregistered spot color included in your original has an overprint setting specified, or if
you uncheck [Spot Color] > [Spot Color Correction] in Job Properties, overprint may not be re-
produced even if [Image Quality] > [Composite Overprint] is checked in Job Properties.
APPE Job
• When a PDF file is set to the custom paper size, the print result may be output in an image ori-
entation different from the CPSI job.
• When [Image Quality] > [Composite Overprint] in the Job Properties is checked, [Always
Knock out white object] is only applied to the white object when Color Space is DeviceCMYK.
• When you check [Image Quality] > [RGB Black to K (Text/Graphics)] or [RGB Gray to K (Text/
Graphics)], and replace RGB object specified to overprint with K, the object is overprinted.
• When the object that has all CMYK colors are specified to overprint, the overprint warning may
not work correctly.
• Color correction with [Color] > [CMYK] > [CMYK Simulation] in Job Properties is not applied
to the spot colors not registered in Print Server even if the alternative color space specified in
PDF is CMYK or Gray.
• If multiple spot color names making up the DeviceN color space contained in the original are
specified as the source of replacement with the identical specialty toner plate, the job results
in an error. To avoid the phenomenon, you must register the registered specialty toner as
CMYK=0/0/0/0, Color=100.
Notes on Migration
• After you have migrated features, make sure you check the Job Properties in [Summary] be-
fore printing jobs.
• Even if feature have been successfully migrated, depending on features that take a priority or
differences in output processing rules, you may encounter unexpected print results or unex-
pected rotation angle during Ripping.
‐ Jobs whose settings are "Staple: Yes, Output Destination: output tray in the Finisher" (i.e.
jobs that originally can be delivered to finisher tray in the Finisher only after being stapled)
are delivered to "Staple: Yes, Output Destination: finisher tray in the Finisher" (stapling takes
a priority) on PX Print Server, or "Staple: Noe, Output Destination: output tray in the Finish-
er" (destination takes a priority) on the machine.
‐ Jobs using features that does not have options for "Image Inside" or "Image Outside" are
printed as "inside regardless of the face up / down output setting" on PX Print Server, or as
"Face Up: Image Outside, Face Down: Image Inside" on the machine.
‐ When the adjusting criterion for [Shift & Scale] is set to "Output Direction", vertical and hor-
izontal adjustment values work in an opposite manner. (The value set for "Landscape" on PX
Print Server will be set for "Portrait" on the machine)
‐ When using [Divide by Records], jobs are printed "from the last page within the record" on
PX Print Server, or printed "from the last page in the whole job" on the machine.
• Page structure changes made in [Job] > [Thumbnail] > [Edit Thumbnail] on PX Print Server are
not migrated.
• On the machine, jobs for which alternate fonts are specified are processed according to [Fail
Jobs if No Font Exists] in System Settings.
Changes to Overprint
• As opposed to that you select an output color to be overprinted ([Process] or [Process + Spot
Color]) in [Composite Overprint] on PX Print Server, on the machine, when you check [Color] >
[CMYK] > [CMYK Simulation], and [Spot Color] > [Spot Color Correction], the color mode will
be overprinted.
Also, on the machine, the default of [Composite Overprint] has now been hanged to On.
• For PX Print Server, we have accepted an characteristic of Illustrator, where there are color dif-
ferences in spot colors between overprint areas and other areas (i.e. only overprint areas are
converted to CMYK). On the machine, spot colors are now printed as spot colors so that there
are no color differences.
When you uncheck [Spot Color Correction], all object colors are converted to CMYK, resulting
in no color differences. You can also avoid color differences by checking [Separations] > [Select
Convert All Spot Colors To Process] in the [Print Preferences] dialog box on Illustrator.
Note
• Text enhanced with gradation effects, and lines, are treated as shading.
• Lines existing underneath elements that have transparent effects are treated as fill.
