(DTH)
Introduction:
• DTH stands for DIRECT TO HOME.
• The reception of satellite programmers with a personal
dish in an individual home.
• It does away with the need for local cable operators and
puts the broadcaster directly in touch with the
consumer.
• A wireless digital audio or video service is provided
through satellite.
What is DTH?
History:
• DTH services were first proposed in India in 1996.
• The proposal was not approved to due to concerns
over national security and negative cultural
influence.
• The first DTH service was launched in India on 2
October 2003 by Dish TV owned by Zee.
• DTH licenses in India will cost $2.14million and will
be valid for only 10 years.
Principle of DTH:
• In DTH television, the broadcast signals are transmitted
from satellites orbiting the earth to the viewers house.
• Each satellite is located approximately 35,700km above
the earth in geosynchronous orbit.
• These satellites receive the signals from the broadcast
station located on earth and rebroadcast them to the
earth.
• The viewers dish picks up the signal from the satellite and
passes it on to the receiver located inside the viewer’s
house.
• The receiver processes the signal and passes it on to the
television

1.Parabolic satellite Antenna
2.LNB( low noise block)
3.Converter

Parabolic Antenna: A parabolic antenna is an antenna that uses a parabolic


reflector, Parabolic antennas have some of the highest gains. parabolic
antennas are used in the high frequency part of the radio spectrum,
at UHF and microwave (SHF)frequencies.

LNB:
• Part of antenna positioned in front of dish to receive signal and converts
signal to be carried by signal to receiver.
• Low noise block down converter is the antenna converts all signals from KU
to L band.
INDOOR UNIT

RF Amplifier:
RF amplifier which is applied to channel selector to get desired channel
with help of mixer and local oscillator.
An RF frequency 70MHz is produced.

SET TOP BOX:

1.Information appliance device contains a TV tuner input.


2.Displays output to a television set and an external source of signal.
D to A conversion.
3.Turning the source signal into content in a form that can then be
displayed on a television screen.
4.An RF frequency 70MHz is produced.
