Relationships

Mike Goffin edited this page Aug 26, 2014 · 1 revision

Relationships allow you to define some context about how two top-level objects (TLOs) are associated.

When defining a relationship, you can provide:

  • The Relationship type.
  • The Type and ID of the target to relate to.
  • An optional Relationship Date if the relationship might be unique to a point-in-time.
  • A confidence in the relationship.
  • A reason for the relationship and/or confidence level.

An example of needing the Relationship date might be relating an IP Address to a Domain.

The list of potential Relationship Types are based off of CybOX Relationship Types. Because we are dealing with bidirectional relationships, CRITs will automatically use the appropriate converse relationship when generating the Relationship information in the target TLO's document. This will help the Relationship make sense regardless of which direction it is being viewed from.

If you make changes to a relationship you only need to make the changes in one place. CRITs will make the appropriate adjustments for the other side of the relationship for you.
