The Dangers Of Complacency In The Military
The Dangers of Complacency Complacency is a common theme throughout life whether it be
civilian or military. Merriam Webster defines complacency as a feeling of being satisfied with
how things are and not wanting to try to make them better: a complacent feeling or condition
(Merriam Webster s online dictionary, n.d.). This state or feeling can be as simple as wanting to
maintain the status quo. While it is important in civilian careers to battle complacency, it is of the
utmost important to remain vigilant against complacency for military members because so many
lives are at stake. This is why it is important for military members, not just leaders, to identify the
dangers of and the ever growing status of complacency while implementing strategies to prevent
and correct complacency. Complacency Causes Facing the Army One of the most frequent causes
of complacency is over confidence. This can be seen in individuals and units after becoming
comfortable with the operational tempo. One way this is manifested is by skipping Pre Combat
Checks (PCCs) and Pre Combat Inspections (PCIs) because everyone is experienced and gear no

Standards are the first line defense and when followed will ensure that individuals and units are
capable and prepared to function in the rigors of combat. Moreover, keeping Soldiers proactively
engaged can reduce complacency. Too much down time commonly results in not wanting to do
anything. By keeping Soldiers active and engaged with the unit, Soldiers remain motivated and goal
oriented. Finally, it is imperative to continue training. This includes conducting refresher training to
ensure skills are always fresh, but also conducting training that focuses on new or unexpected events.
This type of training encourages individuals and units to constantly prepare for the unexpected and
never settle for what seems adequate at the
Essay on The Word of God
The bible was written as an account of what many viewed that God had accomplished so his
actions and words could be passed on for generations. Some believe it is a literary account and
some believe it is a historical account. The word of God in the bible comes in many forms and is
left up to interpretation by the reader. Some believe that the word of God should be the only word
and should be strictly followed. Some believe that the words are meant as a guideline to help us
through life. Whatever your belief is you can always seem to find the meaning behind your belief
through the word of God in the Bible. Although the bible is left up for interpretation, many believe
that over time the words have been misconstrued. They yearn to... Show more content on

Also in Acts when the Apostles where filled with the Spirit they started to speak in languages. This
is absolutely important because without language we could not receive the intended message as set
in motion by God. In the New Testament we find Jesus Christ, the son of God, preaching the word
of God to the people. In the gospel of John 12:49 50 Jesus says, For I have not spoken on my own,
but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about that to say and what to
speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I speak, therefore, I speak just as
the Father has told me. Jesus conveys to the people that everything he speaks is what God wants
to be spoken. It is important that we understand and preserve the many different languages the
Bible is translated into because they are disappearing at an alarming rate. Through these
translations we may find a deeper meaning and understanding. Jost Zetzsche stated it best when
he said, I believe that translations of Scripture are not secondary fill ins but as integral part of the
ongoing and primary expression of God s message in written form. Many believers still want God
to speak to us through signs so we can have a clearer understanding of what exactly is trying to be
said. But to want that is to misunderstand the Bible. According to Tullian Tchividjian, senior pastor
of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, God s Word comes to us in two forms: law and gospel. The law

Catechol Oxidase Lab Report
Methods Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity and Benzoquinone Absorption During this experiment,
the activity of catechol oxidase and the absorbance of benzoquinone was measured in five
solutions with different pH concentration. Five cuvettes provided by the instructor were used
during the experiment. The transmittance on the spectrophotometer was zeroed on an empty
chamber and it was set at a wavelength of 486 nm. Because the shape of an enzyme changes with
different pH concentration and each pH has different chemicals, so five cuvettes containing 0.5
mL of enzyme solution and 4.5 mL of pH 2, pH 6, pH 7, pH 8, pH 11 were used to make five
different blank solutions (Scott, S.M. et al 2016). (Each blank was made when needed, not all
blanks were made at the same time.) These blanks were used to zero the absorbance on the

