The United States Education System
The United States have long been held in high esteem by their peers for their higher education
system s ability to produce the best and brightest young adults that can impact the world. Students in
our nation have a choice whether or not to attend prestigious higher level institutions in order to
educate themselves and prepare themselves for the job market. The U.S. has an outstanding
reputation of educating students as well as making education available to everyone in the country.
Whether it be a public university, private university or a for profit institution, people can easily find
a way to pursue their academic goals. However, many students graduate collegewith the inability to
find a job because they weren t properly trained and with massive debt due to the extremely high
price of tuition at most universities. College is viewed as a necessity, but is priced as a luxury.
This is leading to a drastic downturn to the success of the United States education system. Changes
have to be made in regard to how universities are funded as well as universities reevaluating where
their responsibilities truly lie either making a profit or preparing students for the workforce in order
to ensure the growth and posterity of the United States. There are many different types of higher
educationinstitutions and reasons to attend them. One of them is nonprofit private universities.
Nonprofit private universities are extremely attractive because of their prestige and reputation.

Duddy Kravitz Analysis
Throughout the novel, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, Duddy makes decisions that overall
define who he is as a person. These actions show that at times he is moral and his actions can be
considered to be good. Though what he does can be good, it can also be considered to be quite
immoral or bad.

First off some of Duddy s actions were very immoral and only did bad for others. Duddy shows
himself at times as an unsympathetic person that will do his best to take advantage of others
while avoiding any moral responsibility. Duddy is on a quest for land and will not let anything get
in his way. As a result of this he decides to give his friend Virgil a job as a truck driver for his
company. Virgil being epileptic is at high risk of danger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Duddy can be considered an underdog that is trying to achieve something that may just be handed to
others that are on a different playing field then him. In the novel he is just trying to even out the
playing field for himself. Though this does not account for everything Duddy has done, it does
give reasoning and justifiability to some of his actions. Duddy shows his concept of fairness
when talking to Calder, as Calder explains why he thinks Duddy s brother should be expelled.
Duddy says to Calder, Maybe he did. But he s a poor boy and he never met up with ladies and
gentlemen before. Present company expected (198). He comes from a Jewish family and at the
time Jewish people would not get the same treatment as others got. For example the land Duddy
ends up getting at the end of the novel had to be purchased by Yvette. This was because of the
fact Duddy is Jewish and relates back to him being the underdog in the situation. Duddy thinks
about what it would have been like if he was born into a rich family. I m a failure. All I needed was
to be born rich. All I needed was money in the crip and I would have grown up such a fine, lovable
guy (310). Duddy feels that his actions are justified by the fact that he is on the lower end of the

Mandatory Dress Codes In Schools
Schools need to have dress codes so that no bullying occurs. Information states that schools should
make students wear uniforms so that people can not be made fun of what they are wearing. If
schools enforce a strict dress code, then students will not have to fret in the morning about how they
need to look good or simply pick out what to wear, but instead put on a uniformand be done.

Schools need to have a dress code for multiple reasons. One of the many reasons of why dress codes
are a good thing is said by a principle of a school in Tempe Kids in my school dress very poorly, and
I believe if I were to enforce a dress code for my school that the kids learning would increase. In
other words, this specific principle believes that
The Patriot ( 2000 )
The Patriot (2000) follows Benjamin Martin (Francis Marion) a widower with 7 children and
veteran of the French and Indian war. He is reluctant to join the fight against the British until Colonel
William Tavington (Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton) kills Benjamin s son and burns down his house
in South Carolina. Benjamin Martin leads his militia and attacks against the British with guerilla
warfare until the climax battle, where he takes revenge for his son and kills Colonel William. What
is wrong with The Patriot? It may have gotten the big picture, which was that the British taxed the
colonists unfairly and the colonists took action by forming a militia to win the war through guerilla
warfare, but that s one of the few things that are historically accurate about the film. Important things
that are historically accurate are the ambushes that Benjamin Gates took part in. Attacking head to
head was not an option because the British soldiers were obviously more powerful so the militia
used surprise attacks and ambushes to beat the British. Also the character Colonel William
Tavington, who was based off of the British soldier Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton, was probably the
most hated officer in the British army. His tactics were cowardly and evil because he would shoot
the enemy after they surrendered. The film did a great job at showing how menacing Lt. Colonel
Banastre Tarleton really was. Nevertheless, the film was mostly inaccurate and could be considered

