SSC Maths Short Notes & Tricks

1. Number System & Simplification


• Divisibility rules (2, 3, 5, 7, 11).
• LCM × HCF = Product of two numbers.
• Simplify using BODMAS rule.

2. Percentage & Ratio


• Percentage = (Value / Total Value) × 100.
• If A : B = m : n, then A/(A+B) = m/(m+n).

3. Profit, Loss & Discount


• Profit% = (Profit/CP) × 100.
• Loss% = (Loss/CP) × 100.
• Discount% = (Discount/MP) × 100.

4. Simple & Compound Interest


• SI = (P × R × T)/100.
• CI = P(1 + R/100)^T – P.

5. Time, Speed, Distance & Work


• Speed = Distance / Time.
• Work = Rate × Time.
• If A can do a work in x days, then 1 day work = 1/x.

6. Algebra Basics
• (a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2.
• (a-b)^2 = a^2 - 2ab + b^2.
• (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2.

7. Geometry & Mensuration


• Area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height.
• Area of circle = πr².
• Volume of sphere = 4/3 πr³.

8. Trigonometry
• sin²θ + cos²θ = 1.
• tanθ = sinθ / cosθ.
• Table: sin0=0, sin30=1/2, sin45=1/√2, sin60=√3/2, sin90=1.
9. Statistics (Mean, Median, Mode)
• Mean = Sum of observations / Number of observations.
• Median = Middle value after arrangement.
• Mode = Most frequent value.

10. Miscellaneous Shortcuts


• Squares up to 30 must be memorized.
• Cubes up to 20 must be memorized.
• Approx: √2 ≈ 1.414, √3 ≈ 1.732.
