Statistics are part of everyday life. Whether we know it or not we use them in some way, shape or
form during the course of our day. Business and medical professionals, sociologists and scientists

central tendency and measures of variability are two we focused on. As their names suggest,
measures of central tendency indicate what is most typical in a data set. Measures of variability
gauge how much difference there is in a set of measures (Tanner Youseef Morgan, 2013).
Descriptive statistics aid in sorting through large amounts of data and making them understandable.
In order to measure central tendency we utilize the mean, median, and mode. These are used to find
the most frequent value (mode), the middle most value (median), and the average (mean). These

For my ethnographic fieldwork, I decided to do my research on the Jewish culture. I interviewed
a friend of mine at her house, which is the field site I decided to work in. To protect her identity I
changed her name to Rebecca. As soon as I got to her house I notice there was a small piece of
metal on the side of her doorpost with hebrew text written on it. I enter the house and she greeted

In the short story Cathedral by Raymond Carver, the narrator is a dynamic character because of

different perspective through his imagination. Robert, the blind man that visits the narrator and his
wife, brings out the imagination from within the narrator. The narrator is a dynamic character

For my experiential learning project, I picked the option of conducting an informational interview
with a professor in the major I was interested in. I chose this option because it gave me the
opportunity to get relevant information about my major of interest from a professor who has
expertise in this career field. I thought that this option was best because the professor has more
information and knowledge compared to someone who is currently pursuing a degree in this major.
This project informed my major selection by helping me to realize that although Environmental
Studies is interesting, the classes are not. This major requires a lot of natural sciences, labs, and math
and I want a career where I can refrain from as much of this as possible. I found out that this major
involves more human interaction than I anticipated. This project changed my opinion about
Environmental Studies being suited for me instead it has helped me to cross Environmental Studies
off my list of possible majors. Although I m no longer interested in Environmental Studies this
project has reinforced my desire to pursue working with animals. This major offers many career
opportunities that involve animals that are both domestic and exotic.
