(Peer Tutoring )
NARRATIVE REPORT
Reading problem in schools can lead to a great anxiety in parents and can have
destructive emotional effects on learners. The reading difficulties that are not addressed
as it should be in the early grades, can lead to more difficult problems. That is why it is
no surprise that much attention has been given to reading. It is no exaggeration to say
that student’s knowledge in reading affects directly not only how successful they are in
school but how well they do throughout their lives. When learner learn to read, he/she
has the key to open the doors of all the knowledge of the world.
In Cabasan National High School, reading programs were provided to support
the development of reading skills to help attain that every child learns to read
appropriately and attain a skill in literacy within their level and beyond.
One of the programs is PET. Peer tutoring is an approach in which one student
instructs another in material on which the first one is an expert and the second one is a
novice. This project aims to engage learners in the learning process and improving their
academic performance. This project is designed towards learners who are too timid to
come to their teachers to ask for help in parts of the lesson which they have difficulty in
understanding. This kind of students finds more confidence in asking help from their
friends and classmates so to cater to the needs of these learners this project was
launch.
