Shop drawings
u Once awarded, general contractor is responsible for getting shop
drawings from subs
u Provides details for off-site manufacturing
u Must be approved by the architect or engineer
Specifications
u Are the written part of the project documents – describe in words the
materials and methods required for the project
u Indicate quality requirements (drawings generally indicate quantities)
u Quality of specs varies widely and are a function of the skill of the writer
and type of project
