Motion

Class 9 Physics - Chapter 5: Motion (Quick Revision Notes)

1. Motion:

- Change in position of an object with time.

2. Types of Motion:

- Uniform: Equal distance in equal time intervals.

- Non-uniform: Unequal distances in equal time intervals.

3. Distance vs Displacement:

- Distance: Total path covered (scalar).

- Displacement: Shortest path between two points (vector).

4. Speed vs Velocity:

- Speed = Distance/Time (scalar)

- Velocity = Displacement/Time (vector)

5. Acceleration:

- Change in velocity per unit time.

- a = (v - u)/t

- SI unit: m/s²

6. Graphs:

- Distance-Time Graph: Slope = Speed.

- Velocity-Time Graph: Slope = Acceleration; Area = Displacement.

7. Equations of Motion:

- v = u + at

- s = ut + ½at²

- v² = u² + 2as

8. Uniform Circular Motion:

Motion
- Constant speed but changing direction.

- Velocity is not constant; object is accelerated.