My Best Years Of Your Life
Four years. One diploma. The best years of your life are said to be spent in college. There is the
freedom aspect, being away from your home and parents and able to do what you want. Even
though there might be some students who find that to be an important part of going away for
college, the academic aspect is beyond the more influential impact on their life. Being in a university
will expand your academic, life, and career goals. Universities have connections with endless of
companies and organizations that are eager to recruit well prepared students. Those students who
took advantage of the career fairs, networking events, resume critiques, and on campus recruiting.
Being almost a year ahead compared to my graduating class, I have the ability to graduate earlier
because of the number of credits I transferred in from high school. Financially it is what everyone
dreams of, less debt, but career wise it is frightening. I have to graduate earlier and go into the real
world earlier than I intended on. Knowing that I will graduate earlier has put some pressure on this
semester because instead of being a sophomore waiting to declare my major at the end of this
semester, I am a junior who will declare my business major at the end of this semester. Having the
opportunity to graduate earlier has motivated to be a better student. I always had a good work ethic,
therefore adjusting to the workload in college was not a struggle. The struggle came when trying to
adjust to the study
Comparing the Themes of Love in Lord Byron s “She Walks in...
There are many different themes that can be used to make a poem both successful and memorable.
Such is that of the universal theme of love. This theme can be developed throughout a poem through
an authors use of form and content. She Walks in Beauty, by George Gordon, Lord Byron, is a poem
that contains an intriguing form with captivating content. Lord Byron, a nineteenth century poet,
writes this poem through the use of similes and metaphors to describe a beautiful woman. His
patterns and rhyme scheme enthrall the reader into the poem. Another poem with the theme of loveis
John Keats La Belle Dame sans Merci, meaning the beautiful lady without mercy. Keats, another
nineteenth century writer, uses progression and compelling... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The last line compares the maiden to Heaven because they both deny bad days. The second stanza
of Lord Byron s poem focuses on the woman s perfect face. The beautiful shades and rays of the
womans complexion make her a nameless grace (2, 2). This conveys the idea that her inner beauty
is reflected in her outer beauty in the sense that she is pure and innocent on the inside so she radiates
that beauty on the outside. This stanza reveals her serene thoughts: Where thoughts serenely sweet
express, How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
The dwelling place is her pure mind. This maiden can be called an innocent love because Lord
Byron s use of words propose that she may have never been in love, so she does not know about
it. The last stanza in this poem considers the woman s physical description and moral character. Her
so soft [and] so calm flow radiates peace and goodness.
This woman may remind the reader of an angel when thinking of this description.
The last line, a heart whose love is innocent, reflects that the woman is truly pure and has a good
heart. This line leave the reader feeling very peaceful knowing that this maiden is pure and true in
her innocence. La Belle Dame sans Merci takes on a different view of the theme of love. This
poem is broken down into three parts. In the first part of the poem, the speaker appears to be some
unknown person who asks a lonely,

Gatsby Gender Roles
That s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool. (F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great
Gatsby). In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, the concept of gender roles is demonstrated
through various characters from both the mortal and fairy realms and their romantic relations with
one another as they try to resolve the complications between these groups. Shakespeare explores and
enforces the concept of gender roles through the relationship between the King and Queen of the
Fairies, Oberon and Titania, and the foolish behaviour of Helena and Hermia without the help of an
enchantment throughout the play. Throughout the play, the complications of Oberon and Titania s
relationship enforces gender roles. One way their relationship... Show more content on

Hermia are just fools without having been charmed by an enchantment in comparison to the men

are recognized as foolish and insignificant, and men are recognized as calm and mature and are

continued to grow over the new decade. Ten years after founding the Buffett Associates the assets
were up more than 1,156%. Warren s personal stake was worth a cool 7 million. In may 1969 he
liquidated the partnership informing his partners that he was unable to find bargains in the current
market. Buffett s intentions were to keep his 29% of the company, but his intentions weren t

Director. Terrible management had run the company nearly into the ground. After this the company
continued doing well and Buffett appointed someone else to head the company. In the coming years
Buffett s value rose immensely. In the late sixties and early seventies Warren invested in several
companies which paid off. A company by the name of See s candy became a great investment. He
bought the company for 25 million. The chocolate company came to be known as the best
investment he ever made. Benjamin Graham died in the early seventies leaving Buffett with
millions. Later on in the year Susan
Construction Industry And It Forms The Backbone Of Modern...
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1Introduction
Concrete is widely used in the construction industry and it forms the backbone of modern
infrastructure. Traditional vibrated concrete has limitations which brought about the invention of
self consolidating concrete. These two concrete types have similar constituent materials but their mix
proportions are different, in that SCC has more powder content, less coarse aggregate content,
smaller coarse aggregate size and admixtures are used. Both concrete types are susceptible to
physical and chemical attacks. The magnitude of these attacks depends on the properties and quality
of the constitutive concrete ingredients, and the placement methods used.
This literature review provides the necessary information on concrete technology in general with
emphasis laid on the materials used for its production. The basic engineering properties of both
TVC and SCC are looked at and a comparison of their mix proportions is done. The mixture
proportioning and acceptance criteria for SCC is presented with a brief description of the evaluation
methods used.
2.2Concrete Technology
Concrete is a sophisticated composite material that is continuously being improved and modified. Its
basic constituents however have remained unchanged. These include, aggregates, water and a binder
which could be ordinary Portland cement. The aggregates are usually rock, sand and/or gravel.
Portland cement is the most widely used binder. It is a fine granular
A Contemporary Analysis Of Accounting Professionals Work...
A research paper is only considered valuable if it is both valid and reliable in measuring the
constructs that it claims to. This paper is aimed at evaluating the validity and reliability of the
research paper titled A Contemporary Analysis of Accounting Professionals Work Life Balance by
Buchheit, Dalton, Harp and Hollingsworth, published in the Accounting Horizons Journal in March
2016 in its first issue of volume 30. The research paper endeavoured to provide answers for two
main research questions that were aimed at scrutinising the difference between 1. auditors and tax
professionals in terms of their work life conflict, burnout and perceptions regarding alternative work
arrangements (AWA) across all sizes of public accounting firms, and 2. accounting professionals
perceptions of AWAs in industry versus public accounting.
The reliability and validity of the research paper will be evaluated separately and some suggestions
on how the authors could have enhanced both reliability and validity of their research will be
provided.
2.Reliability
A research is reliable when the measurement instrument can generate the same outcomes consistently.
This section will discuss how the researchers have endeavoured to maximise reliability by
minimising method error and maximising the inter rater reliability and internal consistency of the
research. Suggestions on how to further increase the study s reliability are also given.
2.1.Method error
Any measurement procedure will