Summary Of Driving To The Funeral By Anna Quindlen
The short story Driving to the Funeral by Anna Quindlen discusses about the appropriate age to
start driving. The author starts out by stating that car crashes are the No. 1 cause of death among
15 to 20 year olds in this country. Many teenagers start driving at 16 and that is the reason why the
number of car crashes continue to go up for their age group. Quindlen questions why parents of 16
year olds allow their kids to start drivingright away without giving it much thought. Their
recklessness only leads to missing countless high school memories that last a lifetime. Teenagers
who start driving early are known to break protocols, which is one of the reasons of fatal car crashes.
One protocol is that they are not allowed to carry more
Pan s Labyrinth Symbolism
For my Spanish Cultural Project, I decided to watch and review the movie El laberinto del fauno,
which in English is more commonly referred to as Pan s Labyrinth. Following the viewing of the
film, I researched background information, so that I could better understand the symbolism
represented in the movie. By many, this filmis considered to be one of the greatest Spanish spoken
films of all time and one of the reasons why I wanted to watch it. The version of the movie that I
purchased off of youtube, had permanent English subtitles. However, during the reviewing of the
film I was able to block them with post it notes; that is to say that I watched the film twice, once with
the English subtitles and once without. Overall, the experience left
Corn Husk Research Paper
How to Construct a Corn Husk Doll Step 1. The first thing you must do is gather corn husk, but
not just any corn husk. You must gather the best and biggest husk out there. You must also gather
a couple of sticks. You also need some string. It would be nice to have a scissors and a pocket
knife as well. Step 2. You must carve one of the sticks that you gathered earlier, for this will make
the doll prettier, and appealing to the children. Plus it is always fun to carve a stick. Step 3. Take
about four or five corn husk, and soak them in water. Then with some string tie the ends of the corn
husk together. Step 4. now grab the end that you just tied. Put the tied end on the stick, and hold it
there with your thumb. Then pull the
The Workout That Helps High School Basketball Players
The workout that has been provided is an essential workout that applies to high school basketball
players getting in shape for their upcoming season. Conditioning is needed for basketball players to
be able to withstand their abilities over the course of a game and allow the athletes to make good
decisions when tired. For these reasons, the last activity of making the athletes perform in regular
basketballactivities after their workout will stress the athletes to make good decisions even when
they are exhausted, simulating how it will be in a late game situation during the season.
This workout, as all workouts do, will apply to the many principles of fitness training. It applies to
the principle of overload which is the principle of gaining more improvements by increasing the
workload placed on the body. This is easily applied by the workout being flexible enough that when
it becomes too easy for the athlete, they have the ability to increase or lengthen the repetitions of
each exercise. The principle of overload also goes hand in hand with the principle of progression,
allowing the conditioning athletes to push themselves a little bit harder if they feel they are up for
the challenge. The principle of diminishing returns is something the conditioning athlete wants to
reach which is where the athlete s body gets to the point that it becomes less and less affected by the
workout. It is so important that the athlete gets to this point because they know that their body has
Minimum Living Wage
Let s take a look at Figure.1 above, which shows the impact of a minimum wage on employment.
The blue colored line shows the supply from labor while the red line shows the demand for labor.
Initially, if the market is allowed to work by itself, the equilibrium market wage is W1 and the
employment level is E1. At E1, the labor market clears and there is no shortage or surplus. However,
implementation of minimum wageor minimum living wagechanges the scenario significantly. If the
government sets a wage floor of W* at that wage, the labor would want to supply more, therefore
increasing the supply of labor from E1 to E2. However, as the wages now higher, the quantity
demanded of labor would be lower, at E3. This leads to an excess supply of labor... Show more

Amy Glasmeier (2014) came up with living wage calculator compiling geographically specific
expenditure data for food, childcare, health care, housing, transportation, and other basic
necessities (Source: http://livingwage.mit.edu/). In this section, to highlight the issue, we pick up
three places across the United States. We chose places from New York State Delhi village,
Delaware County, New York; Stony Brook CDP, Suffolk County, New York and one city from
Utah Provo city, Utah County, Utah. A quick look at the minimum wage in the three areas would
reveal that they share the same minimum wage of $ 7.25 per hour. However, based on the living
standards, the living wage is calculated and compared. The comparison is shown in Figure 2
below. The graph clearly reveals that there is a huge variation in living wage in the three places.
The living wage is as high as $13.03 in Stony Brook, NY and as low as $8.73 in Provo, UT. In
spite of the variation between living wage, the minimum wage is a low $7.25 in all three places,
which is even lower than the lowest living wage, in Provo, UT. An analysis with a larger number of
cities would have shown the same trend across the country. Therefore, it shows that the focus should
be on the living wage, not on minimum wage. Due to this disparity between living wage and
minimum wage, minimum wage earners have to working double shifts or live dependent on benefits
for financial support in order to have the bare
Peisistratid Tyranny Research Paper
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, it is a pleasure for me to address the topic Athens under the
Peisistratid Tyranny to you all at the Ancient History Teachers Association of Australia today. The
Peisistratid Tyranny includes the succession of three tyrant in Ancient Greece; Peisistratus, Hippias
and Hipparchus from 561 510 BCE. Peisistratus ruled Ancient Athens as a tyrant several times, in
561, 559 556 and 546 BCE until his death in 528 BCE. His tyranny, as well as tyranny as a concept
and form of political control, have been viewed in a negative way, being seen as oppressive,
dictatorial leaders who abuse their citizens. However, the growth in Ancient Athens, both socially
and economically, during his reign contradict the common views of tyranny.... Show more content on

Peisistratus rule seemed to have benefitted mostly to the poorer, lower class Athenians, as the
redistribution of land and the stimulation of the trade, pottery and agricultural industry flourished
under his tyranny. These newly thriving industries allowed social and political advancement for the
lower classes in Athens, as Peisistratus supported the growth and trade of farming products from
those Athenians. Over the entire Peisistratid tyranny, the thriving Athenians became increasingly
accustomed to look to Athens as a strong central government. The segregation and influence of the
aristocrats and nobles were challenged and destabilised as Peisistratus and his sons worked to secure
and maintain the well being Athenian citizens as a whole. Aristotle, one the two most reliable
/primary sources and authors in Ancient Athens known today, stated that during Peisistratus reign, he
...caused the people no annoyance in his rule, but was always trying to provide them with peace and
to assure their tranquility and so it could often be heard said that the tyranny of Peisistratus meant
living in the age of Cronus [ a Golden Age ]. This state of Athens during the Peisistratid tyranny is
clearly stated in this quote, from the Constitution of the Athenians by Aristotle, or by a student of his
based on his notes, in c. 350 BCE. The quote was found in Ancient Greece from
