A New World

What was that sound? Cautiously, I creep into the inky-black cave. I edge forward, hearing
rustling, scuffling... Soon, squawking and chirruping fill the cave... A cacophony of howling
and crying begins...
Stumbling forwards, I can’t believe my awestruck eyes! What lies before me: pure paradise.
Animals of every shape and size saunter gracefully among emerald-green trees. Fish of
myriad colours swim elegantly through sapphire-blue waters of wondrous shimmering lakes.
Suddenly, a splendid feathered creature swoops, carrying me high up above magical forests
and waterfalls. A beautiful world... The creature caws. I drop from its claws, falling towards
its mountain nest...

The Impossible Maze

It was getting dark. I started to panic. I stumbled through the maze, frightened. It all looked
the same. Hopeless, I sat on the damp, cold floor and started to cry. Suddenly, I felt warmth
and a purple glow lit the path. I looked up to see an extraordinarily tall wizard in purple
robes. Beside him, a blue door floated in mid-air.
“This portal will return you home,” declared the wizard. “But if you go, you can never
return.”
I stood quickly and ran to the door, overjoyed! I never found the treasure, but I had
something better, home.

Science Experiment Gone Wrong...

Deep inside a secret tomb, a scientist tried to bring his father back to life. Close to midnight, his
experiment was soon to be complete. He would see his father once again. Boom! His father rose
from the dead... something wasn’t right, his eyes were blank, frightening white. His skin was dark,
scarily green. Dr Scalene had seen this before... zombie.
“Dad, please no!”
Dr Scalene jumped out of his father’s way as he exited the tomb into the innocent world outside...

The Truth Is Out There

Sunday. 5pm. Kick-off. Where’s the opposition? The referee blew his whistle. Suddenly, they
appeared! I was playing football against a team like nothing I’d seen before. This was no ordinary
game. I heard we were playing the greens, they literally were green! I thought, can aliens play
football? Well, apparently so. We couldn’t get near their goal. The goalkeeper had ten arms and
eyes in the back of his head! The striker didn’t move an inch but scored ten goals using just his
mind power. Galaxy FD levitated away from Area 51’s stadium with the cup on the team’s UFO.

Inside The Book
All the colours blurred around her and an odd churning sensation was starting in her
stomach. The atmosphere changed abruptly and the odd sensation in her stomach halted.
She was in the story that she had been reading. All was misty and there was a pirate
turning a steering wheel, his eyes dancing in anticipation. She was standing on the deck
of a ship. It wasn’t very large and it was turning south. It was pitch-black, but the moon
highlighted the ship. She went down a small ladder and then the dream ended. She had
fallen asleep while reading!

Secret Agent Josh’s Latest Mission

“Ha! Ha! Ha!” cackled Wicked Witch Wendy as she dragged James into the deserted castle.
“Nobody will ever find him here,” she laughed, thinking how yummy he would taste in her
stewpot! Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Secret Agent Josh’s watch vibrated, he was
needed for an important mission. As quick as a flash, he sprinted to the castle. He quickly
climbed over the black iron gates, just like Spider-Man, and raced towards the dungeon.
Seeing James in danger, he bravely broke through the door and rescued James. Wendy
wasn’t so lucky, she ended up in the cauldron!

Dear Me
One misty night, as I rode my bike through the woods of many mysteries, my head busy
with fear, I stumbled into a curling, thick fog. I paused for a moment. An electric bolt ran
through my veins. I was startled. Was it just my mind playing tricks on me or did the curling
fog part to present the most magnificent creature known to the world? Its crystal gaze held
my eyes and coaxed me gently. My fears drifted away. The radiant glow of its fur gave me
warmth. A rustle from the bushes and it was gone.

The Golden Quest

The sails swayed as the gentle breeze blew. She was nearing land, but steering the boat
was a challenge. A cryptic mist surrounded her like a bird’s cage. Everest was stranded. If
only her parents were here. Despite all of these difficulties, she had to persevere. Splash!
Splash! Boom! What was that? She had reached land. Everest hesitantly climbed out of the
boat. Just as she stepped out, the ground shuddered. What could she do? She ran and hid
behind the nearest tree. She caught a glimpse of something glistening. Everest couldn’t
believe her eyes; the ancient city of Parapata?
